  1. QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) Bull! If anyone is predicting a below .500 team this year I have seen it on like 2 sites, It is the SOX. They all have the Tribe above .500 at #2 or #3. Omar was older and Lawton SUCKED from the break on dropped some 45 points. Our offense is better. Your rotation is better. Our bullpens are equal. Geeze you guys are bias. I have talked with 3 ppl privately from here who agree! This Forum is much more "fair and balanced" if that's what you seek. They are the Fox News of the Chicago White Sox Message board community.
  2. QUOTE(beck72 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) You should take all this with a grain of salt. And it was a few years ago this report on him. If Ozuna is being given a shot, he should have a decent glove and would have to play SS Don't forget Ozuna has aged about 6 years since that 2002 report. His arm has probably gotten better over that stretch.
  3. I thought Carl was E X P A N D E D last year.
  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) I also saw a new way to "calculate" patience by a hitter. (OBP)-(BA.) :rolly That's not exactly cutting edge stuff right there.... But it is very useful OBP Crede Uribe 2002 .311 .286 2003 .308 .297 2004 .299 .327 Both players have a nice trend going here. So we can assume that Crede must be getting worse at taking walks, and Uribe is getting better right? WRONG ISO Crede Uribe 2002 .026 .046 2003 .047 .043 2004 .060 .044 Uribe has been walking at almost exactly the same rate, his rising OBP was directly tied to his rising BA. Meanwhile, Crede has been walking more often, yet, his OBP has fallen because his BA has been falling.
  5. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) Can somebody please post the article. Sign up, or use bugmenot -- there's at least 1 chicagosports article posted here per day.
  6. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) Um, how does this guy know that SPod is likely to disappoint? :headshake Nine years in the minor leagues -- 0 above .300 seasons -- Career minor league avg of .265. -- 112 SB's in 9 minor league seasons -- .347 career minor league slugging %. One major league season with a .314/.379/.443 and 43 SB's One major league season with a .244/.313/.364 and 70 SB's The better question is why would you think that he's likely to impress?
  7. As the teams stand now, The Cubs are an 82 win team in the worst division in baseball. The Sox are an 85 win team in the second worst... ---------------------- What about Pierzynski makes him inferior to Barret? Barrett is a career .260 hitter with a career .316OBP and a career OPS+ of 81. Pierzynski is a career .294 hitter with a career OBP of .336 and an OPS+ of 100.
  8. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) I miss seeing the Sox on St. Patrick's day. Sure green isn't their color, but it was still pretty cool none the less. My guess is that they'll don green caps for the Cubs game the following day on WGN/
  9. ima watch -- I had a friend to played on that team his senoir year(the first year they implemented the run and chuck offense). He was the teams third leading scorer, and he avg'd over 20 points/game
  10. Harold never was the third base coach. That's Joey Cora. Harold was the Bench Coach last season. And this season he is going to add OF coach/instructor to his duties.
  11. Valentin will still get 400 ABs vs. RHP between SS and 3B.
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) If it would have been turned so that third base was towards the lake, that would get it done No that's facing south.
  13. Baseball stadiums face some degree of east... it's universal. It's in the rulebook. If they wanted the skyline in the OF, they should have built it over by the UC.
  14. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 08:44 AM) Where are your tickets man? I have UD Season Tix too. I don't know exactly -- I bought in with a family freind who was gonna drop his seasons. He says they are "great seats" , second row, behind home plate, UD. I don't have any in my possession, and prolly won't even go to a game until May.
  15. Gene Honda Civic replied to Soxy's topic in SLaM
Does this explain Nickelback, Sum 41, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette and Dave Coulier?
  16. 87% of you show where your true allegience lies... You don't care if the sox win, so long as the cubs lose. -- That's just sad.
  17. Don't break the law dips***.
  18. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Daily Showesque Word Count Freedom: 19 Liberty: 5 Terror: 14 Terrorist: 12 Democracy: 9 Democratic: 6 Poor showing by liberty. Liberty shares a root with Liberal, which as we remember from late October and early November is a bad bad word.
  19. I'm tired of this f***er getting ink and bandwidth -- So here's a KF/Iowa article instead.
  20. Another poll that's gonna be a runaway -- The grammar helps make this one even easier.
  21. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) Yeah I think this is Alford's last year unless he can get this team into the tournament. I don't care if they make some stupid tournament in March. Dr. Tom didn't have these type of problems in IC, and he made the tourney year after year with inferior talent, save the 87 season(that theam was great). Alford gets the talent that plays great until Christmas, then pisses down their legs everytime they hit B10 play. You shouldn't be happy sneaking into the Tourny every few years, or hoping to win 4 games in 4 days in Chicago to steal a spot. f*** Alford for sticking up for this low-life, and f*** Alford for forcing a group of underachievers on us year after year.
  22. Would this have been announced on any other day but Groundhog Day?
  23. I'm a first time season tix holder this year... My brother and I bought in to a group... They have tix the 2nd row UD... First time that I'll be in the UD in the last 4 years. But going to around 20 games is better than going to about 7-8. He's in school outta state though so we're gonna crunch those games between May and the middle of August.
  24. I don't wanna hear about the ALC being the easiest division in baseball -- Houston lost Kent and Beltran Cubbies lost Alou, Clement, and Sosa Cinci's big signing was Eric Milton. Eric f***ing Milton for crying out loud Brewers had a good offseason, but are still a year away, and have no BP. Pittsburgh is gonna have Josh fogg in the rotation again. Josh F'n Fogg. St. Loius went out and got Mark Mulder to the weakest part of their team, which won over 100 games last year feasting on the underbelly of cupcakes in this "toughest division in baseball"
