Minnesota Twins @ Chicago White Sox, 7:11, CSN
greg775 replied to justBLAZE's topic in 2009 Season in Review
I can't believe how bad a team we've become. Gosh we suck. Unearned runs, no bats, etc. etc. -
At least we can agree the Bears are great. Go Bears!
-
I'm saying it can be written off, because KW is an educated man who would never bring this clown into his clubhouse and also doesn't need the grief of the media who would find story after story of what a clown Bradley is. No baseball teams suspend guys for talking to the media and the Cubs just did it because they can't stand the idea of having Bradley with their team one more day. I don't know KW but I have studied him in interviews. He would never take on this clown. Educated men learn from others' mistakes and he can see what a mistake Bradley would be. I'm still hoping whatever he saw in Rios emerges next year. At least Rios hasn't acted like an ass. I'm sure we'd have heard stories in the media by now if hitless Rios was being a dick.
-
Bradley is the kind of guy who gets GMs fired, just like Jose Guillen should get KC's GM fired. This is a non issue cause KW won't want this clown in our locker room.
-
Come on. Are you serious? Lou Piniella has a great reputation. Lou isn't going to intimidate somebody, anybody, unless they deserve that treatment. And "Bradley hates that." I'm sure some of the Sox hate when Ozzie tells it like it is as well. I thought this thread would be one big bash on Bradley. Instead some would be in favor of it? How can anybody think adding this clubhouse wreck would help our team any? You can polish a turd all you want but a turd will always be a turd. I agree with the poster who said it probably started when his parents named him Milton. I do feel for him for that one.

Keep dreaming. It's not a bad thing. The problem is our hitting is a nightmare.
-
Glad to see him get a start. Maybe our unknown will do what unknowns do to us all the time. At least that's my hope. When's the last time we won a series. We're equal opportunity losers - home and road as far as series.
-
Rios for Zambrano! Just do it. Cubs can dump Soriano/Bradley to some clowns willing to take them.
-
Freddy has been great. No run support unfortunately.

Nice win by Detroit to avoid the disaster. They have some breathing room again at 3 games. Should be interesting to see the hitless wonders play the Twins this week. Hope our bats awaken. -
If Bobby is finished, then why would anybody want him?
-
Hope you are right. Linebrink is god awful and should not be back for any reason. Pena does not thrill me, but maybe it's possible he can get some people out next year.
-
That's why they play four quarters. Bears win. Nice to see the Sox bats build on Saturday's win. What a pathetic offensive effort. KC kicks Detroit's ass; then wins 2 of 3 at the Cell. Sox have not been in the business of winning series for what seems to have been a long time.
-
I don't want to hear about money after the Rios acquisition. I'm just saying you may not like what you see in closer in the post Bobby era. He's been pretty damn good for us. Somebody suggested Tampa wanting him for 2 years. If Tampa would want Bobby, why not us?? Sometimes people don't make sense to me. He's good enough to close for Tampa but not us?

Rongey said Oz and CQ talked before the grand slam. CQ slammed the bat. He wonders what was said between Oz and CQ. I wonder if Oz challenged him to get a hit with men on base or something.
-
Glad to see Peavy show some fire both on the mound getting mad at himself and asking Oz and Coop to leave him in. It seems we never have a player showing emotion. Good to see him show it. Bats wake up late in the game, nice. Glad to see Rios find a hole on his first hit of the game. It was a shot that a foot the other way is another DP. I didn't see his second hit but 2-for-5 is more like it.

Sometimes I think that truly is the case. Other times our players don't thrill me. I would say we have underachieved, though. It seems every year on paper we think we have a great bullpen. -
Just win, baby. When the team is doing well, he's very complimentary of the guys. Guys who deserve praise he gives praise. I can't think of another manager who tells it like it is like Oz. Pinella can be crusty, but he doesn't call out players. Who does besides Oz? He's definitely unique.
-
Doesn't he have 6 blown saves? Is that his worst career blown saves mark? He hasn't been automatic, but he does have some saves. I wonder how many "blown" assignments or equally inept performances guys like Linebrink, Dotel, Pena, Carrasco have. I know Dotel and Linebrink have at least six; Pena probably close to that even though he was a late addition and Carrasco may be great, but he's had a few horses*** outings. If Bob has to go, I hope they give it to Thornton, though that means we'll have another hole in our set up situation. That other lefty we have, I forget his name, is not good. What I'm saying is you may hate Bob for his six blown saves, but it's possible our next closer could make you pull out your hair also.

The odds of us beating Dusty Hughes are not good. Unknown pitcher ... means trouble. Is he related to Dusty Springfield or Dusty Rhodes? Our hitters need to get down n dirty against Dusty.

Sox consider shutting down Floyd and Buehrle

You don't think big Jimmy has helped us dominate the Royals in the past? I miss his big bat, especially tonight. We need that lefty presence. -
I agree. And I love Bobby!
-
I just disagree. The Cubs were 4 or 5 out in the loss column for wildcard earlier this week for godsakes. We'd have been holding a parade if we were 4 or 5 out in the loss column. Sox fans have not given up and we've never gotten it below 6 in loss column. Cubs have had the wildcard for the taking as late as this week. The Cubs had a shot as well.
-
They do and will get more work on the mound after that. Hudson/Nunez will need experience for confidence sake. They got roughed up pretty good by the Royals. How bout John Buck next year as our latest backup catcher?? Me thinks Castro is not good.

The way Flowers waved at those pitches makes me think he might not be ready to bash many hits this year, either. Nunez and Hudson threw up some meatballs as well. Not a good night to be a Sox fan. Guess it's better to simply forget that game happened. It woulda have been a good game to have big Jimmy's bat in the lineup. Wonder if we'll sign him in the offseason.
