Why no changes..............Really!
QUOTE (Cali @ May 29, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) I guess Management is completely satisfied with and 82-80, 83-79 season cause thats what's coming this year (just like almost EVERY YEAR) QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 29, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) Words can't describe my hatred for Ozzie Guillen. a.) That would be a pretty good season with this collection of stiffs. b.) Wow. You HATE Ozzie Guillen? How can you hate Ozzie Guillen? So what if he rips the fans? He said said this ... ""I wish I don’t feel any thing for this game. I wish I didn’t care about the White Sox. what the general manager, fans, media thinks. I wish I could say, '(bleep), I don’t give a (bleep). I can’t. I try to put it in my mind that I don’t, but I can't because I love baseball, I love this organization and this is a job I want to do. I’d be lying to myself. I do care about this (stuff). I have a contract for next year. I can get dressed, go home, have dinner with my wife." At least he cares. Does Adam Dunn care? If so, why is he overweight? Does Alex Rios care? If so, why does he suck despite what everybody seems to think is great ability?

QUOTE (T R U @ May 29, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) Ozzie has avg 86 wins a season at the helm, as I already said in the other thread.. And a lot of those times, its been without the same level of talent as the other contending teams.. Is it really Ozzies fault that Rios cant hit water if he fell out of a boat? It must be because of Ozzie that Adam Dunn suddenly forgot how to be worth a damn.. Where is the line here of who is to blame? The coach who seemingly HAS been able to get the most out of what hes been giving, or the dude who gave him these mediocre players in the first place? Weve already gone over a million times how KW hasn't really made any good moves in years.. well what if someone was GM that WAS making good moves.. do you think this team would still be under performing with Ozzie as manager? I don't. I've always been in favor of blaming the players more than the manager. But I think even Ozzie would not be surprised if he got canned. He wouldn't go kicking and screaming. And he'll have a managing job next year for sure. He's a great prototype of what you want in a manager. He won't be nearly as outspoken in any other city. This is Chicago, his city and his team. You really believe he'd say this s*** if he was manager of the Marlins or Phillies?

Realistic Adam Dunn expectations
Is Dunn the worst hitter in White Sox history?

So is everybody in agreement Oz will be fired tonight or after the Boston series? Or will it be Oz/KW both getting the pink slip tonight or after Boston?

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 29, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) At least Harrell saved the pen. Boston has a DH on the road and hopefully this first game goes a good 15 innings. The tribe are coming down to earth and the Sox have played 5 more games then them so who knows....why do I even care. This is the problem. So many think "it's early." Unlike the White Flag deal, it's time to deal.

QUOTE (T R U @ May 29, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) So basically you like everyone who does good, and dislike everyone who isn't performing.. I don't know if all those guys are "doing good."

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Greg, I am sorry, but you just have no concept of how the business of baseball works. Tell me what sense it makes to trade players who have relatively no value on the market because of BOTH their salaries and their production, especially when you have no one in your system worth a damn to replace them? You're going to end up eating a ton of salary to ship them out, meanwhile you're not going to receive anything other than token warm bodies, which you will then have to pay as well. You then replace those players you are still paying with players that are even worse. Far worse, actually. It makes absolutely zero sense whatsoever. Because in a rebuilding, we have to first dump the salaries. I thought my 5-6 suggestions in that order were pretty good. But if the team doesn't go 9-1 in the first 10 games with a new manager/GM when they are fired tonight or after the Boston series, you have to try to get rid of all that salary dead weight. You say nobody wants Rios/Peavy/Dunn, etc. Well why the f*** did the Sox want them? Somebody might want them. You have to dump the salary and take your lumps with the lousy minor leaguers in their place.

I just turned it off my mlb.com. Can't take any more. I try to laugh it off but at some point I start to get mad again. My gosh, who would buy a ticket the rest of the season? I mean if you need to see baseball aren't there, like, five minor league teams in the Chicago area?

To those of you who went to spring training... did the team show signs of being the one of the worst in baseball? Were there tangible signs of this?

QUOTE (chisoxt @ May 29, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) Trading the older vets would just be a salary dump, assuming that you can even move them. If you want to restock your farm system, sadly you have to trade your more valuable assets Will anybody think Rios/Peavy/Dunn/AJ/Jackson can contribute? I think you can trade them. Unfortuately you may have to eat salary and Jerry may not want those type of deals.

My suggestions in order ... a.) Quietly kill all the 'all-in' commercials and mention on website. b.) Fire Ozzie and Kenny both and promote this Hahn guy. c.) See if that wakes up the team and it actually plays ball. d.) In the interim, start planning trades and lots of em. If we don't go 9-1 in the 10 games with new manager/GM, start dealing. Give away players if you have to. Trade in order, Juan, Rios, Dunn, Edwin, Danks and Paulie. Oh I forgot, Peavy after Rios.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 29, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) Any "it's early" folks still out there? Oh they are still there. I commend them for their optimism, but it's misguided IMO.

Didn't Kenny say June 1 was the date he'd assess the team? There's a lot of pressure on him to make the right trades the rest of the year. Who will be dealt first?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2011 -> 07:11 PM) I don't think I can take it anymore. I've got no insults or criticism left in me. I've used them all up dating back to last year's September collapse. Well then just sit back and relax and watch. It's not rocket science. We were due for a season where we were out of it in May. Let's just hope somehow this can be fixed/tweaked and the Sox aren't a s***ty team for years to come.

The problem with firing everybody after this game is there's no plan in place for the future. The current team has a batch of slow ballplayers and underachievers (for this season at least). The minor league system has nothing except Tank. The team's only hope still is the starting pitching and Danks now looks like s*** as well as Jackson. Suddenly, the White Sox managing/GM job doesn't look like a good one.

Well, there are some certainties in life. Death, taxes and losing 3 of 4 or 4 of 4 in Toronto. No way we're going to win more than one in Boston. The one win would be a miracle.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) I think shack might be right. I might have to take a week off from this board. Why? This team deserves all the criticism/mockery you can give out. Unfortunately, the future looks so grim with not many good minor leaguers except Tank.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2011 -> 07:01 PM) lmao. Dunn is fun bad right now. Get this overweight donkey out of here. 0/38 against lefties and he just adds to his major league-leading K total at 69. And he missed like a week. It'd probably be 80 or something. No, if he hadn't had the appendectomy he'd be the Dunn of old. It threw him off for five weeks. (green).

Yeah, when we are down 12-2 it's over. When we are up 12-2, expect a 12-9 win. LOL at Dunn.

Realistic Adam Dunn expectations
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2011 -> 06:41 AM) That's a misconception by many. I don't have "anger" over baseball. At least not at almost 28. Frustration if I feel my team is underperforming? Yes. But I don't go shooting at chickens when the Sox lose. It's really not that serious. Same here. I guess I'm a very annoying personality on the site this season because I'm so apathetic and it brings out negativity in my comments. IN MY MIND we have a lousy team and it really takes over my personality overall on the board. I do pretty much expect us to lose every night so I am pleasantly surprised and definitely happy when the Sox do win. It's the first time in a long time in my Sox fandom that because of our early play I do expect us to lose pretty much every game. In the past I've always expected Sox to win. I guess it would take a really long piece of winning to get me out of my shell shocked state from that stretch where the Sox bent over and lost game after game. But in real life, I'm not all depressed about the White Sox. I just kind of shut up when friends ask about the team and get on with other things.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2011 -> 05:52 AM) greg has shocked me. He's slurped guys like Wise, Jenks and said Dye was a good defender from '07-'09. I've never done that. Bad baseball is bad baseball. greg hates everybody. As much s*** as I talk, I've never blamed KW for the Dunn signing. He just sucks. No way around it. I just wonder what you meant by I hate everybody. I don't think I hate everybody on the team. Around the horn, I like Paulie, Beckham, Lexi, neutral on Morel. I like him more than dislike. Dislike Teahen, not a fan of Omar playing every day. Currently don't like AJ much. Don't like Pierre, dislike Rios, definitely like CQ. Hate Dunn. On the mound, like Mark, Danks, don't care much for Floyd, Jackson, I do like Humber. Not a fan of any of our relief corps except Sergio. Really down on Matt and not a huge fan of what I've seen of Sale. Hate Pena. Bench: I do like Lilly; don't like Castro much. So I like a majority of the team. Coaches: Don't care for any of them right now. Love Ozzie, hate the job he's done burying us this year.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:51 AM) I'm not expecting people to gloss-over the team's suckage. I'm saying that people need to give it a rest sometimes. We all know that the team is struggling and underachieving. We all know that they're spending 125 mil this year. We all know the the minors needs rebuilding. Most know that the coaching and management should be under closer scrutiny. It just doesn't need it harped on EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. You know what? Normally I'd agree but the team brought it on itself. It just did. It's just so hard to not bag on this team when it fell so far behind so early. Yes the boys played better going 9-3 or something but this road trip is sucking as well and the team simply is no good. How can we give it a rest when this team has done nothing? We'd have to just stop talking about the team to say much positive about it when it's All In. I tell you, if they'd get rid of that slogan I mentally might chill a bit. If they'd wipe it off the websites and commercials I'd feel better. It sickens me everytime I go to the webpage.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 28, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) If they want fans to spend their hard earned cash on this team they better start taking this seriously. If they want to stick with Ozzie and Walker they won't be getting much support at the gate. "All In!" What a joke! Actually a new manager probably would make a difference for about 10 days. If we can get in the race in that 10 day period it might work. Otherwise this team's holes will again eventually show themselves no matter who is in charge. If they want to fire Ozzie, fine. Go ahead. But the new manager won't make a difference. This team is too slow and has severe pitching problems in the bullpen. Also, a new manager won't be able to get Rios and Dunn going. Not this year. The starting pitching of course has been very good for the most part, though Jackson has been kinda horses*** at times and Danks is winless.
