  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) "Worst team in baseball at tinkering" "Refusal to tweak the team". -Phrases that should never be attached to Kenny Williams. I mean during the season I guess. Manny is not a significant addition. Why not tweak before it's too late? This lineup is anemic and time is running short. Free Dayan at least.
  2. Seriously, are the Sox the worst team in baseball at tinkering? They add Manny last year? Great move, Sox. He was washed up. Why the refusal to tweak the team? Seriously, what are they afraid of in bringing up Dayan? How dumb a decision to move him off third if they were committed to Juan in left and CQ in right? The master plan was another full year of Dayan in the minors? I guess that's the master plan. Let him come up in September? Problem is, we figure to be out of it in September, unless the Tigers and Indians and Twins continue plodding along as well. With our inability to win more than four in a row, it's really going to be difficult to win this division. Two more bats would help a LOT. Dayan is one of them. But we won't bring him up. I think we are the worst team in baseball at tinkering with the opening day roster thru the course of the season. (I'm sure you've all noticed but the ONLY reason the Twins are in it at all, is their performance vs Sox n KC. Three of four more vs. KC this past weekend coupled with their mastery of the Sox.
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) See ya, Oz. We're better without you anyway. Yeah we're better off without the only guy to win a WS in Chicago since the dark ages. We're better off with a guy Florida would do anything to get. He'll have the last laugh as in about 30 years he'll probably still be the only manager to win a WS in Chicago since the dark ages. p.s. It's Ozzie's fault that Dunn is a joke; Rios is a joke; Peavy is an albatross and the team couldn't get a clutch hit if the ball was put on a tee. All you guys that think he's a buffoon because of certain pitching changes, bunting, not bunting, etc., will have the same complaints when we lose a game with our next manager. It's the nature of the game. blame the manager. And I agree with Wolf. KW better follow Ozzie to the curb when Oz takes the Florida job for next season. And I'm not an Ozzie apologist. The right thing to do would have been to fire Ozzie in May after that horrific start. That start was inexcusable with our payroll. I still think he's a great manager, but he should have been fired then to kick-start his Florida career.
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) Another bad loss and Sox wonder why they are under .500 the excuses get old fast! Once again, we start another series feeling rotten. If KC wins all 3 ... housecleaning finally?
  5. It's pretty obvious he will be their next manager. They want him and our fans want to run him out of town. Easy to figure. He'll be very popular in Florida. And we will begin the 3-4 year cycle of managers again. Who will be the first guinea pig to take the Sox job?
  6. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) Teahen needs to be DFA's...Morel needs more work on his hitting, but the Sox have moved Viciedo off third base...he's not coming back there. Dayan will be DH, LF, or RF for the White Sox this year-if at all. Third base is just a dead position for us right now and I see no quick fixes. Unless you want to move Gordo back there and Lillibridge to 2nd. Even that idea isn't so great. Maybe we could just play without a third baseman. I understand. But with Pierre hitting .270 and going nowhere, I'd just stick Viciedo at third right now. Of course if he commits 2 errors a game that would offset anything he'd do with the bat. We're f***ed unless they trade Juan.
  7. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) For a team that was supposed to be all in - why not Beltre? He was available. You can't be all in and still have major, glaring weaknesses Sox obviously are banking on getting hot and proving this roster is the right roster. Or else they'd have made some changes at the break. Bringing up Dayan is a no brainer still. 2 of 3 vs. Detroit isn't bad. Let's see if they keep it up or suck in KC.
  8. I assume the KC series is a 3-game series. If the Sox continue being the Sox, they'll win one max and be 3-3 on the road trip. Meanwhile, Minnie dusts off KC 3 of 4 again this week/weekend.
  9. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) That Wouldn't be good Why? Teahen is a joke. Morel can't hit.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) This team needs to acquire another bat at the trade deadline for sure. Just put Viciedo at f***ing third base if you aren't going to replace Juan.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 08:55 PM) Leyland won Detroit this game by putting runners in motion with Cabrera up and a full count. Really bad job by Ozzie of not taking advantage of the Valverde/VMart battery. Time to go win 2 of 3 against KC. That's one or 2 plays in a 9 inning game. Sox hitters choked. Lexi choked. Sox are flawed.
  12. Sox lead 3-0 against a lousy pitcher and strand runner after runner. Detroit stole one there. A sweep might have got the Tigers thinking they're ready for their collapse. But we don't sweep teams. We just don't.
  13. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) Why do we think Dayan is the savoiur? The Sox brass obviously thought Teahen was the savior. He's the only change.
  14. Is that back to 3 under .500? Now we face KC's awful starting pitching in the sweltering heat. Should be interesting.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) Why even bother caring about this team when they're just so erratic and inconsistent? It feels like we're trapped in the 2009 season again, except that year we at least tied for first place at one point. Not bringing up Dayan for this slumbering offense is enough where we shouldn't care anymore, but we still do.
  16. Lousy loss. Choke job, really, but I didn't expect to sweep. No way. Will we return to the sleepwalking Sox in KC? Or beat a miserable KC team finally?
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) If they can't do things like finish off a sweep after being spotted 3 runs, then they don't deserve the division. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) You take 2 out of 3, but how many times the past few years have the Sox failed to sweep after winning the first 2 of 3? It seems is almost an automatic loss. Becks can't bunt. What a joke. I'm just saying I can't imagine a scenario in which we win all 3 in Detroit. Not this year. I do agree with you guys, but the key to our season has been the home disasters.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) At this point...we don't have time for tough losses any more. We've given up too many games to fail to win these when we have a chance. I agree, but I don't think we can expect this team to magically sweep Detroit in Detroit. We've blown way too many home games.
  19. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) Sox batters simply confused by that relief pitcher, then he started busting fastballs, it was like they were sitting on off speed. If we can't come back, will be a tough loss...Sox looked like they had momentum and this game saps it. Adam Dunn at this point doesn't even look like a major leaguer. It's sad to watch, but at least he's getting a lot of money. It's a tough loss but we can't expect to beat Detroit all 3 on the road.
  20. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) With those three guys it's obvious there is no room for Dayan I've given up hoping/dreaming for him. It's obvious our only change the second half is playing Teahen more.
  21. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. This shows how tough it's going to be to catch these teams, though. Detroit beating us 1 of 3 is fine for them. Should be interesting to see how we bounce back after bad baseball today. KC is still pretty s***ty, very s***ty actually.
  22. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 07:15 PM) So if we lose today Im sure we will be told Ozzie doesnt care if he is fired What's the beef with Oz today? He can't get clutch hits for these guys.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) Humber's mechanics were off in that inning. You could see he was falling off pretty hard to his left, and every pitch was sailing to his left. I saw him falling off in the second or third inning. I think he may need a little fine tuning for the second half to continue this magical season. Though it sounds like the defense f***ed him. I didn't see it.
