just something to post, a comparison mostly about the front office’s and what they accomplished The Cubs basically redesigned there entire roster, they definitely needed more than the Sox but in my opinion they outdid the the Sox Cubs — Swanson , Bellinger, Taillon, Barnhart, Hosmer, Mancini, plus many minor adjustments. Sox— Clevenger, Benintendi, Hamilton, some minor adjustments Cubs up the middle now — SS Swanson, 2nd Horner/ Madrigal CF Bellinger C Gomes/Barnhart Sox up the middle now — SS Anderson, 2nd ????? , CF Robert, C Grandal/Zavala Corner infielders Cubs—- 1st Base/DH Hosmer, Mancini, Wisdom 3rd Baseman Wisdom Sox — 1st Base/DH Vaughn , Sheets, Jimenez 3rd Baseman Moncada, Burger Corner Outfielders Cubs —- Left Happ Right Suzuki Sox —- Left Benintendi Right Colas Starting Pitching and Bullpen too much to list but I’ll give the Sox the edge even without Hendriks Bench is up to interpretation. Sox —- Garcia, Hamilton Sosa, Gonzalez, currently the 2nd Baseman will come from this crew 3rd Base, Burger Cubs—- Madrigal, Hosmer Mancini Morel and others to be determined The Sox currently have 6 starters, Gio, Lynn Cease, Kopech, Clevinger, and Alternate if a pitcher goes down, Martin Bullpen still solid even with Hendriks out for an extended period ( I think the Sox knew he had cancer and did the right thing and not traded him) , that would of looked shady if they traded him. Kelly could be used in a trade to clear some payroll Burger and Sheets are trade chips to help get a legit everyday 2nd baseman. Benintendi was a good move, would have been nice to get Conforto to give Colas more experience Gleyber Torres or Madrigal trade possible? Cubs spent more, made many more moves. Taking a chance on Bellinger for 1 year at 17 million in that hitters park a good move, will Suzuki be what he’s supposed to be? Will they trade Madrigal to the Sox or anyone? Mancini and Hosmer could alternatives at DH/1st Base. Sox gambling on Clevinger for 1 year at 13 million, might work out, more of an insurance policy if Kopech isn’t ready Can the Sox still get a legit full time 2nd baseman still? Doubt it, Torres and Madrigal seem to be the only ones still out there worth it . The Cub front office was much more aggressive with low risk 1 and 2 year contracts Sox afraid to spend and risk trading Sheets, Burger, Colas etc this is a discussion to have fun with, things could still change HOPEFULLY Not sold on the current makeup of the team VERY WEAK BENCH

I agree with what you're saying and I'm also opposed to a retread guy also, but the pickings are slim, but I don't consider Chaz a retread if you look at his numbers, they're pretty good. Now we'll never get him because of what they'll ask for, which will probably be too much and JR/KW/RH will not bend. and don't be hurt, i wasn't hurt when you critized me about my posts. We're here to have fun. Here is his past couple of years and he's only 24. the stats below will be the reason the price will be to high, but i think it would be great. Before Squrmin for Yermin criticizes the post, which I know he will for bringing up what the remaining major hole in the lineup is, 2nd Base. Right Field will be Colas, we all know that, until Hendriks returns it might be Lopez/Graveman/Chrochet (if he’s healthy) combo as closers. I suspect we will not go out and spend money or players for closer at this time. Miami is deep with infielders and especially at 2nd. They have a guy that they are not thrilled with because of attitude problems. Rumor has it that they would trade him for the right package. Chaz Chisholm. I’ve looked at his numbers and they are pretty decent. Decent power numbers when he gets the at bats. He’s a fair fielder, not a gold glove but average. Bats in the 250’s steals about 15 bases, with 500 to 600 at bats he good hit 20 HR’s and steal 20 bases. Rumor is also that Gleyber Torres could be on the market, but I doubt it. Chaz might be the answer. Not saying we have the right combo to get him or he’s actually on the market, but we can dream. Only dreaming so please don’t say I’m crazy. Need something to focus on until the NFL DRAFT and Spring Training.

2nd Base I guess it’s going to be Sosa or Gonzalez?
AJ'S Cousin replied to AJ'S Cousin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I believe the solution is still Elvis. A 2 year deal is appropriate for about 10 to 12 million. We lost out on all the other legitimate 2nd basemen. No trades on the horizon, no idiotic ideas please like Garcia playing 80 games at second, converting Burger to 2nd Base. Elvis is the answer for now if he’s willing to play second. If he insists on playing SS then no, don’t sign him. Sosa and Gonzalez are a risk but we may have no choice. -

Elvis is the answer for a year or 2 til we get rid of Hahn LOL -
One of the last of the legit 2nd Baseman is gone. Jean Segura is signed by Miami. I don’t see see Burger taking grounders at second. Don’t see Moncada moving to to 2nd and Burger playing 3rd. Elvis is still out there I think and could fill the hole for a year or 2

Everyone is not understanding my thoughts. The top free agent outfielders are all gone. Our options CURRENTLY are Colas, Sheets, and yes we all know he’s not an outfielder and yes, we don’t know if Colas can handle the pressure with his limited time in Charlotte. Sheets, if he’s still on the team is a backup DH, 1st baseman. Hamilton is now the backup center fielder I guess along with Mr. Everything and we’re still stuck with Garcia. This thread is for what options still may be out there. I’m not saying it’s Colas or Sheets. I’d prefer trading Sheets for something while he’s still worth something. TELL ME what we have on the 40 man roster to play right field. What is a fair trade for a right fielder that another team would accept. We can’t get the guy a really want from Pittsburgh. From Arizona we didn’t have enough for Varsho. We didn’t want to spend the money for Conforto. Another disaster would be putting Benny in Right, Jimenez in left and Sheets as DH. Not my idea of what I’d do so don’t jump on me. Would Pittsburgh accept a Colas and ??? For Reynolds? Just a thought. Bears are doing ok on offense at least.
-
With the Giants signing Conforto, the Blue Jays acquire Varsho, there’s not much left out there. It looks like Benny in left, Robert in center and by default Colas/Sheets in right. I’m not sure what’s out there to trade for or sign. The price for Reynolds has now gone sky high Any suggestions?

You can if you trade Hendrik's ( I don’t recommend doing it or trade Moncada.). If the Sox God Forbid are out of it at the trade deadline they're going to trade him. We can get by with closer by committee. Lopez, Graveman, Crochet ( if healthy). Hendriks value may never be higher than right now. We are not going to win the WS this, we’ll be better and might make the playoffs or even win the division. We need to see what Burger can do also. You don’t know which Moncada you’ll get. Trade him then to afford Conforto or tell Moncada to go back to 2nd base and play Burger at 3rd. Elvis is my solution for 2nd if he’d agree to do it on a 2 year deal.
-
If you guys really want to make a splash, sign Conforto to a deal, solidify the outfield and show the Northsiders that we are serious also. Clevenger was ok, Benetendi was a step in the right direction. Sign Conforto, leave Corlas in AAA For the 1st. Benitendi, Robert and Conforto in the Outfield is worth at least 4 to 5 wins.

Jesse Rogers: Sox Sign Benintendi - 5yr / $75M
AJ'S Cousin replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm late to this discussion, BUT considering what the options are or were because of JR wanting to tighten the belt and not overspend, it was a good move, not a great move but he is a legimate Left Fielder which will take some of the wear and tear on Roberts legs not having to worry about balls hit to his right. He is a left handed bat and that was sorely needed. I'm not sure about Corlas's defensive accumen. If he's average, if he's as fast as they say he is an let's face it, anybody in right who is an outfielder by trade is better than having Vaughn or Sheets or Garcia out there. We probably win 3 to 5 more games with this outfield. We need to see if Corlas can hit. He'll struggle until maybe the All Star break and hopefully get better. Whether we compete (note I'm not saying win) for the central will depend on 3 factors. 1. which Moncada are we getting? 2. which Grandahl are we getting 3. which Clevenger are we getting The starters can get us by, the bullpen should be healthier, TA should ge healed, and if we go with Sosa at second, I'm good. There still may be a legit second baseman out there, personally I'd give Andrus a 2 year deal to play second. The other alterantive, and it's a BIG stretch, move Moncada to 2nd and roll the dice on Burger at 3rd, but as I said, that's the very last resort if Sosa completely chokes and bombs out. -
Brandon Nimmo resigns with Mets 8yrs 162M

TA likes ominous tweet: The trade Anderson thread
AJ'S Cousin replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Here’s what’s going to happen. The Sox will sign no one of any significants. Nimmo and Conforto will sign somewhere else. Reynolds will get traded to a team that will overpay with a couple top 30 prospects The Sox will make a couple of stupid trades to save money. We will play Sosa at second, Corlas in Right or Left. We’re stuck with Grandal and Seby. They’re going to Trade Hendriks at the trading deadline and maybe even trade Anderson. Because of a decent starting staff, they be right around.500 again JR, Kenny and Hahn will come up with excuses and have to tear it down and start over. We all know that Robert, Grandal , Jimenez and Moncada will be on the disable list again. They can’t run to 1st base without pulling a hammy. What could of been something special a few years ago has turned into being the Pirates, Diamond Backs and Cincinnati. You want dose of reality? Google our 40 man roster and look at the infield and outfield , Corlas is even listed it’ll make sick i -
Liam Hendriks coming up in trade discussions
AJ'S Cousin replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think if it nets us a Quality Right Fielder and 2nd Baseman i think it's worth it. I'd hate to see Hendriks go but he's slowed down just a bit. His fastball doesn't move like it used to. we all saw how far the ball goes when it gets hit because of no movement. Lopez and Crochet could possibly step in. Give me Reynolds or Conforto or Nimmo and sign Segura for 2nd base on a 2 year contract and I could live without Hendriks. His value is the Highest it's ev er going to be. -
Hopefully you’re right, if can’t have him, hope he goes to the NL to terrorize the Cubs and Dodgers. I want him out of the AL as soon as possible. Verlander is now a Met, so that weakens Houston also. I’d give Judge 8 years 350 million and shake up the central and burn the Yankees. We all know that won’t happen. JR would never do it.
-
I would do Corlas straight up for Reynolds’s. Reynolds is proven, Corlas is still a prospect I don’t think Corlas is a Tatis Reynolds hitting in our hitter friendly ballpark would be great and HE’S a switch hitter BUT they would want more than just Corlas
-
No way would I trade Montgomery. I’d rather part with a combination of Sheets and others. Maybe Burger and Sheets? Moncada is not going anywhere. I’d love Reynolds’s but as you can see by the shortstop market. In 2 years Anderson is gone. He’ll be 32/33 years old. Montgomery spends 2023 in double or triple A and then is ready to takeover at short with possibly 5 or 6 years of control. Kepler will never be traded to the Sox although inter division trades are happening more often. Just sign Conforto, put Corlas out there and keep Montgomery.
-
PS, Corlas in either right or left, depending who can sign or trade for
-
no way do i trade Vaughn he's to valuable as a defensive replacement in the outfield. LOL LOL LOL, seriously i like Vaughn over Sheets even though Sheets bats lefty. Ideally my dream would be for Moncada to move to second, Burger than at third. Jimenez to full time DH, and go get Bellinger, Mimmo or Conforto
-
I agree, as long as he doesn't turn out to be version of Kuechel. Remember, we also need to 2021 Lynne and Kopech to advance to a numbe 2 or 3. Quintana may flop this year, If Clevenger can be Lynn Light, we'll be ok.
-
a lot of teams would love to have a Clevenger as a 5. better than Valasquez, better than Martin, who can now become Vasquez. don't get me wrong, i'd love to have Cueto also and go with a 6 man rotation but there to cheap to do itand i think there"s a team that will give Cueto a 2 or 3 year deal. At 37, the Sox won't do that. I'm good with Martin taking Vasquez's spot and maybe get rid of Ruiz.
