  1. Can we find more pitchers with ERA’s above 6? This spring training is shaping up to be a big joke.
  2. That’s your choice not to debate. Attendance will struggle forever until they get rid of current management and the piece of crap location of this ballpark. I get it, you live 2 blocks away and don’t have to travel an hour or more. Don’t have to pay $25 to park and battle crazy rush hour traffic. You have dinner at home before the game, probably if your old enough have a beer or 2 at home before the game and don’t spend any money on the ridiculous concession prices and your in bed before we even leave the parking lot. My bet is you might not even go to the games. No guts to debate Isn’t that what this is all about, debate, opinions and fun.
  3. got to diagree with you. don't know how old you are but the Sox were going to move to Addison before that piece of s%*# was built and turned the wrong way with no room for a fan expeirence like Fenway or even Wrigley now. Your going to diasgree heavily with my last statement that i know is a fact, it sucks trying to get to Sox Park on a weekday from the burbs for a 7:10 start. A lot of Sox Fans now live outside of the city. Yes, the South Side is White Sox country but the Sox fans with money now live in the western suburbs. I live in the NW suburbs, used to attend 10 to 15 games a year. With the traffic conditions, starting time and quality of the team, i will not be attending 10 to 15 games this year. Maybe 4 or 5 weekend games. Average traveling time 10 years ago was 50 minutes to an hour, now with the worst expressway system it take up to to 90 minutes to get to a game. addison or arlington heights has much better expressway options. And before you bring it up, i will now under no circumstances will i take the train, with the crime rate on the Trains to the city, The Blue line and red line, i will not put my wife and kids lives in jeporday. The Train is not an option with the number of connections and crime now on the trains, ESPECIALLY at night for the ride home. A suburban location with needed the Keenedy or Dan Ryan is the way to go.
  4. Diamondbacks and the Orioles each have 3 in the top 15, very sad that the best we can do is 38 and 85 and markets like Baltimore and Arizona have 3 each in the top 15. As all of us have said, clean house and or sell the team.
  5. The obvious solution is to buy a piece of Arlington Park from the Bears, build a new stadium that holds only about 22k to 25k so every night looks like a sell out. Since they don’t want to spend on their payroll, they won’t need all those seats anyway. Sox attendance averages well under 30k anyway. They’ll save on payroll. When they draw there usual 22k, the park will look full for TV All seat could be lower bowl seats
  6. Also one of the better hitting pitchers in the game. Gary Peters and Joel Horlen was a preety good 1-2 punch in the 60's
  7. I don’t care how this ends up. I want this to be English Law, not American Law. In Great Britain you are guilty until proven innocent. And there’s no chance in hell he’s going to found innocent. As I said before, “ HE GONE”. Get rid of him, stretch out Martin or whoever the next man up in AA or AAA is next up. Stiever, Martin, Avila, whoever. Because of Hendriks out it makes Lopez a defacto closer I belive at this time with Graveman. I don’t see a trade for a starter who’s available and they’re going to bleed us for a good one. Hope Kopech is on schedule for opening day.
  8. It’s now even more obvious that one of these options need to happen fire Hahn fire Hahn and Williams The least likely scenario JR sells the team boycott, hit them in the wallet.
  9. It’s got to stop or else nobody will sign anyone soon without a lie detector test.
  10. That’s a real BS REASON. CBA is bullshit if teams can get screwed over. Rules have to change. Information doesn’t have to out to go out the general public, but information should be shared amongst the owners/GM’s on free agents where something like this can impact a roster and payroll. There needs to be a buyer beware label on these players between GM’s. I’m old enough and I’m sure others on this blog remember Owners back in the 80’s colluded to not sign other teams free agents. Carlton Fisk was still kind of in his Prime. Not one team offered him a contract. The same happened with other stars. They talked among themselves then. Clevinger was a free agent. SD didn’t have to dump him to get out from under his contract. If they knew they should have said something to any team that wanted to sign him.
  11. Just go get Madrigal and end this second base bullshit
  12. PS, should of just kept Cueto!!!!
  13. Looks Davis Martin gets the job!!!! LOL
  14. i would agree, he didn't do his homework and should be fired. Now does that mean in the future you have to ask " did you recently beat your wife and or kids? Did you molest any minors or anyone for that matter? Maybe there has to be a Questionaire of honesty and if they lied, they are suspended for LIFE!!!! THis is not the Armed Forces with "don't ask, don't tell"
  15. If that's true and the MLB knew last summer, than SD had to know also. I don't buy it the SD didn't know if MLB knew last summer? Why would the MLB not tell teams "buyer beware" ? Unless there's an escape claus in contracts that abstain you when the truth comes out. BUT even you you don't have to pay, you used a roster spot and other pitchers get signed and your s%*# out of luck and can't relpace him. The Sox kind of deserve it for always going bottom feeding and trying to be cheap.
  16. Looks like every free agent going forward will need to be investigated thourghly. You can't take any chances with millions od dollars at stake and spots on your roster. Clevinger is now branded as Bauer Part 2. put his picture up at the gates in Arizona and don't let him in the ballparks.
  17. ok, but i want dates, did this info come to the attention of SD and the MLB before the Sox signed him. That's the bottom line.
  18. BUT, I believe SD knew and that neglected to tell us? Did we even ask SD or Clevinger "is there anything in your past recently that could screw things up down the road? He's our George Santos now, but we're not stuck with him. We should wait for the suspension so we don't have to pay him for sure, BUT MY VOTE IS " HE GONE"
  19. Scary thought having Eloy playing ANY outfield position. He pulls a hammy just running to 1st base!!!! He should stay as a DH. Although I'm all in going to the Houston game to see Abreu and get a "Hi Mom" Eloy Bobblehead.
  20. I think TA will step up and be the leader. Liam MIGHT have stepped up if wasn't for his health, but i think TA, will be the leader. sort of agree with Scooter, Vaughn may emerge as the the leader eventually if he can handle the pressure. Robert could be a darkhorse and let's not forget Benitendi MAYBE.
  21. yes, i loved Allen, but he was a premadonna. Got special treatment, we'd never know if was going to show up until you saw the top of his red helmet walking back and forth in the dugout. He was a talent extradinaire. Never went to spring training, never took batting practice and still put up great numbers. If he wasn't beaten into the ground unfairly by the Philly fans, he'd be in the HOF and stayed in Philly for his whole career. Ther racist Philly fans would throw things at him when he was at 1st Base. That's why he started wearing a helmet on defense. They literally had to trade him to save his life. Look up the story on what happened. It was disgusting.
  22. Even though we received Dick Allen for Tommy John, in hindsight Allen lasted 2 years and Tommy John goes on to win another 200 games with 3 20 win seasons and 288 total wins and a whopping 162 complete games and of course the poster boy for the surgery named after him. I’d love 2 TJ’s on my staff!!!
  23. That’s because we had 2 great GM’s that knew how to deal. Today we have a moron who traded away Madrigal and Huer for Kimbrel, TLR used him as a 7th or 8th inning replacement sometimes in the 6th. We have idiots today who are out of touch with the world. Hemond was the best and had balls, brought in Dick Allen, which created excitement for a couple of years. Chuck Tanner as a manger I believe. Ed Shorts moves bringing us Tommy Agee who went on to become part of the miracle Mets of 1969 and bringing back Romano. Hemond bringing us Seaver was brilliant also. Now we’re stuck with an aging owner and a handcuffed GM. Even if he wasn’t handcuffed he’d still screw things up. Sale for Moncada??? Madrigal for Kimbrel???
  24. Great points, BUT 1st of all Montgomery is going to replace Anderson at SS in 2 years when the Sox don't renew his Contract 2nd Crochet i believe is ALMOST untouchable unless it's a much bigger star than Chisholm. 3rd Sosa and Gonzalez would have to really have great springs, and even then the pressure of the regular season is much tougher than the Spring Training. 4th I believe Chisholm has 2 years of control and if he got to expensive, then Sosa and or Gonzalez would be ready. Great Post, will organized and you made great points to think about.
