QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 04:25 AM) The Sox have shaved 5.0 games off the 1st place lead in 4 weeks, they are 7-3 in their last 10 games at home, the offense is solid, the bullpen is steady and every thread, article, interview and call into a post-game show is ADAM DUNN and ALEX RIOS. Cmon, shaved games off the lead?? The team has a season high win streak of four games. The team has been OK of late. We're all big boys/girls and this team has done very little to crow about. If Dunn and Rios were earning half their paychecks we might be 10 over .500 and if we were 10 over .500 we'd all be happy. And yes, thank goodness for Paulie and Sergio.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 04:39 AM) Gee, it's not like anyone has been saying the Indians were going to have a stretch like this... Still eight back in the loss column, which is only picking up four games in that total in this whole stretch. Still anemic against teams in our division. I love the Sox always and am hopeful, but team still gets a D for the season performance thus far. Lot of problems on this team. Like you said the worst problem inability to get up for an beat teams in the Central, shaky bullpen aside from Sergio and awful production from the highest pad players. GO SOX!

All lefties, including Dunn, should copy the stance/stroke of KC's Hosmer. Wow, the rookie can hit the ball. He has perfect form.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) I'm always amazed at why guys don't try to emulate other players who have "figured it out". If you were Rios, and you saw how Konerko's great mechanics help him to be such a good hitter, and then you witnessed Lillybridge turning his career around with a few positive changes in his mechanics, wouldn't you think about trying to tinker a little with your own approach? Every time I watch Rios hit, or should I say "not hit", I wonder why he doesn't try to get his hands up, where they belong, and place his feet in a good athletic stance. Rios probably has a lot more athletic ability than Konerko, but his approach to hitting is just awful. If I were the hitting coach, I'd tell him to try something new, because whatever he's doing now isn't working. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) You're probably correct. I don't remember how he used to bat. In any case, It looks like a terrible way to hit. He better change something, because whatever he's doing, isn't working. I agree that by the simple eye test, it does look like a terrible way to hit. What would be the harm in tinkering?

The Good Sox showed up tonight. Great starting pitching, Sergio automatic, AJ with the nice flashy throw and nice tag at second. Beckham with the nice RBi hit. Paulie with the dinger. Lilly with the catch. Crisp nice victory. The type of game that makes you wonder why this team isn't 10 over .500. We all know the Bad Sox, however. No need to remind of them on a happy night ... a W night.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 03:51 AM) Pierre has 11 more total bases than Rios on the season and 100 better ops. Pierre has a fielding pct of .960 in left field. Rios has a fielding pct of .994 in center field. I dont even have to go to advanced statistics, because anyone who has watched games this season has seen the Sox lose because of Pierre's defense in LF. Id rather take a hit in line up with the hope Rios can produce out of the 9 hole, than watching one of the worst defensive left fielders who has been picked off more times than anyone should. Pierre shouldnt be starting over Lilli or Rios, there is no justification. Good post, but if Rios is in the ninth hole, where do we put Dunn?
-
Serious question ... are people wearing their Dunn jerseys they bought last winter to the ballpark? THat has to be humbling.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 03:41 AM) Id rather have Rios in CF at .555 ops than Pierre in LF at 654 ops given their ability to defend. 11 more total bases for Pierre doesnt make up for errors and bad fielding in LF. The best line up for the Sox has Lilli in the outfield with Rios right now and either Pierre or Dunn dhing. The best lineup has Rios in it? Pierre lf, Lilly cf, CQ rf. Pierre is a better hitter than Rios unfortunately. I'd love to see Tank come up and split time with Juan. Lilly and Rios sharing center. We should be playing a lot of different guys when so many suck.
-
I said it before, but I'd LOOOOVEEEE to see Lilly play 3 days a week for Rios and 3 for Dunn. Or maybe 4 days one week for Dunn; four the other week for Rios. Those 2 guys are that bad and Lilly is having a decent year.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 03:32 AM) And at least Reynolds hit 76 HRs over those two years. I'm not sure Dunn will top 20. He may not hit 10. He's that bad. Sergio baby! He's an all star or close to one. Nice to see Beckham line a hit at the head of the pitcher who almost tore his head off with a fastball. Gordo!
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 03:29 AM) His badness is almost impressive. Yeah, he should try to make an out then he might hit the ball once in a while. At least we know what Lilly will be doing, playing 3 days a week for Rios and 3 for Dunn hopefully.
-
How can Adam Dunn be that bad??
-
Dunn better get a hit here or the booing will be truly monumental.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 03:19 AM) Dunn can't be sent down without being released unless he acquiesces. Oh, then a 2 week DL rest would suffice.
-
Nice double by CQ. Time for a clutch hit. We don't get many.
-
Dunn needs to go reinvent himself in the minors. I have a weird feeling about Sergio in the ninth. NO WALKS!
-
QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 02:52 AM) Adam f***ing Dunn. Please get your head our of your ass. FFS. QUOTE (soxsider11 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 02:54 AM) Put him on the dl or something. Give him a mental break 1.) Hard to do since it's been there for 2-plus months. 2.) Yes, DL him! I would go for that. 2 week break. On a positive note, nice throw AJP! And nice tag.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) @MDGonzales Sox announce Robin Ventura to join player development dept. in special advisor role. Great hire. I wish he could immediately be penciled in the lineup. Yuk yuk (add curley audio)

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:19 PM) greg775 ups the ante of silly with every post. Why would u say that? You like seeing that big lug strike out 40 percent of the time? Just hit the f***ing ball.
-
I don't like his batting stance either, the way he moves the bat way back and bends it for a moment, before flailing at a low curve or slider or change. I'm surprised he gets as many walks as he does with that approach, but he does walk. At this point, I'd settle for singles from the guy. Get a lighter bat and change your game, Adam. You ain't a long ball threat anymore. Just try to hit the ball.
-
I love your posts and agree with loving guys who are "gamers." But as far as Jake I'd call him a "former" Cy Young Award winning pitcher, cause I firmly believe he's going to pitch 3-4 starts at a time for us, then get hurt every time the rest of his career until it's a bad arm injury and that'll be it for his career. I like everything about Peavy except his injury-proneness and his contract. Wasted money. All of it.

Erstad and Wise aren't the talents of Rios and Dunn. Nor the salaries. I can't remember the specifics of either except Wise "earned the job" over somebody like Anderson and everybody was mostly mad cause he bat so high in the order.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) If there's a guy I am worried about, it's Rios. He has been this bad before, and without many exceptions, he's been a worse hitter in the second half. It didn't look like he'd be able to be worse in the second half in 2009, but he was, and was way worse. Dunn? No. He'll hit eventually. I don't think the Dunn we see today will hit eventually. I am thinking he needs to lose weight or change his approach cause he has no f***ing clue.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 04:37 AM) Yeah, he has so much common sense he doesn't call to walk Miguel Cabrera (or Justin Morneau if we wanna go back far enough) in the 9th inning with the game on the line with 2 outs and 2 bases open. How about that Linebrink clusterf*** against the Cubs a couple of years ago? But nevermind, I could fill an entire book with the idiotic decisions Ozzie makes on a regular basis. Basically, you're crediting Ozzie for standing by a guy simply for "playing hard and giving it his all," which basically means you supported his use of Darrin Erstad, Dewayne Wise and others. As usual you display a lack of rudimentary understanding. If there's one thing Ozzie DOESN'T have, it's common sense. Sorry to contradict you, but... you're wrong. What new. Thanks for the unkind words. I just watched the highlights of our loss today and got really mad. If we can't beat that hack of a starter, who had nothing, at home, we got no chance. God our offense sucked against that Penny who was grooving meatball after meatball. Beckham's homer was what that guy shoulda got all five innings long. My god we suck against Detroit and other Central division teams not named Cleveland. Please fire some people, demote some people, start the rebuilding.

Danks' record is not so good. Wish Sox would start rolling at home.
