  1. I think Ozzie and Coop should share a passionate kiss before the game and get this homphobe talk done once and for all.
  2. QUOTE(juddling @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) I'm sure it's been discussed before at one point but in Couch's article today he mentioned Kotex-Boy being physically threatened in the Sox clubhouse. He didn't mention a year or anything but i was wondering who you all think would have done it????? I would love to have seen someone like Dan Pasqua wrap those big arms around Jay's head and squeeze it like a big zit. So....anyone know or hear anything on this??? could get interesting on the theories alone. It's explained here http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...dpost&p=1181871

  4. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) Now I'm confused Regardless as to if it was intentional or not, I'm glad Riske retaliated. This is the second time in a week a pitcher has hit our batters in a shady fashion. Regardless of the truth, I'm just happy we got one back. Call me a jerk, call me what you will. I believe Steff. There's no reason to lie. I also have no problem with beaning one of their guys. I understand not everyone agrees with it, but it's my take if we get hit twice we should hit back...intentional or not. It was a good bean by Riske..right in the keyster!!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Look up f.a.g. in Wiktionary, the free dictionary.*** may refer to: F.a.g - a junior boy who acted as servant to a senior boy at a British independent school. “F.a.g” came to mean a tedious or labour-intensive chore, and “f.a.g.ged out” to mean exhausted by hard work. 6. Hitting the guts out of the ball. Four out of the last five games everybody in the starting line up has at least a hit(with the exception of pitchers.) The last game of the Cinci series was the only game where one of our boys were held hitless and that was Thome who still reached on a bases loaded walk and got a rbi. 56 runs over the last 5 games. The Sox have scored 8 or more runs in 7 out of their last 10 games. Keep it up boys!!
  7. Actually no....it's just something for work, but I'd feel like a real ass if I was off with my numbers...
  8. If the Cubs were to play .650 ball the rest of the way and the Sox were to play .475 ball, the Sox would still have a better record than the Cubs, 89-74 to 88-75 . Now considering the Cubs haven't played .650 ball since 1918 or even .600 ball since 1945 and the World Champion White Sox have the second best record in baseball and haven't finished under .500 this millennium, I'd say Mr. Smith made a pretty safe choice. On a positive note for the Cubs, I hear attendance is up.
  9. I had to call Canon for support for my printer and they were excellent. Automated menus were short(meaning I didn't have to go through 10 steps to get to a live person) and the guy was friendly helpful and fixed my problem in a matter of minutes. He was also American!! On a side note, support was free!! I read in the manual that after a year support is 9.95, but when I got on the phone with the guy I didn't have to prove that in any way. He did ask during our initial exchange of information, when I purchased the printer and I told him....I don't know about 7-8 months ago maybe. I'm not sure if I have to call back in 6 months if they'll tell me I have to pay now....but either way it would have been worth the 10 bucks.
  10. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) LOST is the best drama and The Office the best comedy. *Note- I dont get HBO (yet) so while I recognize Entourage, Curb and Sopranos as fantastic shows, I didnt include them. Furthermore, Rescue Me is a pretty decent show, but like SnB said, I have a hard time remembering that it's on (same problem I have with it's always sunny in philadelphia... must be an FX thing) You know what's weird is I'm the same way with that show. I always forget its on. It must be some kind of jinx with F/X. I'm usually just flipping through the guide and see its on or something. But I am all caught up now and I'll be sure to try and watch it every Monday now....I mean Tuesday.
  11. With the exception of SnB, has anyone else even seen Rescue Me?? Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, Entourage are all great comedies. I look at Rescue Me in the same light as like a Sopranos. There's a lot of funny parts, but the show is much more than the comedy. It's almost like it's funny in spite of itself. Give it a shot.
  12. Anybody else hooked on "Rescue Me".
  13. Yeah it was nice how this was totally buried in the paper too. Little article in the middle of the paper Saturday.
  14. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 09:34 AM) I agree, but there was a play this weekend where Pods was calling it, he was under it and set, and Anderson cut in front of him. I understand it's the CF's ball, but he also has to understand that it's a lot easier for a corner OF to catch it if he's set then if he's running. There were also a couple plays where pablo called for it and Brian let him take em just to see Pablo miss em both. Brian would have had em both standing up. If it's a gapper and you hear Brian call it get the hell out of the way.
  15. Wow...she's a cutie!!! Are those baby stuffed animals like the softest things you ever felt?? I want to get a pillow made out of that stuff.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) Does it seem to anyone else that DJ is just flat out smarter than Hawk? I just get that feeling. Wow...I don't get that feeling at all. I think DJ is definitely a few beers short of a six pack. I think his preparation is pretty good and when talking about something he has notes on or is ready for, then he speaks fairly intelligently, but if it's off topic he usually sounds lost. I do think they have developed some decent chemistry and DJ's play by play has improved leaps and bounds. I don't mind Hawk calling out Moronotti. I don't really need any more hineybird explanations, but I don't mind him calling Jay a first class ass. Jay has a mouthpiece to spew his drivol, so why not Hawk. He usually sums up my feelings on Jay pretty good.
  17. Good time for the Sox to hit their stride. Minny just won 9 out of their last 10 and it can't make them feel good to see they aren't gaining any ground. It also has to be somewhat demoralizing to Detroit knowing they have been playing way above their heads all year and not only can they not pull away, they also have doubts in their heads that they can beat us. Let's keep it up boys!!!
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 09:02 AM) Everyone got a hit yesterday.. pretty damn cool. 2 games in a row now!!
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) Has anyone else noticed just how difficult it is to watch the Cubs and root FOR them? even more difficult to listen to Santo on the radio.... "sheesh...that one really sounded like a hit..Im surprised it didn't go farther."
  20. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) I disagree with this sentiment, almost completely. I hope you're not seriously trying to say that a bunch of our guys are a bunch of pussies. Is Thome a pussy? Konerko? Dye? Buerhle? I don't think adhering to some ancient "sacred code" BS makes you any tougher. Hell, I think it might even be more indimidating for the guys to not even act like they cared about getting beaned. Just use the free runners to score some runs. Well, what is the teammate's wishes? Let's open up the paper and see what AJ said: I think most of anyone, AJ understands the whole role of retaliation in a pennant race: personal vendetta takes a back seat to the greater good of the team. I'm sure him of all people doesn't want a teammate getting suspended and potentially costing his team a valuable game in such a tight race with the Tigers. I haven't weighed in on this whole thing yet, but in the end, here's how I view it. AJ gets beaned the first time. Ozzie doesn't want his starter getting tossed in the 2nd inning as that helps no one out and he definitely doesn't want to lose a starter for a game or two for retaliation; thus, he tells Javier not to retaliate. Then the second beaning occurs, causing a warning on both sides. This is really where it was blown, the umpire should have thrown Padilla out of the game for that. Then Tracey gets called in, s*** goes down, he gets sent to AAA and we get a real major league reliever in a trade. In the end, I'm not happy with Ozzie's tirade, but it's just one of those things you have to live with when you have a great manager. I am happy that there are some cooler heads on this team, of all people AJ, who seem to realize the exact role of retaliation when your team is chasing a pennant. oh man, you are soo gonna get called out.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) ...do you not know what Kotex is? Anyway, tigerfan I will respectfully disagree with you. Winning is a great way to make a statement, but you can be a bunch of pussies and still win. It takes a little more to get real respect around the league. Standing up for your teammates is part of that. It must be my Irish up-bringing showing through. If somebody hits me, I hit back. And it won't stop until somebody is in the hospital. Why yes I do...Do you know what sexist is? It's certainly not taking the name of a femine product and using it to reference a journalist. "Summers Eve" Jay Jay "Wings" Marriotti "Always" Jay
  22. Ahh Fight or Flight....that's what I was trying to get at.
  23. Here's my take on this whole thing. There are two kinds of people in this world. We can all argue till we're blue in the face on who is right or wrong. There are the people who when punched in the face, punch back and then there are those that choose to walk away. Some say walking away is the bigger thing to do. I guess it depends on how you were brought up or where you were brought up, but arguments can be made for both. Fighting was pretty common when I was young. In fact, if you tried to be the "bigger" person and walk away, you just got picked on more. You had to stand up for yourself. If someone hit you and pushed you... and you didn't fight back..that just egged them on to go further cause they knew they had the best of you. Now I'm sure there are plenty of players in the league that were brought up with the "walk away" philosophy. Maybe Tracey is one of em, maybe not, but fact is it's just not in some peoples nature to "punch back" so to speak. Ozzie is a punch back kind of guy, I personally like it that way, but that doesn't make me or Ozzie right. How can one argue preference....it's different for everyone. Those that say Ozzie is a thug and wrong for trying to bean Blaylock, clearly are of the "walk away" variety and those that wanted retaliation are of the "punch back" variety. Different strokes for different folks. I tend to look at the "what if" variables. The fact is Padilla intentionally hit our starting catcher. Yes it worked out he didn't get hurt, but what if?? What if he damaged his elbow or his hand or any kind of injury with that stunt. He not only put AJ at risk once, but twice and because of that something needed to be done. And there's those of you(the walk away types) that come back and say well then what if when retaliating you end up breaking someone's arm or a hand or something...to that I say...you play with a hot stove you might get burned.
