  1. You guys act like this is a desirable job. With no prospects coming up and an aging team with no bullpen, we got problems for any manager. Cito might be smart. A guy with no other options. A have a sneaky feeling we'll just name Cora.
  2. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) I'm not convinced Oz won't be here next year and I'm not convinced that the Sox won't be crowned AL central champions this year. BUT... If he does end up leaving, I'd bet the farm that his replacement here would either be Sandy Alomar Jr. or Dave Martinez. Can they handle the heat though, if the team is beginning a downward spiral? Everybody on here seems to agree there are very few prospects in the minors.
  3. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) Something like this wouldn't happen until the off-season. Sox are one good losing streak away from being 10 under and getting Ozzie fired now. Especially with the Marlins wanting him. Things can go downhill in a hurry. Thing is, KW deserves the axe just as much.
  4. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) Why Pierre and teahen??? ::shaking head:: Pierre is an everyday player whether fans like it or not. He'll be an everyday player the rest of the season and maybe next season with the Marlins.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) As much as Hawk is correct, I believe he also said last night that the Sox are the only team capable of taking a strangle-hold of the division if they ever get to the top, which is completely idiotic. Yeah he's wrong. A lot of people think the White Sox who are nearing the end of June, are magically going to become a great team.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 04:26 PM) Pierre LF, Vizquel 2B, Ramirez SS, Konerko 1B, Dunn RF, Rios CF, Pierzynski C, Teahen 3B, Humber P Dunn and Teahen means bad defense and equals a loss. Unless Dunn finally has a multi home run game to make up for the runs we'll be giving up today.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 06:12 PM) It's in the catch-all but this deserved it's own thread. It didn't work out last time but maybe we can now work out a deal with them. If not now, then during the offseason. Let's all hope together. We're not going to get anything for Ozzie. He'll go there on his own with the blessing of management. He may even get fired this year as a favor to Ozzie to get started with his new team. And he'll do great there. You all (not all, but most) will b**** about the next manager because that's what fans do, b**** about the manager/coach. Sox need to start thinking who will be the right fit. I'd say we will be in rebuilding mode, so it will be a guy like Quade who will have to take it on the chin for a while and be the scapegoat. So who will be the next manager? It'd be easy to just name Bell or Cora. The future looks s***ty for the White Sox so you all will have a lot to b**** about Ozzie's replacement.
  8. Rios with a home run and 2 hits. Nice Danks. Relievers. Paulie is amazing. It's not that hard, boys. Keep winning.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 04:20 AM) NO doubt about it in my mind. Pay attention to who posts when we lose, and who posts when we win. Oh cmon, most of us who seem like jerks when we blast the White Sox want the team to win. I didn't cry when we won the WS, but a lot of people I know did. I was freaking happy and thrilled the entire offseason. If Rios turns into an all star I'll be happy. And I despise Rios at this date.
  10. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) The question that baffles me still a year later is why trade him for another starting pitcher when offense was much more of the problem. It was a ridiculous trade. He should lose his job over that trade. Bad bad trade.
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) Heck no. Just like with everything else, you need to deal with it. If there are problems you need to ask and find out what needs to be done and do it. I teach the kids and my students that there is no reason not to ask. If you don't ask, then it is your own fault. You sound like a great teacher and dad. But what do u do when the parents come calling when Johnny or Jane got a B? I know a guy who taught one course at the college here and he was a tough grader and got flooded with calls from parents! At the university level. It was like, 'my daughter has all As and you gave her a B!'
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 09:52 AM) This is going to sound REALLY cold. But Jerry is 75. He's not going to be around, whether it be baseball or life in general, much longer (no, I don't want him to die). A new era of White Sox baseball is coming. I'm looking forward to it. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) Severity of the situation? You can't be serious but it seems like you are. It's a game 1.) Ugg. The Jerry post was not good. I thought that was what he told you to take to ESPN not the entire thread. Bad post. Lay off Jerry being old. I mean my god let's hope we all live to 95 if we are healthy. 2.) It is just a game. I need to try to remember that. This team embodies things I hate and I have to get over it. I hate teams that never have comeback victories, allow a lot of walkoffs and/or comebacks themselves and get shut out a ton. Problem is I'm a Sox fan so it's tough to turn off the TV/internet.
  13. I hate posts like this. It cheapens our title. Every team that wins a title gets lucky. Even teams like the White Sox that don't lose one f***ing game in the World Series. I wish people would shut up about 2005 on both sides of the argument. We had a great team and won it all. We should enjoy it cause we probably won't win another in the next 20 years. Chicago teams just do not win baseball titles. We won and it shouldn't be cheapened.
  14. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) I don't have any faith in Ozzie or Kenny. None. I still of course hope this pathetic team can play up to their potential. Sorry to be a downer, but Ozzie's comments about JP last night really get me fired up. We went all of last year b****ing about Mark Kotsay, and the irony is all of this year we get the same thing but in the name of Juan Pierre. f*** you Ozzie! That said, it would be nice to get a W tonight QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) I still hold out hope for Beckham but I wish they could send him to AAA for the year and let him work some s*** out. 1.) That first post was kind of funny. You are a true Sox fan. We b**** and b**** and then you end it with, 'That said it would be nice to get a W tonight.' The true fans like you can moan, but ultimately we want the W. 2. Lilly can't play every position. We have a lot of guys that should be sent down for Lilly to replace: Gordon, Rios, Juan, Morel as well as worthless Adam Dunn.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 08:41 AM) Offensively, he's been every bit as bad as Pierre. Major disappointment is an understatement. When he's going good, which has been a rare occurrence, he just seems like a star in the making. Line drives, great looking hitter. But my god he looks bad a lot. Beckham waving at pitches is a sorry sight.
  16. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 06:07 AM) Other find it easy to blame Kenny. Everyone knows the book on Rios, so he gambled. As for Beckham, he might have benefited with more time in the minors. He may have been brought up too soon because of the failed Josh Field experiment. You have to wonder if having Sale in the pen is more harmful to his career than spending some time in the minors. Rios really truly showed KW's weaknesses. Do we not have scouts who watch players loaf?? Do we not care about players' attitudes. People mock some of our past cfs for being "grinders" but f***, Rios is a joke. KW should be able to find out that the guy has a penchant for loafing, for stealing paychecks. It's all on KW. This Beckham slump is really mystifying and sad. He should be better than this.
  17. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:37 AM) I don't believe any of those stats in the thread title. I feel AJ fails about 80% of the time. It sure seems that way. His DPs are very very annoying. When I think of the Sox offense I think of AJ's crappy DP grounders to second; Rios' pathetic pop ups and grounders where he loafs running to first and of course, Dunn whiffing. Also, Pierre's lousy grounders where he hustles and is always ... barely out. And Gordon's cluelessness where he swings at everything and whiffs at a pitch you are thinking, 'How could ANYBODY think it was a good idea to swing at that??'''
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:24 AM) I hate to say it. But if we were going to lose, this is what I would've preferred. A 10-8 slugfest wouldn't have sufficed. This was sweet poetic justice and caps what was an embarrassingly, short-sighted, joke of a trade. Edwin was alright. He was pretty much routine: start slow, look good for a few innings, then ultimately have to leave the game because his command is always horses***. 112 pitches in 6 1/3 IP. That's too much. It's like when Iverson would need 30 shots to get 30 points. How often does Edwin get up on a guy 0-2 then ultimately have to throw 4-6 more pitches just to finish him off? He's so maddening. As for the offense, other than PK, wow. July is right around the corner and we have SIX, yes, SIX blackholes in the everyday lineup. Teams like Boston and Tampa started out really slow, especially offensively. You see how they've recovered. This is just a really bad organization right now. And the future looks as bleak as it has, for me at least, since 1995. Two comments. The first is simple. The Sox are not a good team. This is not even a .500 team. .500 is its upside. 2.). You just could tell by his demeanor that Hudson knew he had the stuff to do what he did tonight to his old team. He did violate KW and the White Sox. It was sooo easy for Hudson. Even at the plate, Hudson was a threat, much more a threat than that piece of s*** Rios at the plate. I was just waiting for Hudson to thrust his head back and give a good belly laugh after mowing down the Sox. The Sox were totally overmatched vs. Hudson. Good trade, KW.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:32 AM) Not since 2008 and that mid-season streak last year. Just not in their DNA. You have to set the tone with that earlier in the season. Unfortunately, our tone setting was offensive malaise and a collapsing bullpen punctuated with inconsistent defense and a dizzyingly consistent lack of fundamentals execution. That is a good post. I agree you set the trend early. You also sell tickets for the summer by playing well in April/May. The Sox just sucked and the casual fan lost total interest in this s*** team.
  20. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:22 AM) Heck. Not even disappointed. Didn't expect the Sox were winning tonight anyway. I'm not disappoitned, except in myself for not turning it off. I'm like you. I expect to lose.
  21. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:53 AM) I'd just like to be Mr. Obvious and point out that much of this game so far is not really Edwin Jackson's fault. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:01 AM) As one of KW's biggest supporters and defenders over the years here (I don't think I ever even posted a negative thought regarding him), I'd like to say a big "f*** YOU Kenny!" We're watching this impotent offense night after night while stiffs like Pierre and Rios are trotted out there night after night and KW can't even bring Viciedo up from Charlotte because our moronic asshole of a manager can't figure out where to play him! They can't give Viciedo a chance yet Beckham can continue to stink the place up with his ridiculous swing and Rios can stink the place up with his ridiculous batting stance while Greg Walker is given another vote of confidence. And Juan Pierre can suck on offense, suck on defense, and suck on the basepaths yet lead off every game night after night. f*** JR, KW, Ozzie and the rest. I'll laugh at them when the Cubs sweep the Sox at the Cell in front of nightly crowds of 25,000 next week. Will they actually fill the Cell for the Cub games? I can't imagine paying to see this s***. Hudson looked like a bulldog. The game meant something to him and he came through. Our guys are a bunch of zombies. They are back in the toilet. Way to show some pride and hit Hudson. Please please blow it up. Or at least fire Ozzie/KW and see if they can get it going on a 9-1 8-2 stretch. If they can't then trade EVERYBODY. Do something Jerry. This team blows. I hope they don't sell out the Cell for the Cubs. Ridiculous. Our fans are too good to only care about beating the Cubs. They know this Sox product blows.
  22. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:50 AM) So what happens next year.. does Sale make a direct jump into the starting rotation? He prolly should be sent down now and become a starter. This is not a serious contending team. He's been a fail. Send him down before he's ruined. Make him a starter.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:48 AM) It's amazing that there are people that still, to this day, think that Ozzie is a good in game manager. I'm one of 'em, but I still think he should be fired. Underachieving team. Can him.
  24. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:44 AM) Hey, we only need 2 more solo homers to tie this thing up. I was gonna say, good pitchers like Hudson give up solo home runs. Solo home runs simply don't matter.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:44 AM) Well, it's the storybook "Lifetime movie of the week" ending for Daniel Hudson. Kudos to him for showing up and backing his talk. Now it's time for somebody to say Jackson was great and three runs should be enough to win. Yeah we always tip our cap to the opposing pitcher and don't expect ptatc type excellence from our own. Another embarrassing loss. Bust.It.Up. Fire Ozzie and KW soon please.
