6/9| White Sox vs Jays | 7:10PM CT | TLR going for #2766
Injury bug is killing the Sox. Frankly I think the Sox have the same team as last year (and it's not their fault cause of injuries). The team will make the playoffs but exit early. That's not to say it's not a good team. But the bullpen has some very unreliable guys, the starting pitching is good not great and the injuries to everyday players are really bad/sad. I like the team; it's easy to rip them after losses and I won't do that. But it's a good team, not great, and I guess they could catch fire in the playoffs but I don't think so. I'll just live day to day with the team and hope Madrigal isn't out a month. I bet they know a lot more tomorrow after sleeping on the hammy.

Student Loan Debt
This is a huge issue. Tons of people worked 3 jobs through college or went to juco and saved up money they earned working at Jewel or a gas station or a steak house, somewhere 50 hours a week. If government just forgave all student loan debt, how fair is that to the people who worked their butts off to make it thru school. I truly wish those with 50,000 to 100,000 dollars or more student loan debt could get it forgiven at the expense of colleges who have charged way too much for many years now. Not sure the solution but the solution is not to forgive debt of some people and not throw some money to the folks who paid off their own huge debts. It's not fair. I know life isn't fair. ...

And that is a Sox beat Jays winner!
Sox looked like a good team (again) tonight. Excellent victory. Easy to take for granted. Lotta stars. Nice job.

2021 Catch-All
Fans get very mad in game threads when things do not go well. A great hitter succeeds three out of 10 times. During the seven failures, game thread fans get quite irate.

Moncada “doesn’t do that anymore…”
No more stealing. Period. Analytics killed the stolen base. Home runs sell tickets. Period.

Sox lead the AL(and most of the NL) in sac bunts
Bunt is a four-letter word for a reason, Tony. No bunting in modern baseball. HRS, K'S are desired. A walk is OK, nothing else.

TLR thread 2.0
In this day and age in which all teams want their hitters to either hit a HR or K or walk only, there is NO NEED to ever bunt. Is it so hard to just have a policy of no bunting? Even Madrigal and Billy H want to hit a HR every at bat, so quit the bunting.

White Sox Win Game 2 of Trap Series!
Not sure why they didn't ask such an obvious question about the starter. It's possible the real beat writers got a Friday night home game off and all the fill in reporters were left to ask the questions. Unlike the old days most news outlets give a beat reporter a game off every now and then. It's possible Tony was facing some rookie fill in reporters. Tony's not going to snap on a second-guessing type question after a victory. Not really a risky question to ask IMO.

White Sox Win Game 2 of Trap Series!
You picked the wrong ballplayer to hate. He's a good hitter, arguably a great hitter, but at worst he's a "good" hitter.

White Sox Win Game 2 of Trap Series!
Jose had a big hit in the ninth, basically assured the win. Yermin shrugged off the 0-for-25 and slugged the single to win it. People freaking out when Sox blew the big lead should have relaxed. Sox still were in good shape one down in the seventh. Guys who had some screw ups made up for them late. Nice win overall.

Vaughn to IL, Sheets up
Is Gavin Sheets a top prospect? Is baseball high on him?

Who are the White Sox Rivals?
Yeah it was called the Boys Benefit game with all proceeds going to charity. It rotated from Wrigley to Comiskey year to year. The teams traditionally tried to win and played their starters, then the last several years it got ruined. GMs pitched their top minor league prosepect to see how he'd do in a full stadium. Only a couple fan favorite starters would play and get one or two at bats. But before that, both teams tried to win the exhibition and it was a big deal.

Who are the White Sox Rivals?
Now that I think about it you are probably right about the Royals. A rivalry like somebody said is when there is a buzz in the crowd and between fans and in the media. Remember when newspapers were a thing and there'd be page after page of Sox versus Cubs stuff? All over the sportscasts on chicago channel 9, 5 and 2? Folks, the Sox only rival is the Cubs even if one has to be cool and say the rivalry does not exist. Look at the all-time results in the series? Very close. Even when it was a once a year exhibition game it was huge until the clubs started to play their minor leaguers in the game. For a while, Sox vs. Cubs midseason exhibition game was a thing in which the guys on the big league roster played the whole game. Cubs Sox rivalry, yes. All other series, no. There may be deep concern for certain series against Central teams but a rivalry? No way. How bout a cheap ticket since they play those teams 19 times a year. Just my take.

Jose Abreu - BAD in high leverage situations
I think charging five to seven bucks a pack or whatever it is (as well as not allowing people to smoke in bars anymore) pretty much stopped smoking in America. Yes you can outprice people. I don't know what chew costs, but it is so gross not too many people outside of ballplayers have that horrific habit IMO.

Who are the White Sox Rivals?
Rivals: Cubs, Royals. During the entire Ned Yost era, the Royals really got up for the Sox, constantly throwing at our hitters and causing trouble. If Sox ever won first two games of a series, the beanballs were coming. It hasn't surfaced with Matheny so the rivalry appears to be cooling. Yost, however, was a pest. He threw at our guys a lot and remember how the Sox rarely responded? BTW, the Cubs are by far the Sox only true, true RIVAL. I would accept it if you tell me the Royals are not a rival, but I think they sort of are. Cubs are definitely a rival.

Jose Abreu - BAD in high leverage situations
He's one of my favorite players ever. He's not perfect but he's darn good. Think of how much worse our fave team would be without him in the lineup every day. Baseball is a tough sport. He could hit .125 in the playoffs and/or WS. Or he could be Mr. October/November. Who the hell knows? A lot of it in baseball is getting hot at the right time. And it sucks if you get cold in the postseason. Enjoy.
