  1. That can't be. Jon stinks ya know.
  2. Big deal. Tough guy. Call him that in a bar or on the street, not where the stands separate you from Judy. Are you a Sox fan? The guy is not a No. 1 pitcher or No. 2 but he is good. How you can not admit Garland is a good pitcher is beyond me. How do you know nobody fears any of his pitches? He looked pretty damn good in that 1-hitter. If Garland pitched quicker ALL THE TIME like Mark B, he'd be a total stud. He's not, though. But he is a No. 3 pitcher. We are going to miss him whether you admit it or not.
  3. It seems natural in reacting to one of the biggest sports stories of the year, Sox fans are happy two of their own sluggers, as well as the Big Hurt, appear to have done it the right way. It's not like somebody just decided to praise them for not taking steroids out of the clear blue. It's in response to the Mitchell report.
  4. Is this the same Garland who has had many games in which he has been simply dominant? I mean I hope Danks can be great, I do, but Garland had some hellish starts. We also are going to lose our new ss after one year. How come everybody that says we were going to lose Garland anyway never care that the guy we got figures to leave in a year as well. And I could care less we got cash in the deal for Garland as well. What is KW doing with that cash? Not much of late. I can't believe you'd rather watch Danks than Garland pitch at this point. I sure as hell wouldn't. Does everybody on the board agree with him on that? You'd rather watch Danks start or Garland?
  5. This is what I don't get. You think Jose, Danks and Floyd are going to last many innings? I don't. And even Vas has had the history of getting lit up after five. We need some inning eaters. Also, I don't think many of us would have minded dealing him, but I think we got robbed. We got an old ss whose contract is running out.
  6. My gosh. How can you say that? I guess some never thought of Garland as anything but "Judy." Can any of the Garland haters say they would rather see Jose, Danks or Floyd start in place of Jon? It's a big hit to our rotation.
  7. If we pick up Randy Winn, Clif Floyd, Coco or somebody like that we are the new Baltimore Orioles.
  8. I still don't want him fired. He did bring us the title. I just would like to see him do better now, in the present. I'd prefer kickkenwilliamsinthebutt.com
  9. Congrats Jimmy. You are clean!
  10. Frank ... you should be commended. Congratulations and give him the MVP from the year he got robbed by a Roider. That report is a joke. Obviously more players used steroids than got named. Name em all or name none.
  11. Frank Thomas should be written about by every major publication in the country. He should be the poster boy for what is right about baseball. His agent should get him on every TV show in the land. He would be Barry Bonds in terms of HR numbers had he used steroids. Frank is a hero.
  12. That's the only deal I could think of right now in which KW would be fleeced. Obviously like many said, he'd just move Fields to first base; Crede would play third and Rowand would be the new centerfielder. I could easily see KW making that trade.
  13. I have so little confidence in Kenny's ability to make trades it's ridiculous. I know some of you like the Garland deal because of the money Garland will want when he's a free agent, blah blah. But I just dread what he's going to get in return for Konerko. It scares me what he'll get in return for Paulie. Rowand and two minor leaguers who will never play in the bigs would not surprise me in the least bit.
  14. Sign Prior and trade him to the Angels with Haeger for Garland.
  15. I dunno. I was just horrified to see he's available. I also don't want Cliff Floyd and/or Kenny Lofton. --Has Pods signed with anybody yet? Bring back Scotty Posednik.
  16. Royals decide not to offer Emil Brown contract for 2008 KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Outfielder Emil Brown will be a free agent after the Kansas City Royals announced Wednesday they will not offer him a contract for 2008. Brown, who led Kansas City in RBIs for the past three seasons, became expendable when the Royals signed power-hitting outfielder Jose Guillen to a $36 million, three-year contract earlier this month. The announcement came just hours ahead of the deadline for making such a decision. Brown had a .257 batting average last season, with six home runs and a team-best 62 RBIs in 113 games. With 86 RBIs in 2005 and 81 in 2006, he is the only Royals player other than Carlos Beltran to lead the team in RBIs for three consecutive seasons. Brown signed a one-year, $3.45 million contract prior to last season. Please Sox, just say NO!
  17. Do your pitching and hitting coaches have sound strategies in mind for this upcoming season? Obviously a repeat of last year's hitting philosophy will result in a horribly dull offense. Obviously Coop needs a magic wand to make Danks, Floyd and Jose big league caliber pitchers. With very few changes on our roster, will our assistant coaches step up and lead the way?
  18. Thome and Jenks are right. If our current starters have career years we could be OK. I do sense a crappy year, though. Pretend it's April and May and we're trotting Danks, Floyd and Jose out there 3 of every 5 games. Are any of you really confident we're going to win many of those games, especially with our bullpen?
  19. I agree. Owens isn't that bad. If our veterans want to taste the postseason again, they should lead and kick some ass and make sure Owens and Fields and Richar contribute. We won't do squat if Owens, Richar and Fields suck. We have some stud veterans (though they are all plodders) who if they have huge years can win us some games. If they return to the live ball, we'll be even better shape. Please don't flame on me, remember it's the holiday season, but how bout we sign Josh Fogg as a middle reliever or No. 5 starter. To me, it's a no brainer. Isn't he a free agent?
  20. Why was the reaction on here a joke? Detroit has one of the most fearsome lineups on paper in a long time. You say we aren't going to win next year anyway? Uh ... it was KW's job to tinker and make sure we do win. Any team with Thome, Konerko, Dye, Mark B and Vasquez with Bob Jenks has a nucleus. These are veteran players. Why shouldn't we expect our GM to do his job?? The reaction on here was fine.
  21. I thought this was one of my posts the way you typed it in poem-like fashion. Nice to see somebody else doesn't use the whole line.
  22. I don't get this philosophy. Who says we couldn't get MORE for him than what we got?
  23. I don't mind Kenny speaking up. It doesn't bother me. What bothers me is he gave up Garland. Big inning eater, prettty good pitcher for an old ss. Dumb.
  24. Fields is a pretty damn good prospect. Who is this Maybin guy? Is he a can't miss?
  25. Most of us thought Hall was a good pickup and the only worry was whether he'd play so much it'd piss off AJP. It didn't work out. Hopefully it's because Hall was hurt. I'd still rather have Olivo.
