You guys that hate the bunt kind of slay me. You can't reinvent the game of baseball as much as you may want to. The bunt is called for in many many instances, it's just that the Sox can't bunt and never have been able to bunt since the 60s.

QUOTE (T R U @ May 31, 2011 -> 03:10 AM) Yeah, we can just do what a moron would do and send one of Jackson/Humber/Danks to the pen instead and completely destroy the trade value they would have as starting pitchers.. Buehrle: 73.2 IP - 82 H - 19 BB - 35 K - 3.91 ERA Jackson: 68.0 IP - 79 H - 25 BB - 59 K - 4.63 ERA How is that any case that its outrageous to suggest MB should be the one to go to the pen? Because hes been here 12 years? Theres no point in adding Danks because he is the most likely trade candidate and it would be beyond foolish to put Humber, your best pitcher, into the pen.. Jackson still can have trade value, and he has much better stuff than Buehrle and sorry, but the numbers aren't that much different to suggest that its the wrong move.. Mark is not a relief pitcher; that's why it's so absurd. That just can't happen. He's too established for that. Jackson is the best bet. Though Danks should be put in there ASAP to avoid a 20 loss season and get him some confidence back.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) The only way Gas Prices will ever be "Under control" again is when we stop using gas. Why? Some people seem to think the supply is fine.

Indians lose in part because Jayson Nix homered. Jayson Nix is still in baseball. Good for him.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 31, 2011 -> 02:55 AM) or he may get hot I hope. It'd be kind of stupid to bat him higher than seventh against any lefty starter however. Has he got his first hit against a lefty? I'd bat him 7th or 8th vs. all lefties if he has to play everyday.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 31, 2011 -> 12:31 AM) The top of the 4th was the worst managed inning of Ozzie's career, in my opinion. He needs to take his ass and go to the National League. For that to happen, somebody has to show him the door. You can't fault Ozzie for sticking around until he receives the pink slip.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 31, 2011 -> 02:53 AM) Sox have a ton of games played which means they will benefit from a good amount of off days. Sox have played an absurd amount of games on the road. Nice big win with some good pitching and nice hitting. I know we're all happy and rightfully so, but remember the big lug didn't play tonight. Oz has to play him and when he plays won't he be buzzkill and an automatic out?
-
Shack you are calling for a sweep in Boston. That would be awesome, but highly unlikely. It's Fenway.
-
Wins like tonight make you wonder why we can't play like this/win more often. Maybe it's cause Mr. Whiff didn't play. I don't want to be too negative, but Lilly in right, Quentin at DH might be a better option than Dunn for a while. Peavy is a mental stud. He should take over as team Rah Rah guy. I've been down on him for his brittle body, but nobody has ever denied he's a bulldog personality. No way Oz could remove him an inning too soon tonight.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) Yeah that's how we do things here. Punish the guys who succeed. Yeah, this is the first I've heard that Sox fans are down on Mark. WTF? He's still pretty darn good. And he's a contact pitcher, would be a bad choice for pen.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 31, 2011 -> 02:36 AM) Doubt that. Just his true talent level coming to the surface, hopefully. He looked good. We beat a red hot Red Sox team. Hopefully it'll continue (we've said/thought that before). -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 31, 2011 -> 02:26 AM) Is Lilli our third best player after Ramirez and PK? No. Though I'd take him in cf over Rios if we could trade Rios. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 31, 2011 -> 01:49 AM) You can't have it both ways. You say fire Ozzie or I don't care if he gets fired then want to slurp him if on a rare occasion he does something right. Do you want him gone or not? My position is I think he's deserved to be fired this season. I think he should have been fired already. On a personal level, I want him to manage the Sox forever. If that makes sense. -

Nice to see the Sox coming through in the clutch by finding holes, not trying to hit home runs and popping up all the time. -

I thought it was first and second and nobody out, but I still would have taken a bunt with Lilly. -

That was a perfect time for a f***ing bunt, but we know how soxtalk hates bunting. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 30, 2011 -> 05:00 AM) Pinella/Torre are crusty old farts who are done. What's your fascination with Sandberg? If we want a young hot shot personality we keep Ozzie. If we want to go back to old school baseball, we need an old codger like Torre/Lou. Sandberg is best of both worlds. Young n dull.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 30, 2011 -> 03:33 AM) OK, step away from the crack. Pinella? He did a horrible job in Chicago. There is some criticism in his first year he thought the talent was good enough so he didn't have to manage. Surprise! Surprise! This might as well be an "anybody but Ozzie statement". What's wrong with Piniella? Erase the Cubs disaster and go by his body of work in the AL. What would be wrong with Sandberg? He's very very quiet and dull, just what we need after Ozzie. And Joe Torre. He is the answer. I'd bring him in for the Boston series. Three more losses and this road trip was a horrible disaster.

To you democrats out there, do you really truly like Obama, or are u just happy there's a Democrat in the Oval Office. Not to flame, but the economy??? Gas prices are outta control and socking my pocketbook!
-
Our country is great, but bizarre. Obama can't fix the economy, gas prices are so high, yet he's going to win re-election in a landslide. Is it because the Republican's have such horrific candidates like Palin or ???? Repulicans got nobody to excite anybody. If it's because of race, are there any good African American Republicans to go against Obama??

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2011 -> 02:46 AM) Because I watch the games. Nobody can watch the games and say Ozzie Guillen isn't a bad manager, unless they aren't watching very closely. I challenge you to watch any other game and not point out five to 10 glaring errors by the manager of the losing team. Managers who manage good players win; managers who manage bad and/or/ lazy players lose. There are the rare buffoons like Bevington.
