Nick blew that. Hopefully he learns from the mistake.

Way to go Jose. He's gonna be a terror this summer. He still has bat speed, baby.

Marshall stinks too doesn't he? I'm not a fan at least.

If the Sox lose to Minnie tonight some in the game thread will assess a grade of D, lol.

I think a B is a pretty good grade. Let's see what happens the rest of May. Sox had a very nice series in KC last weekend. I'm not against the Sox or anything. I'm not doing handstands yet. I'm happy. I'm definitely not burying Tony and I'm not showering trophies on him, yet. But yes, I'm still concerned about the DUI. Can't forget that quickly.

Yes. Definitely. Don't think either deserve an A.

Don't get worked up, Kids. It's just my opinion. I know Sox are up near the top of some statistical categories, which is great. But my assessment of the team stands at a B. Cmon. Eloy and Robert has hurt the lineup no matter what the stats say. Pitching at this time looks very good I'll give u that. To sum up, I give the team a B so far; and Tony a B.

The Sox do not have an A team at this point. Far from it. The pitching staff is not A. the lineup is not A right now minus the two studs. I don't think anybody will agree with you the Sox have an A team.

I wish we could all agree that Tony getting that DUI is despicable, but so far this season he deserves a B for his work as manager. Some of you think his lineups suck and his use of the bullpen sucks. His lineup lost Eloy and Robert (you make a great lineup with what's left). Would he get a B from some of you if Grandal batted 9th? Cmon. That's not realistic despite the .120. And the bullpen? Cmon. When guys go 5 innings you are going to have a hodgepodge "mess" the rest of the game. Some nights the relievers do OK, others guys like Marshall and Bummer look like minor leaguers. Hamilton is on the team. Is that Tony's fault? Maybe, but I'd say not. Hahn is here too offering contracts. Cmon folks, Tony has a lot of work to do socially to make up for the DUI mess. As a manager this year, cmon he gets a B from me. What would you all give him? D? That's silly.

Madrigal.
I noted on one of his at bats Sunday that KC centerfielder was sooooo shallow it had to be somewhat embarrassing for Madrigal. I kind of like the guy but I agree he'll need to smash some liners over the heads of outfielders to keep 'em honest at least a tad. I do like Madrigal so far.

Great point. I may be a pollyanna regarding this issue, but I actually would have been OK keeping Ricky. I just didn't like what he did pulling Dunning so soon in the high-leverage game. I was so mad I didn't mind him getting canned. Also fans here convinced me he was not all that. As far as RR, I always thought it 'kind of' unfair he got axed without being allowed to see the rebuild through. I think he probably did not deserve to get the boot except for the Dunning disaster. I think it's too early to be enraged about LaRussa but that's just me. I probably should shut up now as I don't have a lot of evidence to back my opinions on the managerial issue. I just know at this juncture I'm OK with LaRussa. Ultimately I could be wrong and if he is a horrible postseason manager I will look dumb in my support.

The TLR Manager Thread
You deserve an answer because of your intensity. All I can say as a LaRussa supporter is, "I don't know (what he has done well)." I just think it's very early in the season and despite mega injuries the Sox have a good/pretty excellent record. It's a cop out to just look at the record, but it's also not a cop out as a Sox fan to say I don't dislike the job LaRussa has done so far. I know as somebody with concerns this answer probably would frustrate you. As a fan I go by the eye test a lot and I see a banged-up team doing just fine. He's the manager of this banged-up team with a not so bad record, so I don't despise his work.

You really think Tony is that bad? I just don't see it. His parade of relievers is kind of common when starters only can go five or so. The more relievers you use the more likely somebody will not have good stuff. Sometimes fans and posters want starters taken out way too early. Cmon, they should be able to go five or six ... taking a guy out in the fourth is dumb even by today's standards of not going deep into games. The lineup? Doesn't modern analytics show the batting order doesn't really matter in terms of runs scored and production? I mean yeah Grandal probably should be hitting ninth but we also have sone other lousy hitters. Playing Hamilton shouldn't ALL be on Tony. He's on the roster and Hahn has a say in that. I'm no Tony worshiper but I don't think he's a clown like Ricky could be. Does the evidence indicate Tony reeks? I don't think so.

Sox sweep KC; winners thread
I thought we did winners threads and didn't see one so I started it for good luck, figuring we as a board forgot the 'that's a winner' thread.

I think Tony knows what he's doing. Call me stupid, but I'm satisfied with this record so far. Big picture, baby. Team has been banged up and is doing just fine record wise.

2021 Catch-All
Catch all thread item ... Say what you want, Elon Musk was good last night on SNL. He was in a plethora of sketches and they were moderately funny. In my humble opinion, SNL is only funny when the sketches are sort of weird/bizarre. The political stuff is kind of unnecessary/dumb/partisan. But last night there were some weird sketches with good writing/dialogue. You can find most of the sketches with Musk online. I challenge you to watch them and say he's not a decent actor. I'd give the episode a B to B-minus. Usually they are C to C-minus to D. I like when Miley Cyrus performs as well. Most of the music on SNL is not my cup of tea. I think she is talented and I like her offerings generally.

"Outstanding Heart, Outstanding Spirit" (New White Sox motto)
I don't know how much heart and spirit they showed this series. It was kind of a butt whipping basically. Jump on em early and bring it home for the easy W.

Grandal Vs. McCann
Grandal is bound to start hitting. When he does, it will really help this team. I wouldn't stress about him too much.

Sox sweep KC; winners thread
This is why I don't freak out about the Sox this year. Even with injuries, the team is built to win. It will take monumental bad luck the rest of the way to not be in the race all season. Great win again today. Jumped on KC again and again made the lead hold up. Glad to see Mercedes and Abreu get 2 hits apiece; good pitching. Moncada quietly has become a vaccuum at 3B. He can field. Keep winning, Sox. I think the team despite the injuries is in good shape for the long haul barring more injuries. GO SOX! Mop up those Royals as much as humanly possible please.

5/9 Chicago White Sox @ Kansas City Royals 1:10 PM CDT
That 'might' have been the close call of the game. If Perez hits the pitch another couple feet it's a home run. Instead you are out, Perez and Sox keep big lead.

5/9 Chicago White Sox @ Kansas City Royals 1:10 PM CDT
Great to see the Royals not throw the runner out at the plate on Mercedes hit. He would have been out by a mile or not sent if Gordon was out there in LF. Good game (so far, anti jinx). Got to love Mercedes.

5/8/21 And That's A White Sox Can of Whup Ass
I'm posting just to keep the winners thread relevant. We have to not take wins for granted. I listened to first inning on radio and watched innings 5-9 on TV. Great win. The Royals announcers were impressed with Sox ability to hit with two strikes and to not rely on home runs. I think a lot of people are noticing the HR or K mentality in baseball today and like to point it out when guys are stroking the ball oppo field for singles once in a while. I was hoping Jose A would homer in the first in his second at bat to make it an 11-run inning. Nice win Sox.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Sweet. I do like coffee a lot. My pet peeve is it must be hot, hot hot. I actually like cold beer, too, though I've given it up at various junctures and am currently in such a spell. Once COVID hit, I was upset at the status of the world and decided no harm in having a couple beers a week. So after the third attempt at buying some Miller Light and the third time the store didn't have any (WTH?) I took that as a sign and went back on no drinking hiatus.
