  1. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) With so many people clamoring that moving Beckham around would hurt his bat (not to say that you are one of them, I don't know), how can it be a good idea to move Lillibridge to three positions each week? I don't see the logic behind some arguing that moving Beckham away from 2B would destroy him at the plate, yet having Lillibridge playing as a full-time player with no full-time position is a good idea. It seems like he's good defensively wherever they stick him, especially in the outfield. He seems well suited to move around, comfortable everywhere. I'd go for a major platoon with Rios and Pierre right now and give CQ a DH assignment once in a while over Dunn.
  2. Dirk didn't sound too happy about the finger. I stick with my Heat in 5. Sounds like progress was made today regarding the negotiations. My guess is Stern wants to remain the commish with no strikes and stoppages and they solve the issue soon. Too much money out there. And players must realize some of these teams truly do appear to be struggling. Just look in the stands during the regular season at some teams.
  3. Hawk is funny how on one home run he can use 3-4 of his catchphrases. Paulie 'put it on the board, yes.' Paulie got a 'mercy.' And he got the new line about the house in Scottsdale. I don't know if he added 'dont stop now boys' I do like Hawk.
  4. Paulie really needs to be an all star this time. He's really everything that's right with the White Sox and baseball. Did he make it last year? I forget. I don't think he did. I think Matt was our only star. BTW if we do want to trade Paulie ever, I don't think Boston fans will ever forget today's home run over the monster into that van. I think we could get a lot from Boston someday for Paulie if we want to.
  5. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 05:47 AM) people will come back to earth about lillibridge if ozzie plays him everyday, there's a reason he isn't an everyday player, he will get expoooooooosed quickly Possibly, probably, but I think Rios has been so bad that Lilly should play 3 days a week in center at least with Rios the other 3-4 and Lilly can also play another day in right and have CQ the DH when Dunn is facing a lefty. I'd let Lilly play 4-5 times a week at least while he's hot. Why not? Rios is an automatic out and Dunn is an automatic out vs. lefties.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) Uhm...of course he is. Ozzie is too loyal. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 02:28 AM) Howsabout some credit for Ozzie for getting Lilli into the perfect match ups? Nah. Funny that Walker and Ozzie never get any credit (from some posters) for anything. I don't think Ozzie would praise Walker in this regard if he didn't believe it. Ozzie doesn't shy from speaking his mind.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:04 AM) Lillibridge has always had very quick hands and bat speed which allowed him to generate good power. The problem was his swing was very long and he had a pretty poor eye. That's a good post. I was wondering how the hell he hits for such power. The man shoulda had 2 homers today. This guy is a better power hitter than Dunn. He HAS to start over Rios right now. Lilly is stroking the baseball. Or just keep moving him around. CF 3 days a week and give CQ a rest in right one day, give somebody a rest at third one day. This man should be playing a lot at least until this hot streak ends. He can hit and hit with power somehow.
  8. Gavin, nice job after the slow start. Sergio. Sale. Paulie. That home run that dented the van should get a lot of play on SportsCenter.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) If Jackson ends up going to the pen, it's just one more piece of evidence that KW needs to be replaced. Probably. But this year, he's the likely candidate to go to pen with Phil pitching so well. With our luck, he'll go to the pen and Humber will start getting rocked. Then we'll bring Jackson back to rotation and he'll get rocked. On and on. I actually am falling in love with the 6 man rotation.
  10. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:32 PM) i would have gladly taken a 5-5 road trip if you had asked me the day before we went to texas I'd take a 5-5 road trip every time IF we win 8 of every 10 at home or 7 of 10. Sox haven't been all that hot at home overall.
  11. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) Can this be a turnaround for the Sox. We win three in a row in Beantown and I believe have a winning record on this road trip I just truly wish they'd follow the cliche, come to play every day and take them 'one at a time.' When the Sox come to play, they are fun to watch. Sergio is close to automatic, which is one thing u obviously need as a team.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) PK seriously dented that van! I can't believe the Bosox players park there. That's stupid. Tons of homers leave the park.
  13. Dunn needs to be sent down for a month. There I said it.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:18 PM) GTFO Frank > all and it isn't even close. greg775, you are driving me batty today. Paulie is one of the top couple of players in Sox history.
  15. Paulie may be the best player in White Sox history. That is all. I realize Frank is maybe better.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) I'm not a bunt hater. I like players who can get down bunts in an effective situation. I am an awful player hater though. I hate bad players. Sorry I forgot to add the Rios comment to your quote in my post.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:10 PM) Well, most I'm sure believe Dunn will snap out of his funk, while Rios has a lot of tools. Juan is pretty much worthless in all aspects of the game save batter walk-up music, so I guess I understand that. You bunt haters won't have to worry bout the bunt with the big sticks up. I hate when people think Rios has "tools." Let's see 'em.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) If Crawford reaches, you have to bring in a righty to face Lowrie. This is what I don't get when some want Sale to close like they wanted Thornton. Lefties will face righties if they are closers, yet people jumped my ass for saying I didn't want a lefty closer. Why do you HAVE to bring in a rightie to face Lowrie? If Sale is nasty enough to have closer's stuff can't he get out a righty or two??
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) I'm pretty sure everyone is pissed about Rios and Dunn. Where in the f*** have you been and what the f*** are you talking about? Are you on drugs today? You really think people aren't complaining about Rios and Dunn? The Official "Alex Rios Sucks" Thread got 230 replies for f***s sake. Wake up. A lot of people still like Rios and Dunn. Only one or three think Juan is even serviceable.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Matt Thornton being one of those people. Yes Matt and many Sox fans don't mind the s***tiness of Rios and Dunn?
  21. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Not sure I understand all the Pierre hate right now.. Lets see, over the last month, he is at .286 with a .365 OBP.. Not groundbreaking, but CERTAINLY not deserving of all the venom from people. If you want "s***ty performances for the month of May", then look no farther than #32: .204/.356 Just sayin'... Some people will never forgive him for dropping those fly balls early in the season. Also people hate his weak singles and weak arm.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) So people are seriously complaining about a hitter taking a walk to load the bases with only 1 out in an inning? Dunn has been beyond awful this year but complaining about him taking a walk in that situation is absurd. A walk is great. I think we're just lamenting the fact he has sucked big time this season. His home run totals are embarrassing for a big lug like him.
  23. QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) Dunn is going to the plate in that situation looking to walk and not strikeout. He has no confidence, they should send him down for a few weeks to beat up on some AAA pitching so he can remember what solid contact feels like. Pierre should just go away, but he is Ozzie's man crush. I swear he has pictures of ozzie and is using them as blackmail. Pierre's hitting .260. In Sox management eyes that's dandy.
  24. If we still win, I will tip my cap to the Sox. Leaves the bags loaded was not good.
