  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) The big difference so far is the "one bad inning" that 3 of our starters have had. True. At some point we need to outlast these bums in a game. Even in Game One, we were gasping at the end but at least won.
  2. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) This is a COMPLETELY different team than the one before the AS Break.... It's obvious the break came at a bad time for us. We did great in Game One, since then it's been the s***s. We need a split badly.
  3. Now our other punch n Judy hitter. Though he got that nice double in the ninth yesterday.
  4. That's about as good as we could have hoped for from Juan, who now has 17 RBIs.
  5. I have a feeling we don't want to see him pull the ball. How bout a flare to left?
  6. Nice hit, no time for a Juan roller to second.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) They have a great approch against Garcia, who is leaving far too many pitches up in the zone. As for the offense, Blackburn has get burned by the long ball this season, but outside of our 3-4-5, we don't have enough powerful hitters in this gigantic stadium. Yeah, that makes sense. If Castro wanted to go to with the pitch, that first pitch was meaty.
  8. Ouch. You could hear Lexi scream. He's a likeable player.
  9. How come we can't abuse their total hack of a pitcher and they are hitting our No. 5?
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) Good pitch to Young. Good pitch. Exactly he's mad the umps won't give them the full allotment time for commercials and telling the viewers the umps are screwing them.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) Absolutely, but we're already hearing excuses for why Jones/Kotsay are going to stay on the roster. I'm definitely of the opinion that it's time to move Beckham back into the 2nd spot. If Kenny's going to go for a big bat and trade our favorite minor leaguers he might as well do it sooner rather than later. Ease the sting and give the bat some time to get acclimated.
  12. I hate series where eventually you are just happy to get out of town and move on to the next stop. We're not there, yet, but the start of this game has sucked majorly.
  13. He takes that pitch instead of serving it into right field and Alex is out by a mile.
  14. Does CQ always swing at everything like Dayan? I don't get to see all the games.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) BTW, talk about pitching away from your defense. Rios was shading Cuddyer to right center, and Garcia threw a fastball. It's those little things that hurt us when we play the Twins. Yep. Alex on base, pulling a Twins move and going with the pitch.
  16. We've seen this before. I thought after winning game one we had their soul.
  17. I wonder if Earl Weaver, who hated the bunt, ever cared about guys hitting the other way and moving them over. I'm just making conversation. I realize it's what you are suppposed to do and all that. But if you slam a double off the left field wall, nobody's caring you didn't move the runner over. Don't freak, I'm just asking.
  18. Beckham survives the sophomore slump (jinx). He is back. To his credit he never sulked and the organization didn't give up on him and send him down.
  19. Good stuff. I've heard the postgame show on the Internet and I especially love the calls where they want the Sox to acquire something incredible for Linebrink or the package of Linebrink/Teahen. Les also has gotten that call on the late late show.
  20. As hot as we've been, I thought we had the Twins where we wanted 'em. That's the disappointing thing about this game. It would have been nice to come back against the Twins. We're down 1-2 to the Thomies this series and they ain't got Morneau. Losing 3 of 4 would really be bad, even though we're on the road. As hot as we've been and as how s***ty they were before the break, this would be very disappointing start to the second half. A split would be fine. I've got a sneaky feeling we gonna get beat like 9-4 tomorrow.
  21. Real, it's cocky of you to say it's OBVIOUS it's Viciedo. I think a lot of people right at the all star break were really excited about the pop he brings to our lineup potentially. I'd send Lilly down. I'm still not a Lilly believer. We need Viciedo's pop.
  22. Minnesota winning 3 of 4 would really be great momentum for that team, especially kicking our ass w/out Morneau. They'd be right back in feeling like they have our number almost every series we play them. Like you said, it's not going to be easy. Hopefully Freddy will continue to surprise (me at least) and we can hit that utter stiff they are pitching. Losing 3 of 4 after winning the opener would be puzzling and sad.
  23. Good point, Balta, but I'd hate to see the Sox make another trade where they deal 4 guys for one like the Peavy deal. I think the Sox are screwed. At this point of year, teams like the Royals would gladly ship us a guy like DeJesus for 4 prospects. It's not worth it to get beat in the first round of the playoffs if we make it that far. Our only "hope" would be to acquire a guy like gulp, Jose Guillen, who the Royals would give us for one minor league stiff. Guys like that, who are not really wanted by their teams and are making way too much money. Guillen would be a rental and a bad one at that, he's just the example I'm using. If we want Dunn or Oswalt, we would have to give up so much it'd be sickening to think about.
  24. Easy. He saved the perfect game with perhaps the best play defensively in team history. Also he got some big hits and pretty much did what he was asked to do despite getting booed mercilessly and ripped by fans for no reason. Nobody said he was supposed to be anything but the team's last outfielder on the roster, except Oz, who started him and led him off on opening day. I love Wise.
