Steve Stone / Yoan Moncada's "Lack of Effort and Interest"
I trust Stone knows what he's saying in terms of assessing effort. He is among the best analysts in baseball. I would like an explanation from Stoney regarding your point. Moncada OBVIOUSLY is extremely into the game when playing defense. Man, he's ready for those rockets hit at him at 3B. He's right on almost every smash to his left or right. I dunno how he is on slow rollers (I haven't noticed as much yet), but I've been amazed at his "alertness" and "reflexes" at the hot corner. I would assume to make those plays you have to be "into the game."

Steve Stone / Yoan Moncada's "Lack of Effort and Interest"
Stoney should be careful. This all could be COVID related re. Yoan. Otherwise, I credit Stone for voicing an opinion. Most announcers would be fired immediately for calling out a player's effort. The teams have right of refusal on announcers I believe.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Actually Douglas County Ks is probably the most conservative county in the country regarding being "safe" regarding COVID so I am to assume the mask mandate will be kept intact here at least through the summer. Heck, our library still won't let people in there for more than 15 minutes at a time. I have two go-to coffee shops that let you sit in there but most coffee shops/fast food/Starbucks/Duncan Donuts type places only have drive through and my church still is socially distanced seating with limits on total capacity for a Mass/wedding/funeral.

I have three masks in my car as backups. ... I don't want to walk back to my car when I learn the store or church is requiring the mask.

5/14: Kansas City @ Chicago White Sox - Game 1 of DH 2:10 PM CDT
I like hearing about these everyday people in the stands rather than the talking heads on cable TV and those with political agendas. I can see the average Southsider enjoying a brew and dog at a ballgame doing just what yu suggested, laughing. Everyday people rule as far as I'm concerned. ... Let's get 'em in Game Two. Sucks to lose to KC for sure.

I wish we had a cry emoji in that case. Sad sad baseball accident.

It's like the fiercest hit you'll ever see in football with no pads on. Hopefully the bodies just got rattled beyond belief and nothing got broken. Very very sad that Dozier had his head down. PTATC ... Best case scenario is nothing broken and he misses a week or two? and I pray his head is OK, too.

Good stuff! Thank u. Masks soon are a thing of the past (except in packed indoor places which is going to be an annoying exception).

You know what is going to be a hassle? Having to bring your mask just in case the store or church or game you are at will still require masks. I think it's dirty, unsanitary to stuff mine in my pocket so I like to wear it around my neck and pull it up when it's time. It's going to be annoying to carry it around "just in case" this store or restaurant or library or church still requires masking (I know this is all minor, but we entitled Americans have a lot of pet peeves and this could be one).

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
i respect your position. Here's mine. No guilt at all in shedding the mask. We have been told to follow science this whole pandemic. Science says if you are fully vaccinated to take off the mask. Time to take it off. Everybody is saying the fully vaccinated should take off their masks. Time to go back to normal. Each local community's "leaders" who were so power hungry and public in their comments during the early portion of the pandemic should be just as forceful now. Open things up and tell people if they are vaccinated to take off the damn mask. Biden says so. Science says so. p.s. People should encourage their neighbors to get the shots. Those who have no symptoms from the shots like me should spread the word that horrific symptoms are really rare, really rare, just like they are with the flu vaccine, any vaccine. If those people get the shot that only leaves the group that thinks this is a big conspiracy and won't get the shot no matter what. There is a group of people who won't get the shots cause they are merely afraid of symptoms now and down the line from the vaccine. They can be reasoned with with kindness and logic.

What about moderna, greg's choice. Man I must be close to immune cause I got my second shot a week ago. Hope all our restaurants open up soon.

Do the people who take just the first Pfizer or Moderna shot and skip No. 2 have protection from the virus at all? Just curious. I figure if you are going to get the first shot, why the heck wouldn't you complete the deal? Seems strange to commit to just one. You either believe in the shot(s) or you don't.

It's going to take some getting used to, but I welcome the fact Joey said today we can go unmasked as long as we are vaccinated, which I am. I'm looking forward to our library letting people in there and some of the fast food joints/coffee shops where I used to like to go to work on stuff on my computer, open up again. Today is a monumental day. Pres said it's OK to go maskless. We've come a long way. As an aside, I am a little concerned Bill Maher just got COVID despite being fully vaccinated. That's not good. But no more masks is good.

5/13: Minnesota @ Chicago White Sox 1:10 PM CDT
It's going to fluxuate. I didn't say my grade would stand for the whole season. Sure, a .629 win percentage, the best in baseball right now, is an A. The 10-7 road record is nice, too. He got me on the grade. He's right. At this juncture they deserve an A. However I gave the grade prior to the Twins series. I'm not a Sox hater and do not want to portray myself as a hater of the team. I will accept the fact the team deserves an A and Tony now an A-.

That's a White Sox SWEEEEEEP!
I loved when Hamilton made that grab in the outfield and some Twin who hit it was staring out there. I thought, "Stare all you want. You can't intimidate the Sox right now.' The Sox are so much better than the Twins, the Twins will have to shut up. I mean anything's possible, but I like the Sox in head to head matchups with the Central this year. Indians obviously so far look like the one team to 'maybe' give the Sox a game on a given night. ... Say what you want. Tony no matter if haters want to believe it or not, also gives the team some added legitimacy and stability. He's not a clown and RR was a nice guy but definitely not respected as a good manager. I kind of trust Tony to run this club the right way.

He's winning me over after not liking the acquisition. How can you not love the way he plays the game? Speed. Hustle. Smiles. Another win with so many highlights. Many responsible for the win. Great job.

The TLR Manager Thread
I don't know why u are so worked up over this. Sox have a good team and roster and capable manager, that if the team is healthy, will win 2-3 WS titles. Just enjoy it. If you want an A at this stage of the season, fine. If I had gotten a B in Chemistry and/or Geometry and/or Algebra I'd have been a happy camper instead of a rotten student.

The TLR Manager Thread
Fine. B to me is a good grade. If you are that furious I can switch it to A.

The TLR Manager Thread
Hey Kids, that was a joke about how if the Sox lost to the Twins the board reaction and grade from many posters would be a D. That's what I was trying to say. People get pretty upset on here when Sox lose a game, at least in the game threads. It was a joke. I gave the team a B entering last night's game and wouldn't have changed the grade lower had the Sox lost. Sorry for the confusion. I thought I made it pretty clear I am happy with what's going on and I gave Tony a B and the team a B at this early juncture. You just misunderstood my joke or I didn't write it well enough; I'm not trying to be "harsh" on the Sox. I like Tony (cept for his personal transgression) and I like the team. I'm not some hater of the club. Relax and read my last 20 or so posts; I'm not a hater of the Sox, not at all. My grade obviously could change week to week. Look at KC. The Royals were getting A plus marks from everybody in KC and Matheny as well. Now? C at best; likely C minus to D. Stuff changes.

I can be slow. Did u mean Boulevard Brewery in KC? They have tours there and give you a taste. Is Boulevard B founded by a Bro Rice grad or something? p.s. The Bro Rice baseball field is in a weird spot. Do those cars get hit by a ton of foul balls? And do some of the houses across the street even get hit or cars driving by? The parking lot is right there. We had tryouts by position at Br Rice. Third base and SS tried out one day. I knew I was gonna get cut quickly when there were 30 guys lined up at 3B. Geez. We had a lot more students back then.

5/11/21 -Crochet's First ML Win - White Sox 9 Minnesota 3
That pitch hit Jose in a bad spot even though it was offspeed. I bet u he'll have a pretty nasty bruise and has to be considered questionable. You saw it hit him right below the knee I think. It hit a bone which means a bruise. Great win. Lots of heroes again which is always nice. I was glad to see a lot of different guys get big hits. And pitching was good again. Like everybody was saying in the game thread, it's "usually" the Sox imploding vs. the Twins, not vice versa. I loved that double and error that got kicked around a bit in the outfield by Minnie. Also we lit up that one reliever pretty well. They usually do that to the Sox.

Is that a double and an error? I want that to be the shortest triple I've ever seen.
