  1. Yup. This is an unfortunate turn of events. Not necessarily because he wants to be in this, but that he may or may not be looking to cash in on what could be more of a flash in the pan career. If he eschewed the contest, I would be more convinced he himself was convinced in his long term. Now with this, I gotta wonder if he is seeing writings on the wall. Dude, concentrate.
  2. At the same time, this team has shown that getting on base by any means still matters. Even if they don’t hit homers or hit in clutch situations. It isn’t just pitching that got them here. It is also getting on base short of hitting homers
  3. Cespedes is a superior player on defense, and the bar could not be lower as a hitter to upgrade the position. It would be a plus move. But you are probably right. They will likely want him to see a certain number of pitches in the minors just as a proper way to develop him all things being equal.
  4. Its got a dicey history of issues behind it. Would stay away.
  5. https://mobile.twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/1399403833453858820?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1399403833453858820|twgr^|twcon^s1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fsouthsideshowdown.com%2F2021%2F05%2F31%2Fwhite-sox-tony-la-russas-base-stealing-comments-mind-numbing%2F sorry I don’t know how to embed this. LaRussa says he has restricted base stealing because our guys are “Ouchy”
  6. That’s because you haven’t looked at how he is pitching in Charlotte. Forget about that guy.
  7. That should never happen. Dont trade a premium prospect for a rental. Ever. FTJ has taught these people nothing if they do that, which ought to scare the fuck out of us.
  8. Pulling the starter after 82 pitches while he is doing work in a short game sort of means he was predetermined to be pulled right? It isn’t like game managing.
  9. Yoan not dealing with the effects of Covid anymore
  10. I don’t have a specific recollection of him hitting batters, but he showed some maturity not coming unglued after the 1st inning plunk. After his last outing where he clearly lost focus after the ump was tough on him, he is battling and recovering today
  11. Sometimes he turns on a pitch like Bonds. You know, that feast mode
  12. I can tell you I get many business emails about company news things I really don’t care about. But they are mass emailed out to everyone at the company if I understand correctly.
  13. I tend to think he would know something like this. But tbh, it doesn’t seem like something he would think was a good idea either. So I don’t know. Love or hate JR, he’s got a reputation for having a heart for his employees.
  14. Whether or not he gets involved to that level of control, fairly safe bet he knows what is going on just as a curious person about what’s going on at a “Sox park”. Just while he’s sitting in a suite relaxing and talking, you gotta believe somebody wants to be the one to tell him the latest scuttlebut. ‘Hey J, they are renaming that Lorreta concession stand, how about that?’
  15. Assuming they agreed to overpay to get this agreement out of him to sign. But that said, Interesting how it shakes out. If Vaughn stays in LF, and Cespedes plays RF, there is not spot for him on the team. First base? Abreu now, and imo, Eloy will need to to find a position. I suppose they can just stick with the original plan and have Vaughn at first and Eloy in LF, but there is still no spot for Colas. Im sure the Sox will honor his agreement, but this very easily could be a trade waiting to happen with a few very feasible events.
  16. Nothing new here, except that he doesn’t want to pitch. And some bad info to boot. He cannot play CF.
  17. They used to garner bad press for being poorly run as far as the stuff between the lines. But they had an ear for the fanbase somewhat. Stadium build notwithstanding. Now they just routinely garner bad press, and its like they are completely blind to what the Sox fan base is caring about
  18. I used to think this organization was semi-in tune with its fans. It suddenly has gone 100% tone deaf in one season. Quite remarkable.
  19. Eloy Robert and Vaughn will lead the league in gappers and triples down the line
  20. Robert is rangy, but that outfield seems like a tall order even for him to make it work. Cespedes speed and defense should be good enough to get that job imo. The team to build is not based on all pitching and slugging. To go all the way, pitching and defense still have to be present, and pitching needs defense to be effective. Where does that leave Vaughn? I don’t know, the answer may unfold as the team swallows hard and makes some ultimate decisions on which direction to take this. I still think Eloy will be in the outfield for a couple years. Eloy Robert and Cespedes . Vaighn could move around a lot. He seems like he could become one of those utility guys Like Kris Bryant.
  21. I have a feeling Eloy will get his job back. The unwritten rules! But having competition will be good for him. Hopefully he is motivated to lose some weight. Not that he’s fat or anything. But he can be 10 lbs lighter
