QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Seriously, stop seriously. Why call for a pinch hitter there? Teahen had as good a chance as anybody to get a bloop hit. If Rios does anything at all, everybody's happy. He failed as usual.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) So why the hell did Teahen get to face a LHP Why not? Who did yu want to pinch hit? The pinch hitter would have made an out as well. This team as you know, cannot hit. Righty Rios really had a lot of success in his at bat.
-
Nice at bat, Teahen. Terrible terrible baseball by the White Sox. Hopefully Sergio can be Sergio and we win in spite of ourselves.
-
If u are gonna bunt, put it in play, Mark.
-
LOL at Rios. It's easier to watch this team when u have low low expecatations.
-
Cleveland plays us like we play most Central teams. They have the look of a loser.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:37 PM) lol Players have bad years, no way are you spending time teaching him to bunt. His bad year seems like a bad decade.
-
Dunn prolly should be fined for not running that out. Usually runners loaf on weak grounders, but the second baseman was in right field. You gotta run those out.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) Put Dunn 8th and have him bunt a lot to try to move runners. If he can't get the bunt down, so what? He'd most likely whiff anyway. I'd go for that. Just have him bunt every minute of BP and try to excel at that. He's done as a hitter obviously.
-
Dunn is so bad there are no words to describe him.
-
Cleveland looks like a little league team. Adam loafing now? Not good. Another 0h-fer.
-
That's why I didn't want Ohman. I want Sale.
-
Teahen finally gets a hit. Good. Gets thrown out. Bad. Cleveland is playing s***ty. Put them away.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 07:57 PM) A walk and a single? BTW your herpes thing is kind of funny. I was awakened last night or early this morning by my neighbor's girlfriend screaming at him telling him he gave her herpes. Seriously? She can sue.
-
Ohman coming in? We'll lose this game.
-
Sox get a 2 run gift and play like this the following inning. Bye bye Edwin. We won't miss you.
-
Edwin needs to trust his stuff. Work faster Edwin.
-
Do teams try to deal with KW cause they know he'll overpay?
-
At least Dunn hit it high in the air so it got lost in the sun. Another fail by Dunn but it worked out.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) Edwin Jackson for Rasmus maybe. Get Rasmus and that means Rios and or Pierre are gone. We still need the spot for Viciedo, if they keep him in the OF that is. Maybe he goes to third anyway? Jackson for Rasmus would be fine. Sox will probably overpay.

Sox "uncharacteristically quiet" on trade front

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 06:43 AM) I seriously hope we don't trade Q just to clear a spot for Dayan. That is the worst thing they could do. Amen. That's what I was trying to say. Stupid reasoning to make that deal. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:54 AM) It provides salary relief now and in the future, plus whatever Sox get in return for CQ. Is it a 100 percent given we are trading CQ? If we trade him we might as well go the whole way and bust it up completely. It's hilarious for "salary relief" we have to trade our second best hitter because of ridiculous contracts to Peavy, Rios and Dunn. LOL. And Kenny has a job? -
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 05:53 PM) Does Rios's contract allow him to be sent down the minors? If so, I would do it. I know he's making a ton of money but you have to pay him anyway. Why not pay him to play in the minors, and I mean A ball, not Charlotte. At least that way he isn't killing the big league club and maybe, just maybe, but doubtful, he'll get a dose of reality and realize how good he has it at the ML level and get some focus. I seem to remember a team within the past couple years doing that to a player. It may have been a pitcher. Right now they are paying him to hurt the Sox, pay him to hurt Bristol. Like someone mentioned in another thread, Rios is worse than Brian Anderson was. If the Sox are going to let contarct size dictate who plays, then they deserve the 4th place finish they are heading toward. If Detriot can DFA a long time favorite like Inge, the Sox can DFA a bum like Rios. Inge was making good money, not Rios money, but 5.5 mill is still pretty good. I enjoyed your post, Chet. Sending him to A ball made me smile on another 110 degree day in KC area. I like your venom. Finally somebody hates Alex more than I do.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:06 AM) i hope one of these days you realize that the reality of the situation prevents what you think should happen. there are some hard constrictions that the sox have, and they are rios and dunn. and they arent going anywhere. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:32 AM) That the reality like it or not. Pierre is in LF rest of 2011, CQ is odd man out. I can't believe you guys can't see how ridiculous it is to trade CQ and merely put Dayan there. What does that accomplish? They are the same player potentially? So we add some reliever for CQ? Or a couple minor leaguers? Stupid. Trading one of two productive players in the whole lineup is a smart trade? Dumb as hell. The only way I'd trade him is for a can't miss third baseman. BTW read tonight's Chicago Tribune Gonzalez rainout article. Doesn't sound like changes are imminent. www.chicagotribune.com CLEVELAND — With the July 31 non-waiver trading deadline one week away, manager Ozzie Guillen doesn’t see the need to acquire a player as long as the White Sox show improvement. “A lot of people say we need this or that,” Guillen said before Saturday night’s rainout in Cleveland. “You know what we need? Our guys to play right and play (well). That’s my opinion. “If they start playing (well), I don’t think we need anybody else. If we are not playing good, then (general manager) Kenny Williams could go a different way. If we don’t play good for the next couple of weeks, they could go in a different direction.” Guillen said he hasn’t spoken recently to Williams, who didn’t accompany the Sox on their three-city trip that ends Sunday. “I think he believes the way I believe, that we have a better ballclub than the way we’re playing,” Guillen said. “I still believe we have a better ballclub. We’re just not playing the way we think.” The Sox have survived without a true long reliever since Jake Peavy threw four innings in an emergency appearance June 25. But Brian Bruney said he’s capable of throwing more than one inning if needed. “You start throwing guys two or three innings at a time consistently, guys get fatigued,” Bruney said. “So in my opinion, it’s always better to give a guy an inning but keep him fresh. You give them more work, but you keep them sharp with maybe an inning or 1 1/3 innings rather than stretching guys out. “But I feel comfortable with whatever they ask me because if I need to come in like I did when (John) Danks went down and throw (a career-high) 2 1/3 innings. I felt stronger every inning, I don’t mind doing it.” -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) EJ and CQ are playing there last full weekend in a Sox Uni. Trading CQ just to open a spot for Dayan is f***ing stupid. We could only hope Dayan is as productive as CQ. Right now, CQ is productive. You want to add Dayan's bat and take out a lousy bat like dunn or Rios.
