  1. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 11:46 PM) I really gave this guy a chance. I mean he's built to succeed. He just strikes me as an athlete who is happy to collect his paycheck and doesn't care much about winning, etc. Bingo. Unfortunately Kenny apparently doesn't care about guy's reputations when they join his team. It was a horrible acquisition. He's Jose Guillen.
  2. I think most of us do not consider Jake Peavy a viable member of the team and haven't for some time now. He may go 3-4 starts max without getting hurt, but that will be it. Let's face facts. He's a huge huge bust and will not pitch much for us.
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) 90 wins is a pipedream. It's time to pack it in now and start SELLING!!! Just do it. And firing of course.
  4. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) maybe for teahen and rios but i was here when we got peavy and dunn, this board was ecstatic That's cause they are name players. We can hope we get a name player from another organization worth a s***.
  5. That's it for me. Do the right thing after this game, Kenny, fire Ozzie. Then I would ask Jerry to do the right thing and fire you on Tuesday.
  6. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) I hope you meant that to be in green It was anger speakin. The team stinks.
  7. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) Excuse my language, but they sould just bend over, this is a pathetic bunch of losers What you mean? The fact the Sox fall behind by four runs and we all know they don't have a prayer of getting back in the game ... at home ... in a big game?
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) Ugh, I hate when people talk about him being a competitor. Who the f*** cares, if he pulls himself with a strained groin after allowing 6 runs in an inning, then I would rather he pull himself prior to getting torched if he was actually hurt during the inning. If this was Garland, we'd be saying he was suffering from Loser's Limp. I love Garland. I still sayPeavy is injury prone (very very bad), but a competitor (good). Like you say it ultimately doesn't matter as he is a horrendous waste of money. So much money down the drain.
  9. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Meh, I'm checking out, this team is too fustrating to watch... "Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in"! My frustration level may last another batter or two. We shouldn't be out of it with nine outs to go, but I fear we are soooo out of it.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) So from 2009 to 2011, does anyone know what Peavy's stats are for the Sox and how much we've paid him for that? The only good thing about Peavy is his competitive attitude and I wish it would have rubbed off on some of our other players like Rios. I like Peavy the person; I hate Peavy the DLish player.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Sadly this game is OVA again........Sigh! Another series loss at home. Sadly is right. Too bad we don't have a reliever like Al Albuquerque. At least we'd like seeing him enter the game with that name. We have one good reliever and that of course is Sergio who is a god. I can't believe how injury prone Jake is and how badly we play against divisional opposition. It truly is remarkable and another reason we need to break up the team and fire Oz and KW. Oz can't beat the Central and KW can't put together a team to compete in the Central.
  12. I was at the sandwich shop when we had two men on against Penny. My god what horrible at bats by Lilly and I forget who right before him. Penny was throwing soft meat up there and we stranded both those runners. Dunn with a base hit. I'll take it. Oh I remember it was AJ with that weak ass tapper to the mound.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) I feel like this is karma for us for always mocking Prior and Wood. Can't argue with that. How true.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) Really, crowds aren't down all that much from last year despite the weather...and the season from Hell was still 2007. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) To pitch against a LH batter when Thornton was being hammered, yes. 1.) This season has hell written all over it IMO. 2.) Ah, Thornton, another lousy reliever.
  15. Didn't somebody want Ohman to come in the game the other night? He's just another lousy reliever on our team. Sorry to see Peavy get hurt but it does not surprise me obviously.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) That's pathetic. Tomorrow should be a big crowd due to half price night, but the crowds the rest of the week will be in the low 20s likely. I'm glad crowds are down for this horrible underachieving team. Sox still can't beat their brethren in the Central and we've only played Minnie twice. Ha. This is the season from hell.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 11:44 PM) Actually, they might well give up Chris Young in order to move his salary away. Rios, Jackson and Teahen for Hudson. Give some money as well.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 01:13 AM) There is no learning at the MLB level. You must be a star right away or you'll never be any good. Great post. He's 24 years old. I think he's a reasonable prospect. That glove is sooo good.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 07:45 PM) Yeah, I am one of Juan's bigger supporters....but he is still terrible defensively, and just sort of average offensively. I wonder what would happen if we put Rios in the leadoff spot and just said "Concentrate on getting on base. Don't worry about driving in runs or hitting home runs. Just get on base and steal bases when you can." I think he would do better than Juan in such a role, and we would maintain his defense in center. Shack my gosh I can't believe I read this. So take Juan who actually is doing OK and just demote him and promote Rios, who can't hit a Little Leaguer to leadoff. For the life of me I can't understand those who actually want Rios on this team much less hitting leadoff. We have to find a way to dump Rios on somebody.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 04:10 AM) If Adam Dunn hit .280 for the rest of the year and averaged 6 homers a month from here until the end of the season, his line ends up somewhere along the lines of .240/.380/.470/.850 with about 30 homers. His 162 game average is .248/.379/.515/.893 and 39 homers. He hit .288 in the first half of last season - 88 games - and he was at .281 in game 98 of last year, so there is some ability to hit for average there, even if it takes a bit of luck. Also, during the only point in his career where the team he was on was contending whatsoever, 2008 with the Diamondbacks, he put up .243/.417/.472/.889 during part of August and September and was on about a 32 homer pace. He's hit well when his team has been in it before. Again, I am not worried about him at all. Wite you are a very patient man. You'd be a good boss to work for. You are not worried at all about a guy who has been a total mess at the plate. As far as the word to describe him, Jordan I believe listed 'pathetic.' That's good enough. You don't need to search any farther for a word.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 02:32 AM) So let me get this right...Ozzie calls out Rios for his bad body language, and then he doesn't run out a few grounders tonight? I'll be so disappointed if he's in the lineup tomorrow. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 02:43 AM) Disagreeing with facts, no. "Allowed?" Well, sure; you can if you want... you're still wrong. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 02:47 AM) Facts like Cabrera was 0/3 on the game and looked bad doing so, Facts like Martinez is hitting .340 with a .936 OPS since coming back from the DL? 1.) Wow. So Rios has officially become lazy with the White Sox as he was in Toronto? He's become the Sox's version of Jose Guillen (with KC before)? I'm speechless. What a horrible horrible acquisition. I'd rather see Anderson out there. I really would. Is Brian still trying to pitch somewhere or retired? 2.) i read the thread. Some opinionated stuff there. 3.) My take on the game is we had it tied against Verlander, have to win it, just have to at home. Very very bad loss when you are as many back as we are and with Cleveland getting abused by the Rangers. s***ty loss for the white sox. Losing the series should put us back in sell mode quickly. Dunn was horrible as usual with a chance to tie it. Gosh he is worthless as well as Rios.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) It wouldnt be the first on-air partner that Hawk had a tiff with. But if Stone leaves because of Hawk, it will gain a hell of a lot more attention than DJ or Wimpy. I noticed recently when Hawk makes a blatant comment like it's 100 percent accurate Stone just shut up. I was wondering if Hawk was wanting to pick a fight so to speak. If Hawk is being a dick I would think Stone isn't the type to put up with it. Stone's a good color man and I'm sure Stone is aware of that.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) Pierre LF, Ramirez SS, Quentin DH, Pierzynski C, Rios CF, Lillibridge RF, Dunn 1B, Beckham 2B, Morel 3B That tells us all we need to know about Oz's confidence in Dunn. AJ fourth and Dunn seventh. Wow.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 07:48 PM) Does anyone think that Rios might be the one to lose his job to Lillibridge? It occurred to me last night when I saw Rios hit a lazy weak fly ball to 2nd base when the bases were loaded, and also earlier when he hit what should have been a double play ball to the pitcher with the bases loaded..... He just doesnt look like things are going to get better for him at this point. Yes, Rios' playing time should be cut 1/3 to 1/2 immediately with Lilly the man in center. It's about production. Lousy production for a full month is why we're so many games back. Rios has been bad for 2 months.
  25. I may be statistically traditional but I know strikeout totals when I see them and my eyes tell me he hasn't done squat and it's June 4. Yes I know he's drawn some walks.
