I know that I can't be the only person here who's been drawn into her web. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about. Here's a quick synopsis. Lonelygirl15 appears to be a young (claims to be 16) girl who posts video blogs on YouTube from her suburban bedroom. At first, she appeared to be just another face in the crowd, albiet a strikingly pretty, seemingly innocent, face. But as the videos have unfolded, there has been a deep and layered storyline developing. Among the plot points are overprotective parents, a secretive religion, and an unrequited crush from her friend and 'editor' Daniel. The series of videos now has more people believing they are fake, putting on a show, than actually believe this is a real collection of video diaries of a 16 year-old girl. The search for the truth has lead to forums being created, and stories in the LA and NY Times. So who else here has been watching these things? What's going on here?

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) Why do Thornton and Mac get a free pass when they were responsible for 2 key losses vs. the Twins and Oz is blamed for everything on here? I am just saying when those guys trot in there I am not confident. Can you honestly say you are happy when both come in?? Twins fans hate Joe Nathan too. That bastard blew a save to the White Sox. Oh and Dennys Reyes sucks too. Did you see him load the bases and get pulled in the middle of an at-bat? The should have sent him to Rochester after that. Pat Neshek gave up a game tying HR. Can't be trusted anymore.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) The Fighting Manginos of Kansas destroy Northwestern State. Red Shirt Frosh Kerry Meier had a great game, and running back Jon Cornish has a good shot of winning the big 12 rushing title. Did Adrian Peterson lose both legs in yesterday's game? Because as long as he's got one of them, he'll run away with the B12 rushing title. -
This team needs to make some changes...
Gene Honda Civic replied to BearSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Freddy Garcia has allowed less than 3 runs to an AL opponent only three times this season, and just once since May 10th. That's once in 17 starts. Over that same time span, he's allowed 5 or more runs 11 times. Less than 3: 1 time; 5 or more: 11 times! The White Sox record with Javier Vazquez on the mound is 13-13. The White Sox record with Jose Contreras on the mound? 13-13, including 2-10 in the last 12. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) When things actually got hot, McCarthy recroded one loss and one no decision in a loss in late September against pretty average teams (Minnesota, Detroit) Ah yes, 3 runs or less in both starts. 4 runs in 14.1 innings. The kid can't hack it. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) Am I allowed to say that this team has quit on Ozzie? Also, does anyone know what our record is since the comment made about Mariotti? The team hasn't quit. There are huge holes in the team, however, and those holes are using Ozzie's admission from yesterday "his guys" -
QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) I wouldn't necessarily say that Count has an injury. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) Can someone please calculate what our starting pitchers ERA is against AL teams this season? 25 minutes later.... Google spreadsheets doesn't allow that many cells. f***er crashed my computer. The answer, after opening up Office, is 4.69 for the season removing the NL. and 4.96 since the ASG -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) Big diff from AAA to mlb. Last I looked the team has the WC lead. I'll take mlb talent over AAA. BMAC has 125 innings and over a year of service time! He's not a AAA player. That's Freddy Garcia with his 88 MPH fastball and hanging curveball. The WC lead is out the window if it's not 3 or more when we head to the west coast. Dropping these games is inf***ingexcusable. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) There is a difference between defending this staff (I'm not) and defending a "these are the guys to win or lose with, making changes for the sake of making changes is a bad strategy" (I am) Well if you need 7 runs for a victory with a specific pitcher on the mound. You need a whole truckload of denial to continue to play the changes for the sake of changes card. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) wtf? this is kansas and we get our asses kicked. Still feel like defending this sorry ass pitching staff? Garcia hasn't won a game against an AL opponent with less than 7 runs support in 3 months. -

Phillips has also been all over the White Sox nuts when discussing first the division, now the wild card. He always comes back to the same thing. We have the best pitching. You know 88MPH freddy, undisclosed injury Count, 5-and-dive Javy, left my confidence in '05 Buehrle and Garland.

QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) I was wondering if someoe who has seen Sweeney play, or read some scouting reports could give me some specifics on him. Such as.......... 1) What is his on base percentage? 2) Is he patient at the plate and good at fighting off pitches and taking walks? 3) Is he quick out of the box? 4) How is his speed compared to Pods? 5) When stealing bases, is he a "JOLT" from the get-go, or does it take him a while to get it going, because the frst step in stealing is probably the most important. 6) Is he more of a power hitter, or scrappy like some players on Minnesota ? 7) Does he strike out a lot, or is he more of a contact guy? I know it's a lot of questions, and would require a long reply, but obviously him and Fields look to be our future, so in reality, these questions that I pose, really pertain to both. Would appreciate any/all info that can be given on these guys whether they pertain to the above questions, or anything else you may wish to add. Anything can always happen differently in the Majors than what they did in AAA, but would just like to know what to look for in these guys, and be abe to pass along your input to some guys at work who have been asking many specifics on both of them. Thanks!! Here's how I'll answer it.... Podsednik is .143/.273/.214 in the first inning since the All-Star break. None of the rest of that s*** matters when he's never on base.

Minnesota Twins Post Mortem Playoff Thread
Gene Honda Civic replied to hammerhead johnson's topic in The Diamond Club
Can somebody explain the Twins game to me... They scored 4 runs in the top of the 8th, but New York was never given the opportunity to match in the bottom of the 8th (or at least that's how the MLB.com box score reads.) Only one batter was pitched to... I thought the rule was that you had to finish the inning, unless the home team was ahead, for the game to be official. -- I suppose they could have wiped the Twins runs in the 8th and called the game after the 7th for the Twins (2-1), but you can't say they won the game 6-1 when they got 3 extra outs. Officially, the 8th inning didn't happen. -

QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) Just remember, whoever McCarthy replaces in the rotation this year, we're stuck with next year. Otherwise known as the Transitive Property of Orlando Hernandez .... Oh wait!
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) How about some consistent innings? If all you're looking for is 5 innings, we have that. It is a tough transistion, with proably a sacrificial start thrown in. I think it would not be enough of an upgrade to warrent the lineup change. Contreras has allowed 6 or more runs in 5 of his last six starts. Vazquez & Garcia have two quality starts against AL opponents since July. All McCarthy would have to do is not get killed as consistently as our pitching has been to be an upgrade. f***, our pitching has been consistent. We've got that down. I'm looking for sporadically good at this point.

This is going to be routine this season. ESPN will put a better game on ESPNU because it's not widely available, and thus will have people demanding access through their cable company. I suspect you'll see the Big Ten there the most, because they're in the middle of plans for a Big Ten network, like CSN, where all the schools would be part owners. ESPN, obviously, doesn't like this. And if I recall right, the Big Ten-ESPN football deal only runs through the end of this season. It's all a power play.
