QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 30, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) Can anyone comment, as far as using OPS to judge a prospect? I like that Young's OPS is over .800, in a pitchers park, and he's walking -- but he's still striking out a whole lot. Should that worry me? I think the strikeouts delay him about a year (maybe half a season) longer than a guy who posts similar numbers, with less strikeouts. Reason being, big league pitchers will be more able to exploit the holes in his swing. It's going to take him a little longer, but that guy has great potential.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) As the founder of the OMIT TIMO saying, I'm not afraid to admit I hate Timo's guts. However, I'm more of a Sox fan than a Timo hater, so I say this......way to go Timo!!! Great time for him to get a hit. My sentiments exactly... QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 30, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) I just got back from the game. Was I the only one wondering why Iguchi was pinch-hit for in the ninth? I mean, 2nd and 3rd, don't you want a good contact hitter up there? Then maybe Everett pinch hit for Timo if Gooch can't get the job done? I thought the same thing.... I think Ozzie just wanted Iguchi out of the game. He had already had 4 defensive miscues in the game. -- He hadn't even had 4 defensive miscues all year -- His head wasn't in the game. All in all, it was a terrible F'n game. Thank God we won, or this board would have blown up, even on a holiday.

I certainly would rather have The Big Hurt hitting 3rd than to have The OC making outs from the 3-spot.

So you're trying to replace .229/.286/.357and great defense with .243/.283/.338 and questionable at best defense? Plus give up prospects/players in the process? Makes sense.... Sign me up. For whatever you're smokin.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 29, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) Does he, for sure? I thought he was out, did not know that. Jas and I decided that he had at least one left.

QUOTE(quickman @ May 29, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) There is no doubt that crede has more trade value, but saying that doesn't mean I would rathe rhave crede. Crede has upside and is young and cheap, hence trade value. personally I would rather have randa. Hope that makes sense. which is why a trade for Randa shouldn't include Crede.... Crede has minor league options left... If a trade were to happen, I'd give joe a plane ticket to Charlotte.

Bobby Jenks a bullpen possibility for this season?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 29, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Baj: 24.2 IP, 1-1, 1.09 ERA, 4 SV, 12 H, 3 ER, 2 HR, 15 BB, 25 K - BB are starting to concern Jenkies: 24.0 IP, 0-1, 3.00 ERA, 12 SV, 21 H, 8 ER, 1 HR, 13 BB, 29 K - BB also a concern. Almost exact same sample size. Tough call when you factor in Jenks talent, but Baj has been facing AAA competition while Jenks is down in AA. I think part of Baj's problem last year was that he was actually around the zone too much... 13 in 25 IP is alot, but when your whip is about 1 you'll be sucessfull. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) The heck with it. Gload isn't as bad as some of you say defensively in the outfield. Well at least not when you compare him with Everett out there. I'm just as comfortable (not that it means I'm comfortable) with Gload out there as I am with Everett out there and Gload is a superior hitter at this point (well a heatlhy Gload) and I don't know if Everett really is healthy. Heck, just watch, the Sox will keep Timo, sent Walker to the minors and than DL Carl Everett (I really think something is wrong with him and if nothing is wrong with him, than he's done cause he can't just continue to cheat on the fastball). I didn't want to put it out there because I know Kenny reads the boards, and I didn't want to give him any ideas, but I've been thinking exactly the same thing RE:Carl.... Also, Shingo, Cotts, and Crede all have options left correct?

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Owned !!! (it better be true) THat was his hits allowed against the first batter entering today... I stopped watching after Garland imploded, so I can't comment on anything Neal did today. I haven't even looked at the boxscore.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 29, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) Because he can NEVER get the first guy that he faces out. He either walks him or gives up a hit. That is frustrating. By the way, those inherited runners that Cotts allows to score don't count against his ERA. Never = 3/13

QUOTE(doUrememberwhen @ May 29, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) maybe we could get linebrink and borroughs from the padres? Why would a first place team, the best team in baseball since April 29th, be looking to subtract from their team in the middle of the season??? doUremembertocheckthestandingsbeforeposting

QUOTE(jerseysox @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) are you joking? morneau hasn't even played a full season yet. paulie is a proven 30-plus homer guy. i'm glad we're not overreacting on this board or anything. I said Morneau was better than Konerko before the season started. You don't have to have a proven major league track record to be good. -
