Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
I wouldn’t say the Yankees haven’t improved, if healthy Taillon and Kluber could be really big additions - those are big ifs but what if Lynn/Kuechel/Abreu regress, Moncada is 2018 Moncada, Robert goes through a sophomore slump, Eloy is hurt and out for a bit, Cease and or Kopech don’t turn a corner, Eaton doesn’t provide anything, Crochett or Bummer get hurt again (Regardless of how either is feeling now, a nerve issue for Bummer and forearm issue for Crochett is troubling) the Sox aren’t prepared for any of that. We were told the money would be spent to solidify this thing, they have an opportunity to shut us up and step on the gas pedal but instead they’re tapping on it.

Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
He’s on a 1 year deal and was ass last year, if they’re gonna give up more assets for a pitcher it’s gonna be one with control

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Pros and cons to both - I think they explored trades with all teams with Dunning as the headliner and realized they wouldn’t get Snell/Castillo/Gray with Dunning and settled on the next best option which is fine cuz Lynn is good and the Rangers arguably could have waited and gotten a bunch of young kids based on how the trades have gone down this offseason.

Sox vs. Yankees Comparison
I would try and aim higher for Woodruff or Castillo if they’re trading Vaughn and then sign Ozuna, that would leave absolutely no doubt in my mind they’re the favorite in the AL and truly then in the discussion as a World Series contender. But we can’t have nice things so I’m just sitting here hoping Lynn doesn’t show his age, Kuechel doesn’t regress, Robert doesn’t face the sophomore slump, Moncada bounces back, Abreu doesn’t regress, Eloy turns a real corner, and Adam Eaton to do anything. There’s so much bad that can happen to this team that minor upgrades won’t make up for but what do I know...

Sox vs. Yankees Comparison
If they trade Vaughn they better sign Marcell Ozuna instead
-
The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
We went from wanting Bauer -> Snell -> Darvish -> Musgrove -> Burnes -> Quintana -> Richards -> to now being cool with Adam f**king Wainwright..... c’mon guys this is a joke, the fact that Jerry has a budget in place for a team contending for a World Series is disgusting

Jameson Taillon traded to Yankees
And high school kids which the Sox don’t do, they’re always behind the trend never in front of it which is embarrassing for a big market team
-
Sox vs. Yankees Comparison
Yanks just got Taillon - if heathy I’d rather be the Yankees than the WhiteSox right now. Sox can’t sit back and sign Wainwright and La Stella gotta think bigger here
-
Sox vs. Yankees Comparison
Signing Marcell Ozuna would end this argument but we don’t live in such a world where the owner cares enough so I expect La Stella to be DH and the Yankees to then curb stomp Kuechel/Cease/Reynaldo/Kopech

The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
This should be the outlook we have not “well Wainwright is fine” nah f**k that as currently constructed I don’t know if you take this team in a 7 games series against the Yankees let alone the Padres/Dodgers - the goal is to win a championship not be content with mediocrity
-
The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
No we just sat through a pile of crap and mediocrity for years we want more
-
The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
Cruz is in the lineup everyday so yes I’d much rather have Cruz than Wainwright.
-
The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
Agreed I’d much rather they pay for Cruz than sign Wainwright, if the choice is between: Cease/Reynaldo 4th/5th starters + Nelson Cruz Or Wainwright 4th starter and Collins DH then give me the former all day
-
The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
So they sign Wainwright for $7 mil and Eaton for $8 mil - I’d rather have paid James McCann $15 mil then give a penny to either of those guys. This organization tries to get cute and fails constantly. Signing Wainwright only justifies many fan’s rationale about the Hendriks situation. When they had so many other needs but instead spent $13 mil on a closer, we had no choice but to just be fine with it because if they didn’t land Hendriks how else they would have distributed that money.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
The Padres

The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
??????? this organization is so damn frustrating

the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Say the cost was Vaughn and the WhiteSox then signed Marcell Ozuna, would we still be pissed that Vaughn was in the deal
-
the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
I believe that’s probably the package plus one more and think it’s crazy that anybody saying that’s a lot for a pitcher with potential to take over the #2 spot in the rotation with contract control.
-
the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
They could move Hiura to 1B with Madrigal at 2B, of course they’d want Vaughn but I also feel like the Brewers and Sox have enough of a working relationship to have ideas on other players that could make a deal work, I don’t think Vaughn has to be included - Kopech maybe
-
the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
If TA, Eloy, Moncada, Robert, Giolito, Grandal, Abreu aren’t included in the deal does it really hurt though? Those are the best players on the team the ones we need here to truly have a shot. I get losing some young kids with potential would stink but man Burnes was really damn good last year could have the potential to be the 2nd best pitcher on this team - it should be a no brainer
-
the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Maybe Cease & Madrigal + lottery ticket Madrigal shifts Hiura to 1B Cease doesn’t necessarily replace Burnes but the Brewers see the upside this offseason in Dylan. That’d be a pretty fair deal IMO
-
the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Then you do it and hope Cease figures things out with 4 reliable starting pitchers in front of him
-
the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
No it doesn’t - Moncada was the number 1 at worst number 2 prospect in all of baseball at the time.
-
the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
All a smokescreen to sign Springer ??? STOVE IS ??? Wish it was true at least
-
the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
This isn’t me saying the Brewers are just gonna give up Burnes for nothing but it seems like Rick Hahn and David Stearns seem to have a pretty good working relationship, we’ve known the Sox and Brewers have had dialogue for a while so there could be some real smoke here, I hope cuz Burnes would be a really good fit
