  1. Good thread. I love the posts. Random thoughts ... a.) when i'm in a normal optimistic mood: We're all going to be OK. The weather is going to be warm/hot soon and most people I know NEVER get sick in the summer. Does the heat help burn away the germs? I don't know. I'm hoping yes. Also the USA hasn;'t been hit with many cases. I'm thinking business as usual and don't worry be happy. b.) when I read the Websites at night and get "informed." Well Italy today shut everything down. No events with crowds, etc. This is bothersome. I wonder if it's necessary to do this, then I wonder if yes it is necessary that we in the USA are going to be shut down soon. I have 8 rolls of TP so I haven't checked the stores here yet to see if the shelves are void of toilet paper, etc. I wonder in a pessimistic mood if the upcoming NCAA Tournament and all those full arenas for 3 weeks won't REALLY infect a ton of people. And MLB is generally outdoors so will the outdoor air help keep the disease in the atmosphere and not in our bodies? I worry about things that are fun being canceled: church, sporting events, concerts, summerfests, movies, etc? When I'm feeling optimistic and read that several countries are quarantining all people when they arrive via plane for 14 days? It's hmmmm. 14 days? My overall mood is don't worry, be happy. Don't panic. When I catch up on the news at night, my mood is "hmmm ... if Italy thinks this is so serious ... are we doomed soon in the USA?"
  2. Has anybody written a story on McCann yet this spring? Seems obvious to see if he's OK with his new role.
  3. oops, Is Robert ready for the bigs? Cool.
  4. I think we have to finish 18 above .500 or the season is a failure. I mean cmon. I know the Central Division teams always play us tough, but we have all these stars on our team. We have some of the most electric younger players in baseball in Moncada, Timmy, Madrigal and Eloy and the new RFielder I forget his name. We have EE and Abreu who are name players. We have Grandal who is one of the best choices you could have at catcher with McCann. And we have all these young arms to go with Keuchel and Gio. Cmon. I am being nice in demanding 18 over .500. I have a feeling they are gonna have to fire RR in May, late May if we STILL are sub .500 club.
  5. I don't know. I'm so skeptical about governments these days and everything the only person I trust about this is Caulfield. It doesn't seem like this is that big a problem (yet?). Kansas has no cases. I think Kansas City has no cases. There are not many in other states.
  6. Seriously, what do you do if you have no food hanging around the apartment? I guess if it hits here, if there are a couple cases reported, I better stock up on something.
  7. You sound very concerned Caulfield. Here, as somebody stated there is utter calm as if we have no problem. Which is it? Hundreds of thousands to be quarantined soon or nobody? Take care sir.
  8. damn. caulfield you should contact CNN and/or NY Times about writing a daily diary/video diary for them. Make some money.
  9. Hang in there, Caulfield. You have friends in Internet land praying for u and your and/or sending u best wishes. Are u running out of $$? Take care sir.
  10. Caulfield I still don't understand why everything is shut down. I mean here in the US we have flu season. A TON of people catch the flu and people with demanding jobs still have to work (and infect everybody). We seem to get through it and in the summer it burns away so to speak. You said businesses are going to fold there? The school can't pay you? What is going on? I see Italy is very paranoid about this if it's the right word. Tell us more Caulfield. How do people eat? I would guess the stores are closed and/or out of goods. Is it illegal to leave your house? Peace brother.
  11. Delmonico sticking around?
  12. I rarely say I told you so, but I feel so strongly about Abreu being worth all the money he gets. Watch that video folks. Abreu rocks. I'm glad he makes a ton of money.

I'm upset, very upset that our current insurance providers fricking will not pay 100 percent of our expensive medical costs. For instance one serious illness/hospital stay can cost you so much money. Let's say the bill is 80,000 bucks. You'll be lucky if insurance pays 20,000. That's why I ask about possibly voting for somebody with universal health care/free!! I am upset at pharm costs for drugs and the fact insurance companies are rotten to the core in not paying 100 percent of our medical costs.
  14. thanx, much needed advice. thank u

I have enjoyed ptatc's posts on healthcare. Even though I'm fed up with fees that insurance companies reject, I have often wondered if the government run healthcare would be a disasger and ptatc indicates it will be. This is what I want to hear from politicians. Does anybody really trust that the government can run medicare for all? Health care for all for free? My guess is it will be a fricking disaster. Politicians ought to just say that. As much as "liberal" people want free healthcare, odds are it will be run so poorly it will harm our country. Just say it, politicians. Our government will not run healthcare efficiently.
  16. Her ongoing expenses will be ongoing. Cept for SS she will need to feed herself daily, and pay rent monthly unless she buys a house and pays cash.

I agree. This is the only reason I'm tempted to vote for a candidate who will have government run medical care. Do I think the government system will be effective? Hell no. I do not. But I am so pissed at insurance companies for a.) inflating prices for meds and hospital stays/treatements and b.) declining procedures aftre the fact that yes I want it FREE and want it from Bernie. The insurance companies have forced me to this stage. Also after paying into SS for years I want that money someday and don't want the system to be scrapped and me out of luck. Yes I'm upset.
  18. Maybe it's an easy role but I think Nicholson's work in 3 movies shows his greatness: The "you can't handle the truth" movie he is insanely brilliant; the movie Kukoo's Nest he is insanely brilliant and the movie with Shirley McLaine where McLaine's daughter dies of cancer he is supurb. I just think Streep is outstanding on the women's side. p.s. Office Space was on TV last night and I had to watch. Dammit what a movie!
  19. I have a relative whose net worth is close to $1 million after inheriting money after both parents' deaths. She has no dependents and her husband is dead. She is close to retirement age. Question: What do she do with that kind of money when she'll need to start spending some of it during retirement years? She currently is working. Is 900,000 to 1 mill enough to live on combined with social security payments that can start whenever she wishes between 62 and 65? I know nothing about money so thought I'd ask you kind folks.
  20. Movies ... who is the best male actor and female actor of all time? Male: Jack Nicholson. Female: Meryl Streep.

Nah, the buster should not return. No Filibuster means less people getting put on vacation on here. There were too many assumptions made about people when discussing controversial issues in the buster. As somebody who went against more liberal opinions on matters 90 percent of the time, I got accused of many bad character traits when nobody had the right to judge me off opinions on a message board. As far as jobs ... allegedly unemployment is down and there should be some good jobs out there to be had.
  22. Is that cause of the surgery? I tell you, surgery is so common now that if Baseball America says he's a 3 because of arm surgery, then there will be a lot of projected 3 4 and 5s in baseball, cause it seems all young starters have surgery.
  23. Thank goodness on the three batter rule. A small positive step for fan-kind. I despise pitchers coming in for one batter.
  24. If baseball allows teams to pick their opponents, that's fine. But it's pretty radical so they might as well implement a lotta other new rules as well. If that breaks the ice, start new rules to speed up games. Got to have a clock on pitchers and make it a quick clock. Make them throw the ball in a timely (fast) manner. Also fix the strike zone and move it up over the belt which is an insult at the present time. Also have a 2 batter limit for each reliever. Also outlaw managers coming to the mound to talk to pitchers and limit the number of times catchers can walk even halfway to the mound. Speed up the fricking games. Also let's say a game goes 4 hours which is common but ridiculous. Have each team be penalized somehow for this happening. Maybe put a run on the board for the opposing team in the next series. If the opposing team also went over 4 hours in a recent game, they give up a run as well. My point it if baseball playoff team can pick an opponent, no other rule change is too radical. Oh yes and outlaw shifts somehow.
  25. I don't know why we'd want Puig after acquiring that young RF'er Mazara. If we got Puig I'd think we'd trade Mazara or send him to minors. I guess we'd have some excess bodies if we get the Cuban outfield superstar candidate Colas and Puig. Maybe we'd trade EE or Jose or Puig for another very good starting pitcher.
