  1. I want a balanced schedule. More fun. ... Sox bats are great some nights, still not heating up consistently. My guy, Jose, is not quite there yet.
  2. Holy bleep. What a blast. AL MVP for the month of April.
  3. How many coaches did Tony keep off Ricky's staff? McEwing was a coach last year, right?
  4. Leury deserves to be interviewed postgame and dunked with water.
  5. Love me some Vaughn. He really gets the meat part of the bat on the ball. Heavens.
  6. Is he hurt? I missed it.
  7. My bad. I need an attitude adjustment sometimes, too. For some reason I have a negative vibe on Lamb. I need to judge him on what he does in each game and give the guy a break.
  8. Stoney's tweets about the team are the tweets of a reasonable man/fan/announcer. Got to look at the big picture. (I can see why last night's game would bring out the worst in posters, though; it's unbearable to watch your team lose a game when the opponent commits five errors; has anybody looked up whether that's ever happened before?)
  9. Bad losses like last night's are going to happen. I personally am upset whenever I see Lamb's name in the lineup over Vaughn. However the Sox have put together a team that should make the playoffs again this year. This board is full of smart baseball minds who shouldn't live and die with each game, each run scored. The Sox are going to lose a lot of games but still should make the playoffs. I know die-hard fans rarely "enjoy the ride," but they should try. As far as LaRussa, my observation is like most managers, he's going to be ripped after virtually every loss, except the one loss that follows a long winning streak. You can criticize his Sunday lineups without wishing harm to him. It's just a damn game, folks. The only games to completely freak out at are ones in the playoffs like last year when Ricky pulled Dunning after 15 pitches. That was arguably one of the worst decisions in managing history (not hyperbole). It's OK to say Ricky was incompetent based on that decision but not OK to say he deserves bodily harm. It's still just a game. Why can't people think of Randy Quaid in Major League when they start losing it during close games or losses? That character stands up as the crazy baseball fan.
  10. Quite a weird school. Thanx for the paragraph.
  11. Stuff happens. Sox had a lousy game offensively and Tigers were due after losing 4 in a row to KC. Inexcusable to take divisional teams lightly. It'd be nice to beat all bad teams at home, but games like this will happen. If Sox lose to Detroit again tomorrow I hope Tony does remind the guys there is a totally unbalanced schedule and Sox simply have to dominate weaker teams in their own division. I know it's hard to get up for Detroit, et. all, but cmon, play better when the opponent commits five errors. Stuff happens though and tonight was just one of those lousy games. Too many games like tonight and Sox won't be going to the playoffs. Sox can afford to have a few stinkers.
  12. Still waiting for shot No. 2 in a few days. This is very alarming. This school won't hire you if you are vaccinated. What do they know that we don't? I tell you this all scares me. I feel as if I'm irresponsible regarding my own body sometimes in getting both shots. I will do so. I hope I don't regret it some day. I was reading somewhere that 49 percent of Republican men won't get vaccinated. https://www.yahoo.com/news/miami-private-school-centner-academy-233603240.html
  13. I wonder if he stil has the same motion. My arm hurts just to think about it.
  14. Very perceptive post. I agree. There will be an uproar like you say with automation.
  15. I've said for YEARS the umps, who have the power, have purposely made a mockery of the strike zone. It's them throwing an obscene gesture at baseball owners and baseball executives in New York. For some reason umps feel they have long been mis-treated and it's their one way of taking a stand. Look ... a belt high fastball is a strike and umps for years have called anything just above the belt a ball, at least on a fastball. It's one reason guys like Cease have so many walks. Umps are also missing a lot of pitches on the outside corner. Sometimes I give them the benefit of the doubt on those that are just off the corner. They are balls but for some reason it doesn't seem as blatant as not calling the belt high fastball a strike. ... Umps also will not enforce rules on the books designed to speed the game. They just won't do it. I'm not a fan of umps.
  16. That was a nice blast he cannonized in the first inning yesterday. That helped Sox win a game. Obviously as he ages his stats will drop some. He's still a potential terror the rest of this season. He turned on that pitch for the HR. ... Folks, Manny Machado has 3 HRS, 10 RBIs. Jose? Even at .225 he has 17 RBI and 5 HRs.

I tell you and nobody listens to greg that hardly any contracts are "worth" it after a few years max. Look at Manny M. Through 87 at bats he has three homers and 10 RBIs. So what? To this point this season, Yermin has been more valuable. Owners really blew it by paying these big salaries and outpricing the middle class. Does anybody think Hosmer was worth that kind of jack? Laughable. GO SOX.

Nope. No worries at all about KCR. Sox roster is better, way better. I figure Sox will go 12-6 against them this year; if KC is lucky maybe Sox will go 10-8 vs. KC. Royals are going to suffer a long losing streak at some point, 8 to 12 in a row I predict. Sox roster is way better; case closed.
  19. The key is did you respect the cold temps and wear a winter coat? If you pick the wrong coat, you are doomed to a very ice cold experience.
  20. Anytime it says 3 for 3 next to Collins' name, I'm happy. I am hopeful for the guy. Abreu with the nice blast early in the game. Sweet Kopech. Wow. Madrigal is lookin' mighty good. I like. Don't worry, be happy. The team is looking good. Still misses Eloy big picture ... but if Mercedes keeps it up, it kind of nullifies the loss of Eloy. Nice to sweep a team at the Cell. In the past, the Sox don't really sweep hardly anybody. Conclusion: It's nice to have a good team and a good manager. I just don't take each game as seriously as the past (to this point) cause talent will prevail and we have a manager who knows what he's doing. Give Tony the talent and he'll do a nice professional job with it.
  21. Just read this thread. 1.) Watched the Tatis performance against Bauer. Impressive. 2.) It's old news and it's not really worth talking about anymore in how the Sox gave SD Tatis for a rotten pitcher. Unless you are somebody who lives in the past all you can say about the trade is, "it is what it is." Everybody knows. 3.) Baseball marketing. I don't think baseball owners care about attendance as it's a TV money sport, but why is the main fan 57 and older? Younger age groups don't have the money to go to games and baseball now is boring on TV so they don't watch it there, either. Somebody 25 to 35 years old is not going to a baseball game unless their dad surprises them with an outing to the ballpark. Too much $$ for one trip to the ballpark, a trip that includes silly prices for beer and food. It really doesn't matter, but baseball made the decision to outprice the younger fan, so baseball owners can enjoy the TV revenue in a sport with very very little national interest of anybody under 55. I was talking to somebody who has 2 young kids who played at Naperville North. I asked him about Solak last night and he said, "I don't follow baseball until the playoffs." He played baseball his whole life but has no interest now. 4.) I don't get too upset about losing Tatis, only because the Sox still have a team that will probably win 2-3 WS with the current core. "It is what it is."
  22. I think it's been a good game. I'd give it a 7 out of 10, but no higher. Not as great as Stoney/Jason saying, but that's OK. I still love them.
  23. Jose was Yermin-ish last year. Slashing everything off the wall or over the fence.
  24. Can the Sox win, 1-0?
  25. Nice pitch. Glad he took it.
