  1. Why? Most of us said only Rios will make it. We added some other guys who should be considered. But nobody said 5-6 guys should be in. We said Rios will be the only one. As far as Jenks, I don't apologize for listing him as somebody who could or should make it. He's been one of the better closers in baseball and sometimes they take guys on reputation and he's had a great season so far. Just look at all the Red Sox and Yankees who make it on reputation year after year. If you guys want to continue to devalue White Sox players, go ahead. Jenks ranks right up there with the elite closers. He has for years.
  2. I really don't normally dwell on injuries but this is kind of scary. I hope Peavy doesn't suffer some serious injury. He wants to pitch and says he feels fine, but his shoulder has "flared up" and figures to be monitored all season. In today's day and age this really sounds like an injury that should require him to miss a month or so. Hope I'm wrong. It's pretty obvious Jake is a bulldog.
  3. Yeah, Jenks deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Linebrink. My god.
  4. So did a lot of guys suck at the beginning of the year. Some haven't improved.
  5. I'm just saying that with so many snide remarks, like "Mark could pitch in the NL and he sucks in the AL," "Jenks might be able to close in the NL," etc., and all the mockery of the NL makes me wonder why the AL isn't simply beating the piss out of the NL every night. What's the total season series now? Does the AL have five more wins or so? Some make it sound like the NL is as bad as AAA ball. Yet if AL teams played AAA teams wouldn't they win about 80-90 percent of the games? As far as KW and Oz ... being two under .500 with a lineup this s***ty. Somebody is doing something right. This is proof you don't need to go fire everybody. The Royals, who got a little boost immediately after the firing, are back to s***.
  6. Truly. I actually feel unworthy of enjoying the wins since this team pissed me off so much before when it seemed like this team was destined for .400 win percentage. Hope the starting pitching can keep it up. How bout Bobby Jenks!! He's been pretty darn good in this winning streak. Are any of the Jenks haters still unwilling to give him some love? Some of us have admitted we were wrong about Pierre and Rios (last year). But some won't admit they are wrong bout Fat Bobby. Weird.
  7. I know the NL supposedly sucks, but every day I add it up and usually the AL only wins one or two more games per night. If the NL sucks so bad, why isn't the AL winning 75 percent of the games in interleague?
  8. Rios is a lock. Paulie should make it but won't. Jenks should make it and might. Thornton would make it if set up men made it. He won't. The starters were too s***ty for too long a period for any of them to make it. But Danks is our finest starter. Prediction: One and one only: Alex Rios.
  9. Nice job calling for the correct line changes. Nice.
  10. Fluid in the shoulder does not sound good. Isn't it pretty obvious DL is coming? I admire his guttiness, though.
  11. This really is interesting that you mention "will Stone blast Ozzie if he sits?" He should. I am all for promoting this guy, but it's the exact same thing as the Cub. Why bring him up if he's not going to play five games out of every seven??
  12. Two more years of him is so depressing I don't know what to say. I'd send him to Florida and have him take ground balls of all kinds the rest of the year and pay some kid to stand at first base and catch his throws. Anything but reappearing in the dugout. My stance changes if Oz turns him into Nix. Play him once a week. That'd be OK.
  13. Beckham, Floyd, Pierre, Omar is a pretty easy four-some to retire on paper. Hope Juan can stay hot and Omar continue to hit as well as he has of late.
  14. Don't blame you, but I bet if you think about it you might say something nice about the starting pitching of late and ability to finish off games efficiently. It's a start.
  15. Seriously, the return of Teahen is going to be such buzzkill. If we are still playing decent, I'd wish somehow we could say, "who cares what we are paying him? He has to sit!" Playing guys just because they make money (Liney) is so dumb. What good is that if the highly paid player costs you games? He can sit and still earn the cash by not hurting the team.
  16. Is this guy going to go 15-0? Unless he's ready to revolutionize baseball, somebody will eventually beat him up. Maybe game three is the charm?
  17. It seemed like Nix had some tools offensively. I wonder what made him a flop offensively? It's pretty obvious Oz didn't like what he brought to the table. He was a human sieve at third, which didn't help. But wasn't he serviceable at second? I'd think the Royals would sign him or somebody short on second base prospects.
  18. I'm not saying they will compete as I have a hard time believing, but anytime it's less than a 7-game deficit like now, I won't call anybody crazy for thinking the Sox still have a chance.
  19. I did doubt the Sox's ability to sweep anybody, but I also believe in the reverse jinx as you know. Notice I never say anything outlandish predicting wins in a positive way. That said, there is no way our s***ty lineup can hit the rookie phenom tonight. We stand NO CHANCE.
  20. I think a lot of us are cautiously optimistic as we creep closer to .500. But we also wouldn't be shocked (how could we be?) if the team immediately loses 5 of 6 and is back to s***sville. I will say that as OF TODAY I give Kenny and Oz and the pitchers a lot of credit for not giving up. AS OF TODAY.
  21. Gordon Beckham could have easily won rookie of the year last year. He smashed hit after hit, many in the gaps. He was not rushed. I think many of us are wondering the same thing ... will Viciedo play enough to warrant picking up in fantasy?
  22. Juan! I can admit I was wrong. I became a Juan backer after he got the hit against the Cubs (yes we would have been no hit without that base hit; nobody else stood a chance in the ninth) and he continues to prove the doubters like me wrong. In a similar vein ... many of you can't admit you have been similarly WRONG regarding Bobby f***ing Jenks! He remains a prominent closer and yet so many are ready to lynch him after he inevitably blows a game one of these days. Whoever put this when Jenks entered the game in the game thread, it's not funny to me and I don't appreciate what the post stands for: "Alvarez swinging the invisible bat. Jenks time...greg gets his vaseline and tissues ready." That is not appreciated. I am not gay have never been gay. I am a White Sox fan who supports Bobby Jenks! I can't believe some Sox fans hate their own. It baffles me.
  23. I'd say it will remain about the same in both. This team is what it is. It's already made it's personality.
  24. Considering how lousy the batting averages are, it is simply amazing we are four back of .500. This is where we usually nosedive back to eight or so under. Can the team keep creeping upward?
  25. I'd have never believed this team would be sniffing .500. If it reaches .500 the city should hold a parade. I wonder if Kenny is in Pitt because it was publicized this week he hasn't made a road trip yet, to avoid Oz. That again threatened his manhood in this battle of egos. Think that's why he went? He immediately goes on a road trip after articles say he's not been on one cause of Oz.
