2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Gene Honda Civic replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Should be interesting getting a look at Josh Fields. Is it just me or are the Sox calling up way more guys this year than usual? Stewart, Haeger, Logan, Sweeney, Fields, Owens and Tracey? I don't remember the Sox calling up 7 any other season in which they were halfway decent. We've never really had that much AAAA talent before. For as maligned as the system is, we've got a lot of 'prospects' at the high minors. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:09 AM) Eh, I really disagree with this. Jon was awful the first two months of this season and last year he was pretty consistant through out. I don't want to take anything away from Jon though, he's no doubt become our best pitcher. You're both right. Jon's best 15-16 game stretch last season doesn't match the run he's on right now, it's about half a run per game worse, with twice as many HR allowed. But Jon's start was just so poor, that I'd take last year over this one. That being said, the future looks bright. He should be able really put together a nice season again next year and be among the league's best pitchers again. For s***s and giggles.... If you remove the starts from the calendar year 6/10/05-6/10/06, and, for no reason in particular, add the first part of last season with the second part of this year.... You have a pitcher who's gone 23-3 with a 3.02 ERA and a WHIP of 1.15 in 196 innings pitched. He allowed only 11 HR and just 33 BB in that stretch of 28 starts, averaging 7 innings per start.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) That would probably be Lance's best outing for the year considering some of the opposition as well. Very promising to see indeed. Don't read too much into it. Toledo lead the league in Ks by more than 100. They prided themselves on swinging for the fences. His start that was wiped out due to rain was against Toledo also, so he really had 9.2 innings pitched against them this year, with 18K and 3BB, but 4R because they were able to take him deep a couple times. The club is filled with AAAA power guys with high K totals. Think Dallas McPhereson.

If there's a three way tie for the division...
Gene Honda Civic replied to Rex Kickass's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I believe it's division record to decide the division champ, with the remaining two playing a 1-game playoff. Detroit's got the divison record salted away already. Sox and twins are both only around .500 in the division. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) Two straight Clones games that were way closer than they should be. God, this means they are gonna just whipe the floor against the Hawkeyes. I sure hope Tate is 100% for the Cyclone game, we will need him, especially considering how ISU always brings there A game for us and we usually bring about our C game. I agree. Iowa has no shot. They don't have a QB, a kicker, a RB who can rush for a 100 yards, or a wide receiver who can catch the ball. They're screwed. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) After Iowa's scare, I know exactly how Nole fans feel, but the hell with that, Lets go TROY!!!! At least Iowa was on the road, and without their starting QB. FSU's excuse is Drew Weatherford. -

Iowa's sunk if Tate doesn't play in the second half. Gerry f***in' McNamera will hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win it. -

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) For those of you in Indiana, how in the hell did Warren Central beat Ben Davis 76-7?? Was that a misprint? Curveballs. Lots of Curveballs. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) Offensive wise, not that bad Pitching wise, not so good. I don't agree with that. There are only 3, maybe 4, interesting position players in the system. Sweeney, Fields, & Cunningham... On the pitching side of things, there are a number of players who are still worth watching. Broadway, Haeger, Logan, Phillips, Russell, Harrell (does anyone know if he was injured in B'ham?), Perez, Rice, even Whisler. Plus there's the new blood McCulloch, Long, OMGrosso, Edwards.

I just watched the final The Office: accountants webisodes. What did the little piece of paper say? the one that ended up positioned on Angela's forehead from Kevin's point of view...

QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) Guillen's worth is measured by the fact that there isn't a "Buehrle Haters" thread right now. He takes ALL the heat so he players dont have to. Where's the Buehrle haters thread? Cat was throwing BP tonight. I don't think you understand the tone of this thread. The thread was started by somebody defending Ozzie's piss poor management, and calling out the "Ozzie Haters". No one in there right mind is defending Mark Buehrle, hence, no "Buehrle Haters" thread. Comprede?

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) 80 runs for a leadoff hitter in the AL isn't exactly being a catalyst. I'm so calling Pods the catalytic converter from now on.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) The funniest PFB call in of the year bar none. The guy said since the sox plays in New York that we look like a "bunch of morons trying to hump a doorknob." I saw a video of that once on YouTube

Mackowiak-Anderson-Dye in the OF tonight. Pablo botches plays at 3B. -
QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) Yes. You can DL someone to make room for a September call-up. I remember in 2004, it was in the papers, the Cubs put Ramon Martinez on the DL so Niefi Perez could be on the playoff roster. Shockingly, I don't remember that.... I wonder why

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) I can't even say anything negative about that video, i've done kelly clarkson drunk way too many times.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Ozzie says that Sweeney will start on Thurs night. Looks like another night off for Anderson, as I'd imagine Ozuna will be in LF. Somebody should tell Ozzie that BA has never gone 0-6. But somehow Sweeney "reminds me of Ozzie Guillen" So we know why Sweeney will stay in there, not that it makes much sense....
