  1. Will do. He only had a short stay in the hospital, and should be at Soxfest.
  2. Even more so this year. Just the other day my friend Bob went into the hospital because he was having chest pains. Luckily it was only an infection on the membrane of his heart and after some antibotics he was ok. Sounds like he was pretty scared though. I thought maybe I wasn't going to have my partner out there this year to yell with me. This kinda stuff makes you realize that you never know when you may spend you last day at a ballgame with someone. I know we could probably hang out at other things besides Sox games, but baseball is something we both love, so going to games is a great way to get together. Plus, over the last few seasons since I discovered the magic of message boards, I have met some new friends out at the ballpark.
  3. Same amount and maybe a few more. I usually make about 35 games. I enjoy spending the time with a good friend I share a 27 game package with. It's also nice to get out to some games with my brother, and meet some people for tailgating. I also plan on bringing another big group of family and friends for Elvis night. Last year we had 28 people. Last year I had a lot of good times and saw some great games (some duds too, but you take the good with the bad). I never know which season will be the last one I have on this earth. I am fortunate enough to have the means to go to as many games as I do, I want to enjoy what I have while I have it.
  4. I am part of the steff cult as well. The meetings are fun. We sit around drinking beer and worshipping the "doable" one while waiting for a silver and black comet to come and take us to one of the moons of Uranus where we will cheer on a baseball team that never loses. The cult leader is RPS. You should see him in his robe.

Like the old Reeses commercial, "Two great tastes that taste great together..."?

    I would buy anything chocolate.

You gonna hop in the pool later?
  8. Yeah, I would actually rather get into a cold care and wait for it to warm up than get into one when it is 110 degrees and wait for it to cool. I really can't stand hot weather. I do rememeber when I worked overnight at McCormick place and used to come out to start my Jeep after it sat on the lakefront in sub-zero temps. It had a stick shift, and I couldn't shift the gears because the trans fluid was kinda solidified. I had to wait for it to warm up and liquify the fluid first.

Yeah, a lot of good people losing their jobs. That part really won't affect my mom much since she is basically retired, but I am not sure what that means for her profit sharing/pension. It would really suck to give 26 years to a company and wind up getting nothing after retirement. I am sure there are a lot of others in that same situation there also. Still hard to beleive that someone could mismanage a company so popular and profitable for so long. The sad thing is the guys that made the mess probably got huge payoffs and just went on to other high paying jobs ruining another company.

I could devour a box of chocolate covered cherries in seconds. Those are my favorite.

http://www.suntimes.com/output/business/cst-fin-candy06.html My mom has worked for them for about 26 years. She started there as a part time sales clerk just to make extra cash when I was 10. It helped since my dad was a sheet metal worker and was often laid off back in the late 70's early 80's. The job eventually turned into a career for her and she moved on to store manager and then district manager. She is 70 now and semi-retired. She still works part time again as a sales clerk at one of the stores, and even has my dad working a couple days as a porter to get him out of the house. It was always cool having her work at Fannie May, I still remember my days at Whitney Young High school when she was the manager at the store that is attached to the plant. I would always go over there at lunch time for samples. We always had Fannie May candy around the house, especially during the holidays. It amazes me that the company is struggling considering how popular the product has always been. When I would stop in and visit her at whatever store she worked in, it seemed they were always busy. I am going to miss having Fannie May candy around. It has kind of always been part of my life, and I have a major sweet-tooth.
  12. These are the days I love my attached garage. No need to even have a coat on in the car since it is already warm when I get in. Then I just pull into the underground garage at work and walk a few feet to the door. I don't miss the days back in high school when I had to wait outside for a bus.
  13. No, that's what a visit to the proctologist is.
  14. Get drunk before the appointment.

I'm drinking iced tea while watching it snow. I love the cold. I wish it never got above 70 degrees here. Gonna be fun to finally fire up the big 5 HP snowblower today and shoot some snow around. I already took down the christmas tree and hacked it into firewood. Later I will build a big fire with it and watch the snow some more while I sit around in my underwear. Fall and winter are the best seasons of all.

  17. Another bargaining chip for the Sox. Sounds like they are the only ones that can take their chips off the table and walk away right now.
  18. Looks like there is an empty seat on the short bus today.

I still have one of these. I dug it out of my parents basement. This was high-tech back in the early 70's.

Now all the old timers can talk about how in their day things used to cost only a nickel and that they paid for them with the old nickels.

There is no way Jesus was married. A married guy would never get away with going out for dinner and drinks on a Thursday with 12 other guys and not showing up again until Sunday.

Get her a plasma TV and satellite dish. Add on all the sports packages and it is the gift that keeps on giving year round.
  24. Amen to that. 20 million could fill a lot of holes. I think Boston is stuck with him.
