  1. I knew I'd get that reaction from the Minor league experts round here.
  2. http://www.all-baseball.com/nextyear/archives/015355.html Sox portion:

  4. Just a way to spice up the end of the season -- I'm going to list a whole bunch of different "odd" bets sorta like the YNOT's. Example: which will finish the season higher? Ichiro's BA or the Mariners winning % I'll put a collection of about 10 or so of these prop bets up by the end of the night. Reply to enter. Entries due by Thursday(I may include some football stuff). Winner recieves and original The Cheat™ sig. I should have the questions up before I go to bed.
  5. I thought they had to pay people to go to an IU football game.
  6. Diaz should have never been used -- He threw 98 pitches on Sunday... If he was pitching in the rotation he wouldn't even have been due to throw on the side until tomorrow... I stopped watching as soon as diaz was pulled -- I don't understand why he was the first arm called from the pen.
  7. That's exactly what I would have said...Baj is going to have quite a battle on his hands though... Shingo Adkins Politte -- I think we'll pick up his option Cotts Marte I think are all pretty much locks to make the pen next season, I don't know if Baj fits into their plans. There's only one spot left, and I think they may be looking at getting a proven closer or other top tier reliever... The best hope for baj to make next years roster is the Sox not picking up polittes option, since they will essentially fill the same role.
  8. He's regressed a little bit this year... Oakland also drafted two catchers very high this season, which may tell a little bit about how they feel about Brown. He missed the second half last season with a thumb injury, and wasn't the same early this season... He repeated AA, and has picked it up since the middle of the season, but that doesn't appear, to me at least, to be in Oakland's immediate future plans.
  9. I would say it's good for golf as long as Tiger is still competitve for that #1 spot... it creates interest and more meaning to those smaller tournaments that nobody usually pays attention to.
  10. It was just because of the Holiday -- The Golf tournament was pushed back a day, so they bumped Jeopardy to a later time slot. Tomorrow it will be on normal time -- 3:30 here in Chicago.
  11. Found this funny little blurb on USSMariner.com, referring to Gammons column about the upcoming FA's I think it's pretty much a forgone conclusion around baseball to steer clear of Maggs this off-season.
  12. I liked what I saw -- 12 pitches wasn't enough though -- It seemed like they jumped on him early after he got Jacobsen behind in the count with a couple FB's... He was pounding the zone, and maybe catching a little bit too much of the plate -- I'm sure he'll be fine in the future.
  13. Yep, Minky's a great guy :rolly http://aarongleeman.com/2004_08_29_basebal...393611164382347 Best quote from Big-headed-.240-1st-basemen-doogy.
  14. CWS, you're not the only one -- Even in having listened to the a few of grilli's starts down at charlotte, the only person who tought he was major league ready was an opposing annoucer who was a personal friend of the Grilli's and had played with his father back in the day... And that guy(I don't remember who it was) said Grilli had "control issues". Diaz has more potential than does Grilli, is more likely to contribute to the team next year, and is currently pitching comparably to Grilli. To me, there's just no reason to play Grilli over Diaz.
  15. Selig announced that the game will not be forieted, and will be made up at a later date... You can all unclench your panties now
  16. holy s*** 335 views -- wtf? that was fast.
  17. It's like throwing rocks at a hornets nest. :lol
  18. Wasn't swisher the lone prospect from that draft who both scouts and bookworms agreed upon?
  19. Bush had a rather well documented cocaine habit back in the day...
  20. Are we going to get the "healthy" Garcia who gave up 6HR's and 14ER in 11.1 innings in his last two starts? Diaz and Grilli have pitched better than Garcia of late. Wouldn't Garcia pitching be more or less conceding?
  21. I thought we had him twice before his run, guess not -- still any game vs. Santana is almost an automatic loss.
  22. Nick "Moneyball" Swisher also got the call-up this weekend.
  23. We faced him twice before he corrected a flaw in change-up mechanics coming off of surgery.
