White Sox vs Cubs First Pitch 1:20 CT
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 08:13 PM) You do realize Pierre is up next. Yes, my point was it was a semiintentional walk. He would have whiffed swinging at those balls.

What is Dunn doing? This is a semiintentional walk. Take the walk!

I'm convinced Oz should be canned for the bunting thing now because our offense can't hit singles with runners in scoring position.

Good thing we sent the runner. No DP. They'll walk Dunn. But what's a manager to do?

White Sox vs Cubs First Pitch 1:20 CT
Oz should be axed after this game for the bunt attempt. Our offense needs to start pounding home runs.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 08:05 PM) He was taken off third base because he can't play it. He is actually decent in the OF. Left field is occupied. Finally a home run!

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 08:01 PM) Sorry, this game is all on our main guys (Quentin, Konerko, Ramirez) Yes but every game it's the same. Very close boring games because of our offense.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) Good to know Greg Walker has the batting coach job for the next 10 years. I don't think it ultimately matters much, but it is time for a new hitting coach era on the south side.

I know it's beating a dead horse, but to not bring Dayan up for this series ... somebody has to be fired.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) You're not wrong. I have a terrible felling about this series. I hoping for a win on Sunday. It's gonna be party time for the Cubbies' fans this weekend.

White Sox vs Cubs First Pitch 1:20 CT
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) But where would he play? There isn't a single guy I could think of that deserves to be benched, DFA'd, or traded away. Unfortunatley we took him off third base. So he has to play left. That's the only place to put him. We also could have NOT acquired Dunn and let Dayan DH. But we had to have Adam. I'm just starting to watch the game. I assume he's hitless or not playing.

What's with CQ and the weak DP grounders? Hit the ball over the f***ing fence. Lift and pull it out of the park.

To not call Dayan up for this series in Wrigley is so sad. Give the kid a chance to blast 5 home runs in 3 games and uh, maybe lead this offense to victory.

We can't even hit Randy Wells. I'm speechless.

Ozzie or Kenny?
I wish I knew what I said when we signed him. No way I'm goin thru 50 pages of responses to find my remark. I think I gave it a thumbs up.

THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 05:48 AM) That's a direct reflection of the manager. I don't know about that. Ozzie is as intense as they come. He brings it daily.

THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 03:18 AM) He had a hit today, a walk, and hit a few other balls hard. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 03:24 AM) 0 for his last 11? He had a walk and a base hit today. EDIT: Oops, someone beat me to that. For some reason I thought he was benched today.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 02:58 AM) Both Peavy and Pierre stated that the team came out with no energy today. That's pretty frustrating to hear when you have your entire bench playing, as they should be your energizers. That is frustrating. Maybe it's the Rockies. That is a pretty dull team except for Tulo. But what's wrong with the Sox? You'd think they'd want to win the third game and thus, the series 2-1.

Realistic Adam Dunn expectations
QUOTE (DOWNTOWN PANTHER @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) Dont take my word for it. Check in with me at about midseason and let me know then. You guys dont have to shoot the messanger here. Alos, for the person comparing Adam Dunn to Reggie Jackson. Relax!! Wow. Downtown Panther was right. He said Dunn would be a waste and voila, a waste. Dunn is hitting .333 as a pinch hitter! His new role. I've discovered it. Over his last 29 at bats in 8 games, he has two hits, both in the same game. He has 16 strikeouts in the 29 at bats. two walks. However, prior to that he was 5 for 17 over six games with two homers and six ribbies. That was an encouraging six-game stretch before this current misery.

THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 12:27 AM) Rios does not deserve to get benched. He's hitting the ball hard right now and whether he is loafing it or not, he is one of our two best defensive OF's. Viciedo would certainly make a difference in this lineup, but unfortunately, Ozzie is not going to give up Pierre or Omar, so if he does come up, it's going to be at the expense of Teahen or Brent, both of whom deserve a legitimate role on this team because of their versatility. Nice to see Pierre and Beckham do so well. I refused to watch the game because of that godawful (on paper) lineup Oz threw together today. Though I did get back to a TV in time to watch Juan's blast off the fence. I was a little worried when Beckham almost got thrown out at the plate since that bomb kicked off the scoreboard perfectly to the right fielder. Great pitching again aside from the one bad inning. As far as Rios ... he is who he is. He's 0 for his last 11 after his hot streak in which he was 12 for 28 over seven games. is he hot or not? O for 11 is not good. 12 for 28 is good. His on base percentage for the season is .269; .593 OPS
