  1. Why isn’t Vaughn playing 3B and Leary 2B? Really hope Vaughn isn’t hurt covering a DP or SB attempt. Would rather see Tony or Miguel Cairo play 2B, don’t care if either gets hurt out there.
  2. Solid pickup, the type I posted yesterday I thought Hahn would ultimately acquire. I’m just hoping Rain Man actually uses Hernandez, and also doesn’t feel the need to continue to play Leury every single day (2B, RF, CF, plus spelling Tim and Yoan) as the missing puzzle piece to his RLRLRLRL lineup obsession. Leury should be playing twice a week, at most, after this acquisition.
  3. What I liked this season was the improvement in his defense and playing within himself. He was trying too hard last year and to start the season, ended up making bad fielding and baserunning plays, including the one that injured his shoulder (running through the third base coach's stop sign, getting out and hurt all on one play). If he can find a way to stay healthy, he should be OK. That said, I want an upgrade in infield depth from Mendick/Garcia, someone you'd feel comfortable with filling in the middle infield, possibly also 3rd base, for a few weeks and not fret about either side of the equation. The Sox should be fine in the OF, but need more depth in the infield across the organization. They made a good step with this year's draft, but it will take time for these players to work their way through the system. The one true "need" for the post-season, or to survive the stretch to get there, are relievers Tony is going to use. You are already postponing Kopech and Crochet's development for yet another year out of desperation because you weren't willing to spend to bring in a few solid set-up men this off-season.
  4. Kopech is the best pitcher in the bullpen. He needs to work on being the best pitcher in the rotation. Don't see that happening until there is a change in manager.
  5. Well, at least the players Rick acquired this month have taken the sting out of this one. [Narrator: Rich Hahn acquired Deivy Grullon a few weeks earlier]
  6. And Liam's Tourette Syndrome act has gotten old quick.
  7. And that's the ballgame. Fuck you Tony.
  8. In games a good manager can make a difference, the Sox are underperforming. Sox record in 1 run games: 10-13 .434 Sox record in 2-4 run games: 30-17 .638 Sox record in 5+ run games: 20-11 .645
  9. So glad Tony took out Vaughn instead of Leury. Get the benefit of his clutch hitting.
  10. Yes, he's not an issue in LF. If anything, you take Leury out in RF, but you can't because there are no other infielders available if someone goes down, another reason Garcia should never start in the OF with the current roster, there are plenty of OFers here. So sick of Rain Man's decisions.
  11. Oh Boy, this game is tied.
  12. Smoke and mirrors, my friend. Smoke. And. Mirrors.
  13. Kopech will remain as a reliever as long as Pop Pop can eat soup.
  14. I remember when posters were saying Lucas wasn't even good enough to make the playoff rotation several weeks ago. Good times.
  15. Kopech is warming up, will likely pitch the 8th.
  16. More terrible fundamentals by the Royals, Sox fortunate once again.
  17. Fuck Tony for starting Garcia in RF, he has enough starts already at 2B.
  18. Not to mention his toxicity. Hard pass. Cease ($50,2M) and Z. Collins ($1.1M) for Hendricks ($4.3M), Bryant ($13.9M), Contreras ($31.4M) and Kimbrel ($6.3M), yes please. (MLB Trade Values)
  19. Len says Tim is likely off tomorrow. Wouldn’t mind Jose, Yoan and or Eloy off as well. Hopefully three months of baseball to go.
  20. Yep, nothing or that in terms of position players. Hoping the are able to land at least one fungible reliever.
  21. Hopefully Tony doesn’t try to push it with Lucas and Rodon the next two days. Its 97 now, will go 100 tomorrow with heat index close to a dozen points higher. Like to see 80-90 pitches, ample use of the bullpen, get back home healthy.
  22. German Marquez is who I like best from Colorado, they got him for a great contract. Too bad for him, they have nothing else to build around. May as well burn down the mission there, send Story, Blackmon and Gray to the Dodgers, they are the only team not bothered by the absurd "luxury" tax.
  23. I believe they will target a a reserve player, not a "star", that can spell Leury and a few other positions. It will allow the team to send Mendick down, and hopefully rest Leury more. Perhaps a Garrett Hampson from Colorado, or David Bote as part of a deal with the Cubs. Don't think it's likely, but this is what I would expect if the Sox acquire a position player.
