  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:34 AM) Alex Rios is going to walk this off in the 9th And my middle name is Guillen. Not a chance.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:30 AM) probably 1/2 of his contract has been paid by insurance since we acquired him, fwiw. How do you know this? If that is true, that's a helluva insurance policy. The guy has been able to pitch some, albeit in mediocre fashion.
  3. Some great posts on this thread. 1.) It's all about pitching and defense and our pitching has been great and defense not bad at all. That has kept us in about every game since April/early May. That leaves the hitting and our pitchers should be sooo pissed off. Yes I think it's focus and desire. I do. Last night we hit the f***ing ball. Personally I thought we played 'harder' than other games. I sensed a playoff type atmosphere. Of course that all might be a bunch of b.s. coming from me. Usually when yu hit the ball it appears you are playing "harder." I might be off base, but I think our pitchers have competed very well; hitters been bums.
  4. QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 05:14 AM) Of course I'm in. But that doesn't mean I want to see Kenny trade away more prospects for veterans and not pull the trigger on a Quentin for young pitcher trade. If you mean a minor league pitcher, I think you are losing it. An unknown for Quentin? What young pitcher?
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 05:58 AM) There is not a lot of logic to be found in many of the trade ideas because a lot of guys cream their jeans every July hoping kw will treat this team like they do their fantasy teams. They'd love to stay in a constant state of turnover acquiring prospects, the perpetual youth movement. I agree with that as well. I mean this team is full of a lot of loads of dung and for the life of me I can't understand why somebody would want to deal our second best hitter. And Rasmus has Rios written all over him. I don't care if he was a first-round pick. Jackson for Rasmus. Yes. Matt for Rasmus yes. No more than that.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 04:56 AM) We are not trading Sale. Good. My only untouchables would be Sale, Quentin, Paulie, Lexi, Mark, Danks and Floyd. Anybody else, including Beckham can be dealt IMO, although I'm not crazy about giving up on Beckham. I also wouldn't want to see Sergio leave.
  7. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 05:32 AM) Which question do you want me to answer: "Are you a White Sox fan?" or "Do you think we'll win the division?" Can't do both, which is what this always tries to do. Great point.
  8. QUOTE (Paulie4Pres @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 04:52 AM) So dump the guy that might actually be worth what he's paid next season...and keep all the overpaid, underachieving, or perpetually injured jackasses. Makes sense. Amen, brother. I agree with everything you write on CQ. One of the only decent hitters on the team and we deal him. Real smart. Your words are truly wise. Keep writing 'em.
  9. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 03:23 AM) Nice win. I posted this a few days ago. I think the Yanks take Rios and Sale (or Thorton) for Gardner. Something is up with the LHP scenario. Maybe there is something wrong with Thorton. He pitched well Friday. I certainly hope they go for Rios and Thornton. I'd hate to trade Sale in that scenario.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 03:46 AM) I don't really get these threads. I'll be watching every game possible and hoping we win. I also think we're the most talented team in the division. But, I really don't have faith (or think) that this general manager, manager, and group of players will be able to stay out of their own way enough to win this division. Where does that put me? It puts you in the same category as me. I'll also watch and hope we win. I also think we're the best team on paper. Can we win it? Who the f*** knows? I also very much agree with your second to last sentence. It don't make us bad fans to not trust these guys. Tonight finally was a win I'd call 'exciting.' There haven't been many of those.
  11. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 03:34 AM) If I were Sergio, all that would do is say Ozzie doesn't trust me enough to even attempt the save. 1.) It's about winning. It's his first year as a closer. It's worked perfectly. Sergio should be happy. He was nasty tonight. Sale was great too. Who cares that he doesn't get a save? Great last post on CQ. If the Sox trade him, it would make zero sense. Zero. Be creative with trades. Don't deal your second best hitter on a team DYING for offense. Plus he's still young like you said.
  12. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 04:21 AM) Does Ozzie not believe in saves anymore? Hope you are kidding. Who cares? What he did worked again.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 04:14 AM) WE ARE GOOD AT BASEBALL AGAIN Tonight very good.
  14. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 04:13 AM) not if youre rebuilding As much as I gave up on the team, we're only a few games out. He's one of two good hitters on this team. Trading him would be absurd. Substituting Tank for CQ in right would be dumb. Like we've said before we need to add Tank to a lineup that has CQ in it, not just replace one for another.
  15. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 04:12 AM) I'm taking a step back to appreciate Sergio Santos. It'd be nice to see Dunn hit two home runs vs. Verlander. Somebody's gonna have to step up tomorrow.
  16. Great win. It would be absolutely insane to trade Quentin BTW. Insane.
  17. I wish the Sox would 'compete' like this every night. Seems like playoff intensity tonight.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 04:05 AM) You dont tell Ozzie stats about lefty/righty A lot of people were in favor of Matt being our closer this year. There would have been so many lefty/righty situations had that been the case.
  19. Sale did the job again. Cmon Sergio. No drama.
  20. Hope Juan's s***ty play doesn't fire up the Tigers? We need an easy ninth and wrap this one up. Detroit and Cleveland are not teams to fear. Just win baby.
  21. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 04:00 AM) Great now Oz will use that as an excuse to put Morel on the bench Not after the way Teahen responded to getting the job. It's Brent's turn. Why are you guys on Oz. Wasn't Morel sucking big time when he went to Mark? I hate Mark, but Morel was sucking majorly when he went to Mark.
  22. Morel is 3-4. Can't beat that after the lousy games from Teahen at the plate recently.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 03:53 AM) No Matt Thornton for the second night in a row for the eighth inning. Interesting. Is this Ozzie managing by gut? Sale's been pretty good. I know Oz haters think he can't manage at all, but is this him using a gut feeling he's acquired in 30 years in baseball?
  24. This is like watching the White Sox of old. Most enjoyable game in a long time. One more inning!
  25. s***, can Sale be 'on' two games in a row? Cmon Sale! We need u.
