  1. He definitely deserves to keep starting. Jackson or Danks should be bullpen bound.
  2. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 27, 2011 -> 07:00 AM) This. Yet I still am not worried about him or am any less excited about him being on the sox for some reason. Probably because he's new. It takes a while to hate the new players. That's human nature. Some people still don't think Rios sucks as he's been here what, three years now?
  3. You Pierre haters might want to tip your cap his way. He got 2 more hits and is not doing so bad the last month. I mean it's OK to despise him, but to not forgive him for those early errors is stupid. Several guys have been just as bad or WORSE. Spread the hate around. Praise Juan today. And oh yes, Humber! Sergio appears to be the real deal as closer. I hope we can put a good team around him as he dominates a year or two cause being a closer is hazardous to one's health (aside from Yanks). Soria sucks this year and he was unhittable for a couple years. Feliz was on DL and doesn't appear as nasty either.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) Of course, as soon as they start hitting, the starting pitching will go in a slump too. Then they will lose 8-6 instead of 2-1. Exactly, that's why I say we have a s***ty team and get fried for it. It's a really dysfunctional unit the past couple seasons and Ozzie has deserved to get the boot for it. I think Oz is a good manager but something is amyss. Probably the fact he's been here so long and guys are loafing and going through the motions, Rios the likely candidate to be leading the loaf brigade. Adam is all fat n happy with his new deal. He ought to get in shape. If losing 15 pounds stifles his power ... well losing 15 pounds won't stifle his power.
  5. QUOTE (forrestg @ May 26, 2011 -> 05:23 AM) RIos is our only legitimate centerfielder albeit his hitting is slightly disappointing. Slightly?
  6. Thome does swing hard. I did like the big lug, though.
  7. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 26, 2011 -> 03:22 AM) Peavy: Why? He has a chance to be a major contributor to this team. I fully understand the injury risk and cost, but why do people want to think Clayton Richard was every really that good here? Pena: Sox fans really need to stop this weird obsession with Brandon Allen. He's still in AAA. We're a below average team not because we're missing a slow corner position player who won't ever get a shot. Rios: There are MAYBE 10 actual, legit CF's in baseball and he is one of them. Peavy: I can buy your argument. But I still hope we dump him on somebody. I'm assuming the Sox could use the money and Peavy is a huge injury risk at all times. Pena: Yuk. Who cares about Allen. We're talking about Pena and he is abysmal. Rios: Ugg. Legit CF? He's been average at best with the White Sox. This year he has been horrific.
  8. I don't live on it. I check the board a lot. And I still like the team. It doesn't mean it's not a s***ty team.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ May 25, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) When the Sox were 11-22, would you have taken 12-6 the next 18 games? That's what they've done. Now let's get 4-5 wins in Toronto and Boston and come home and start kicking ass. Good luck to our crap team in Toronto and Boston. I hope for the best. We shall see.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 25, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) So no reason, other than Viciedo raking in AAA, and 2 of our OF'ers sucking? Huh? No I mean no reason to not play him every day in the major leagues. I'm with you. I worded it wrong I guess.
  11. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ May 25, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) Because... it's not remotely true? lol. Why? Oh I know, cause there are 100 games left, blah blah.
  12. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 25, 2011 -> 10:14 PM) Realistically who thought we'd be able to take 2 of 3 in Texas anyways? Usually we get swept. Toronto doesn't usually bode well for us either- if we can get through this road trip somehow around 4-5 I don't think it's time to throw in the towel just yet. We can always wait till the trade deadline when teams get more desperate to trade away the pieces at that point as well. But as stated there is a lot of baggage with a lot of our guys whether it be contracts or 10 and 5 guys that won't be easy to get rid of at a premium price. It's almost like we're all in...literally. Good post. I fully expected a Texas sweep. I agree with your post though.
  13. There's really no reason to not play Viciedo every day. I guess Pierre is the odd man out, but I actually think Rios is as worthless as Pierre if worthless is the right word. Probably too strong a word. Lousy might be better.
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ May 25, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) The way the Heat put their team together really pisses me off. It will be really easy for me to just not pay any attention to the NBA for many seasons. Why? The Bulls are going to be contenders every year with Rose only getting better. Yes the Heat may beat us every year but we got Rose.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 25, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) Really, we played better than 1-2. Maybe, but the Sox aren't going to go to Texas and win two of three. Not this year. They'll find a way to f*** it up.
  16. Last night's win was good; today's loss mega bad. 1-2 in Texas is the best we could reasonably expect, however, considering the teams we are talking about.
  17. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ May 25, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) While I am just as skeptical as most here, you've flat out said "It's over" numerous times now and that's just silly. You talked about how horrible they've been "lately" when "lately" is when they've gone on a good streak and played the best baseball they have all year for the most part. I wonder if you don't pay attention or of you just don't know any better. I pay attention. I watch most of the games. Why is it silly when I say it's over? It's my perception, my opinion that this team buried itself and doesn't have "it." I do hope I'm wrong. If I've said they've been horrible lately, I don't know when I said that. I realize until this series they'd been winning series of late. I'd love it if they could start dumping parts and "rebuild" cause what they are doing now isn't good. As far as Rios, he's been a big bust. Had some good games as a Sox, but a bust.
  18. QUOTE (bulokis @ May 25, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) Time to go young! F*** this team. According to many on this site, nobody will take Rios, Dunn, AJ, Peavy, Mark off our hands so we can't go young.
  19. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 25, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) I am not 100% willing to chalk this up on Ozzie, but it's close. Let's just face it that Ozzie's decision making is amongst the worst in baseball. It even was in 2005, we just played over it, whether you want to believe it or not. Yeah, a lot of White Sox managers have led teams to pennants over the centuries. Ozzie should be gone now, but in 05 give him his due!!
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) All the usual conspirators this season. Beckham with the fielding error, Dunn and Pierre again, Alexei being impatient and swinging at the first pitch, Rios and AJ giving us absolutely nothing. This season's starting to feel like 2009 all over again. The White Sox will probably get back into the race, not enough to blow things up and not close enough to make a real run or add, either. Frustrating, to say the least. Caufield I love your posts. But I can't believe some people think they are going to back into the race. This team doesn't have it.
  21. Just accept the fact we don't win series against good teams. Blow.It.Up soon please KW and Jerry. Deal the richest players and go from there.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) As someone said, sure would have been nice to have Dunn facing a RIGHTY with 2 on and 1 out instead of Mr. Worthless on the Road. Yeah Right. Adam Dunn would have come through. Ha.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 25, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) I'd call myself an idiot and be as happy as a schoolgirl. Me too. It's nuts to say only advancing in the playoffs matters. You've got to get there first.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2011 -> 07:14 PM) The traded him and picked up a chunk of his salary. That is pretty much the same thing. They paid him to go away either way. Yes but it's not the same. A lot of people on Soxtalk want to DFA Pierre, Pena. How often does that happen when a guy is making good money?
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) This offense can't continue to get shut out on average about once a week. Sounds simple enough, but they're not even giving the Sox a chance to win when they no show. Oh, and get Viciedo up here immediately to help against LHP. I've turned off today's game cause like somebody said the team is so inconsistent this truly to me looks like one of those blah games where the Sox will get shut out. Maybe I'll be good luck turning it off for now. I'm not in the mood to see it. Last night I wanted to watch every pitch once the Bulls disaster ended.
