  1. Sorry. Marshall is not useful. DFA candidate NOW! He's a guy you put in when down 6-0 or up 9-0, that's it. Get rid of him, Sox.
  2. Was that Marshall in there? I just turned it on. I do not like Marshall. He's this year's version of Erstad for me. If Tony had Marshall in there, he was conceding the game. Sad.
  3. Crazy thing about Tony controversy ... Sox have such a great record on the field considering a TON of injuries to key players. If he just shut up and stood by his players he'd be the toast of the town (no pun intended).
  4. A Hall of Fame moment in soxtalk history. Congrats on the line.
  5. I personally don't think Tony will ever survive this. He will be remembered as the old guy who threw his own player under the bus and didn't even condemn the other team throwing at his own player. Frankly it's sad and inexcusable that he has been "pro-Minnesota" in all this. Tony should step down over this. Or listen again to his statements about Yermin to be punished within the family and asked if he still stands by that. He's expressed no anger toward the Twins for throwing at Yermin even after baseball suspends the pitcher and manager. This needs one more follow up interview session, Tony being asked about the Twins suspensions. Has he commented yet??? Please step down Tony.
  6. Our church passed new rules. Wat you think of them? I wish it'd open up more. -- We no longer have to sign up to say we're coming. -- We still have to wear masks. -- Still must social distance. -- We can now sing into our masks. No singing before. -- Not much had changed cause we gotta wear masks and gotta social distance (every other pew, three in a pew unless u in same family).
  7. Somebody told u to keep working. Awful. I wish u could sue and win. That supervisor was wrong and out of line. Sad.
  8. Nobody's responding to my comment about a batter actually doing the position player pitcher and the opposing team a favor by trying to hit homers only against position players no matter if it's 3-0 or 3-1. A pitcher could get killed on a smash up the middle on a 45 mph pitch. The uppercut is safe for the pitcher and good for the fans who like HRs. Besides the analysts only want HR or K to be the result on every at bat. So quit changing your minds, baseball. This 3-0 pitch unwritten rule may be the silliest of all. Tony might hit a player with a bat if he bunted to break up a no-hitter. That's such a no-no. ... Also stealing a base when u have a big lead. Tony will lambaste Timmy if he ever does that. ... Best post on here was Dick Allen saying the opponent should walk any hitter that gets the count to 3-0 off a position player pitcher. Put him on base to protect the oh-so-important unwritten rules.
  9. LaRussa needs to watch that Sabathia response. Beautiful stuff.
  10. Tony sure has a passion for this unwritten rule crap. I don't like it.
  11. This is all so dumb. Just call the game off when the team puts a position player on the mound. Cause what Tony is advocating is suddenly not trying I guess out of compassion for the opponent. Weird. Or when a position player comes in to pitch, outlaw 3-0 counts. When it's 3-0, order the count now 3-1. I think that's the best solution yet. A 3-0 count automatically becomes 3-1 when a position player takes the mound.
  12. Tony by the way should have convinced Abreu to sit out after that collision. Sounds like his ankle is screwed up. Hope he didn't rush back too soon and is now screwed cause of it.
  13. I still haven't seen anybody describe what the proper etiquette is. What was the outcome of Mercedes' at bat that would have satisfied the unwritten rulebook? Nobody has said if a basehit or HR on 3-and-1 count woulda been OK.
  14. I have a question. Is the problem re. unwritten rules that Yermin hit it out of the park on a 3-0 pitch? If it's 3-1 is it OK to hit it out? I was just wondering what the hitter is supposed to do according to the unwritten rules. Does anybody know? I'd think drawing a walk would be against the unwritten rules. Pretty lame to not just swing at everything, right? Are you supposed to strike out? Act like a clown and just take wild swings? Maybe that's what the next player batting against a position player should do. Make a mockery of the game and just swing as soon as the pitcher releases the ball or swing after the catcher actually catches it. This gets me more mad the more I think about it. Am I correctly assuming it's OK to bash the 3-1 pitch out of the park but not 3-0 when a position player is in? Frickin absurd. I hope the Sox throw at the Twins tomorrow. Somebody has to be hit in retaliation for this b.s. I'd plunk the guy who hit 3 homers tonight. Why not?
  15. I would love that. ESPN 30 for 30 should do an entire show on Ozzie. I know most of the country wouldn't care to watch, but it could be so well done that it'd be interesting for all. He had Chicago in his hip pocket, coulda probably been manager forever and unofficial Mayor of Rush Street but his ego/mouth whatever u want to call it, ruined his managerial career. I'm glad he's been in the studio for some time now. I don't get the show here. I bet he's entertaining. I've always had trouble understanding him listening to interviews, though, when he starts talking fast.
  16. I made my comment on Tony in the Tony manager thread. Very disappointing the way Tony handled this whole thing with Yermin. Tony should apologize or step down. Sad state of affairs in condoning the Twins bullying the Sox around throwing at Yermin.
  17. I'm a Tony lover but admit this whole thing angers me greatly. Tony cost us the game tonight by not backing Yermin. His comments were a disgrace. So the big, bad Twins throw at Yermin and coincidentally that's the point of the game the Sox folded. It sure looks like Minnie bullied the Sox into that win. It fired up Minnesota and Sox, albeit weakened without Jose, folded. Bad move by Tony in not backing Yermin 100 percent. Tony should have said what Lynn did. People are speaking out against the unwritten rules. Hell, that Tatis commercial we have to watch over and over says to deal with his breaking the unwritten rules. Tony should apologize or be let go over this. Sad stuff.
  18. I was just thinking. The unwritten rules people woulda been happy (sarcasm) if instead of taking an uppercut and homering Yermin hit a shot right up the middle at the pitcher's head. He could kill the fake pitcher without a screen up. BTW what is the hitter supposed to do according to the unwritten rules? Take a walk? Isn't that bush league? Strike out on purpose? Bunt? I really don't know what the hitter is supposed to do up 15-4 with a catcher pitching. Does baseball really want hitters to merely smash singles off mop up position players? or strike out?
  19. Great win. I'm so sick of the unwritten rules. I watched the replay. Look I'm glad Yermin tattooed a homer on a 3-0 pitch up by so many runs off a position player. Don't put in a position player and have him lob it in there. If the Twins want to clear the benches and fight, go ahead. Somebody could get hurt in tomorrow's bench clearing brawl over this??? I hope the commish suspends players a long time if they fight tomorrow. It's silly. Don't lob it in there if you don't want it hit a mile. I'm sure they'll hit Timmy leading off the game tomorrow and/or hit Mercedes. Should be automatic ejection with warnings issued before the game. Stupid unwritten rules. p.s. Baseball hitters only try to hit home runs now. It's HR or K. So Mercedes got the HR. We're going to fight over that? Should he have tried to strike out??
  20. There are people like me who watch FOX News who have gotten the vaccine (me, two shots) and mask up (me). ... It's not good to pat yourself on the back on here, but say what u want about Greg, I like to be EDUCATED. For instance, I listen to Stern every day in the car and Howard is VERY VERY liberal and very much into masks/lockdowns, etc. I don't despise Howard for it. I enjoy listening to all points of view. I do. True I can't take The View anymore and can't take Cuomo's show or Lemon's anymore (just as many of you can't take Hannity or Tucker or the late Rush), but as I told everybody I at least call up the Fox News website AND CNN website every single day a few times a day to see the two different takes on the news. I find the differences remarkable and entertaining. One of our problems in USA in my opinion is so many people REFUSE to consider discussing the other side of the fence. There are intelligent people who also are conservative. I know we can't get along in America anymore, that's long passed, but some of us think that's a BAD thing. I recommend the vaccine.
  21. Yeah I forgot about the breathing issue with the mask. I ended up pulling it down when applicable to get some good ol fashioned gasps of air. ... I wasn't necessarily advocating for masks during flu season, just thinking out loud that since flu has not been discussed it might be popular in the future to mask up. I have done my part in telling a lot of people I had no symptoms after either vaccine shot (knock on wood) and stress NO SYMPTOMS. I am a fan of herd immunity thru vaccination.
  22. If the flu has reduced this much I'm surprised nobody has suggested masks during flu season and social distancing cause the flu is a killer as well. I know a woman who died of the flu after getting dehydrated (a couple years ago) leaving 2 young kids. So fricking sad.
  23. Comeback time. ... Have I ever mentioned I hate the division-weighted schedule? Playing KC 19 times is ridiculous. Teams know each other so well.
  24. Most of the Karens have been scared to death by the "experts" the past 13 months. Now that the experts are saying it's OK to discard the masks and the masks are 100 percent not needed if u are vaccinated, the Karens for some reason have become the experts. They don't want to shed the masks. I know COVID is really bad; I get it. But this all has been handled so poorly. If you are vaxxed you don't need a mask, period. ... Out of all my shake my head in disgust moments during COVID, I'd like to know what the hell happened to the flu bug. Is it gone forever? Were there literally no flu cases/deaths this past winter? Makes u wonder if we've had weird viruses for years now since the flu apparently has been taken care of. Never a word about a case of flu anymore.
  25. That's pretty special. Surely Jose had a headache after the play. Wonder how he feels today. Fierce hit with no padding like in football.
