Sox vs Atlanta June 24th 1:05 first pitch
greg775 replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2010 Season in Review
True, Chet, but I log on and have to read about Jenks not being good in tie games before some will give the guy praise. Sox fans take for granted excellent performances, but when we lose or Jenks blows a game ... BAM they will bury him. Praise the guy, people. Praise him!!! And this team is doing so well. Amazing job by Oz and the players or I should say the players and Oz as the players are the producers, but he has done a fine job as well. -

Recently? Are you f***ing kidding me? People's hatred of Jenks is borderline insane!! He is a f***ing stud and was again today. People on this board cannot admit they were WRONG I guess. I admit I'm wrong all the time. I can't believe I log on and there's more Jenks hate going on after ANOTHER WIN and another dominant save. Jenks rocks!!!!!!!!!!!! When he dominates like today why can't EVERYBODY just enjoy it and praise his big f***ing ass???? -
Yeah and that's why those who kept saying it was early and we were still in it, deserve credit. The team was so bad for so long. Hopefully the pitching keeps this up cause our lineup still isn't too dandy.

Who should start at 3B/2B for the near future?
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I like this one right now. I can't believe I'd ever want Omar in our lineup heading into this season. I wouldn't mind Viciedo at third and Omar/Beckham combo at second. I think it'd be dumb to kill the mojo right now and change anything drastically til we lose 2 in a row. The team turned it around; maybe Beckham finally will. I wouldn't be upset though, if Beckham got sent down, except for the superstitious part of changing a good thing. -
Great win. I forget which of you were preaching during our worst times of April and May that the season wasn't over and we might still turn it around, but I congratulate you. You should remind us who you were with your most positive post(s). I know there were at least 2 of you maybe 3-4-5. I just couldn't see it. It was easy to disagree/mock you upon reading them at that time. No matter what happens the rest of the way, I'm going to try to temper my bitterness/anger because I never ever thought this team could get its s*** together after playing so badly for week atter week. -- Can CQ be getting hot?? Would be very nice. Great job tonight by him. -- I guess if the team immediately goes in the tank after returning to AL competition it might be easy to rip the team again, but my god, great job White Sox in rolling the past couple weeks. Wow.

You definitely fooled me here. That was a long statement that I was hooked by. As far as tie games, I just think Jenks has sucked in enough of those that there is a pattern and on those nights I might first go with Putz or Thornton. But if that is vital that closers do that some nights, then yes Oz will have to trot Bobby out in tie games again. -

I think he has proven he's not real good in tie games or with a huge huge lead. If Oz was smart he'd skip the tie game thing with Bobby unless he has no choice. -

What baffles me is you guys who want a new closer, act like the new closer will stand the test of time rather than one or two outings. Jenks has been doing a fine job in the role this season and several past seasons. You folks act like Putz will just blow through inning after inning, night after night. He won't. All closers all baserunners on occasion; all closers give up runs on occasion (except for Texas'). All closers BLOW SAVES on occasions. Put Putz out there for a full month and I guarantee you he'll blow as many or more saves than Jenks. That you can't realize that confounds me. -

Well I did tonight, Kalapse. Must have overlooked it in my anger, before. -

Great great victory. Even you Jenks haters are getting what you wish from Bobby, who apparently can pitch well even without the support of Soxtalk. He's blowing people away. My god, even the most proud of you ... give him his f***ing props. Kalapse gave him his props. The rest of you are insane (just kidding, don't ban me). -
I didn't explain it well but I meant Stone saying how ridiculous it is for Oz to have him here if he's not playing. I guess the rip could be of KW or Oz or both depending on the facts. It's growing apparent he still should be in the minors if he's going to get Nix-like playing time.
-
Judging from the nice DP he turned the other day, I'd take Viciedo right now. And give Omar starts at third two days a week and starts at second for hitless Beckham 2 days at second. Viciedo needs to play 5 of every seven games or it's worthless ruining his progress up here.
-
If we are 8-9 out at the all star break don't you think KW will still trade AJ to a contender? I think so. If we are 4 out I guess we stay with AJ and then deal him for nothing this offseason.
-
I agree 100 percent. Should be interesting to see Stone's take on this one. Doesn't he need to show some balls and attack Ozzie on this one like he attacked Lou? At least there should be some article explaining Oz's use of Viciedo. There probably has been one and I missed it.
-
I'm at the point I expect to see 0-for-4 in the box score for Beckham and 1-4 is a mild pleasant surprise. He's been that bad. At least he's working on his defense at a new position in the big leagues during his season from hell. He seems pretty decent at second in the games I've watched.
-
Will Viciedo be the downfall of Ken or Oz? It's obvious Kenny didn't even consult Oz before bringing him up. Isn't it apparent Oz remains in love with Omar and Viciedo will not play? This will further strain the 2's relationship. Will they be headed for more fights?
-
Now if you want to talk Wise, I'll talk Wise. I loved that guy. As far as Teahen, I have to back Kenny on this one. You can roll out different stats, but just watching Teahen, he is one of the worst third basemen in modern history. He is horrific at third. And he's not a good outfielder by any means. Royals fans were thrilled he left town. But why argue. This is one of these eye test arguments. Kenny obviously is sick of the thought of seeing Teahen play another game here, just like many of you couldn't stand the thought of Wise being on the team. I think many of us would be fine if Teahen was a utility guy the next 10 years for us. Play once a week max. WC Sox has presented some good stats how Teahen was actually OK compared to other guys' performances. But in the final analysis many just puke at the thought of Teahen.

Who makes the All Star Game for the Sox?
greg775 replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It'd be nice to see Paulie get rewarded. When we sucked big time earlier this year he continued to say all the right things to the press and has always been first class. But I still think Rios will be the only one. -

Are you crazy? Do you know how long I've been here? I'm not trying to get a rise out of anybody. I think supporting Jenks and Ozzie may be unpopular, but my arguments for them are at least reasonable. I remember supporting Paulie heavily a couple years ago as well and that wasn't popular at the time and it seems to me everybody's back loving Paulie again. I mean I can discuss other topics besides Oz and Jenks if you like. Start a new thread. -
I never thought this team was capable of a significant win streak. Great job except for Liney.

What has been excruciating about his saves? Seems to me he's been pretty damn good. -

I said my apologies if you didn't mean it. I still say when he blows his next save and that is coming one of these days you should all resist the temptation to rip the guy. I mean he's been automatic for some time now. Show some perspective. -

What does that mean? You guys are at the point you want Bob to fail so I look bad? Or was this a joke? If it was, my apologies. I mean Liney is a piece of crap and that's all on KW. Oz has to use the guys who are here. Jenks comes in and faces one batter. The guy is AMAZING. Why can't you see it? -
This win streak...how much credit goes to Ozzie?
greg775 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
And if Peavy had blown it in the ninth you wouldn't have ripped Oz a new one for not taking him out??? My guess is Oz would have been crucified having Jake go nine with the fluid on shoulder. Oz can't win, but he doesn't care. He's making HUGE money. -

Great post, Shakes. How can anybody disagree with what Shakes wrote??? Ozzie is da man. I'm gonna go have a spangles strawberry shake in honor of shakes.
