  1. I endorse this post.
  2. Balta has stats that prove when his contract runs out he's a replacement level player. Basically worthless. Considering other teams study new wave stats as well, you are getting NOTHING for him via trade. He can't hit a fastball anymore. So why would anybody want him? Let his contract run out and sign him to a deal way below 3-4 years at 15 million per year. Again ... are the Sox the only smart team? If Sox fans have deduced he's turning into crap think other teams are going to offer anything but Trayce/Engle type prospects?? They study the same stats. Yes I feel he's daily being dogged on in this thread.
  3. Holy Toledo. Hillary Clinton is back. She's still a popular choice to run in 2020. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2018/06/27/democrat-2020-field-poll/740370002/
  4. I think his post was mocking me for praising you so much and wanting your opinion.
  5. And if you have noticed all of this, new-wave general managers know this all as well and Jose is effectively done. So why not let his contract run out and try to sign him for 5-10 million a year? If he's rapidly becoming as you say a "replacement level hitter" then what's the big deal. If you trade him you are only getting organizational fodder, lousy prospects. Let the contract run out and sign him for scraps. It's not that complicated. Again ... you looked up the facts/stats. Other teams haven't?? They know he's a replacement level hitter so they will offer the Sox 2-3 stiffs to acquire him at best. For some reason you guys don't just want to let his contract run out.
  6. So you guys are proving me right. I said only a few guys on the Sox could have had a better four year run. I've read you guys mention a few guys which is what I said. I give up. Abreu has joined the ranks of a guy Sox fans, at least on this board, don't want around any more. They don't want him to share in the fun when we get good even though he's contributed so much to the horseshit teams. Nobody will just let his contract run out and see what happens they want him gone cause he would need a new contract to fit our competitive window. Nobody wants that except a few of us, so bye bye Jose. Many of you are OK pretty much giving him away cause of his age, get him out of here. Considering he's only worth scraps, why trade him at all? Let his contract run out and see what happens. So what if he's one guy, who just walks in free agency. Nobody's going to offer him much if it's true he's finished. Considering what you all are reporting on his decline and imminent decline, he could be signed for a reasonable contract.
  7. I encourage everybody to read that story. This is what I'm talking about. I mean person breaks her foot, it's $110,000. The baby goes to hospital and they do nothing for the baby except say the baby is OK and it's $20,000. Our healthcare is a scam and there's nothing we can do. Nobody in government cares. This is an outrage. I wonder if the politicians and their families don't have these problems when they or their relatives go to the hospital. There have to be some scandals out there because even politicians could be wiped out by a simple 3-day hospital stay. Is anybody else concerned about this or do you all have money to burn? Major purchases in life - cars, hospitals, boats, vacation homes are considered a big deal. A hospital stay, albeit a short one, has become a major deal. All because of rejected charges by the insurance companies if you happen to have insurance.
  8. That is true. He's definitely not loafing and cares about the team and his craft. I bet Coop has helped him though and he probably doesn't ever wanna leave Chicago since he's figured something out likely with Coop's help I'd imagine.
  9. I won't change my opinion. I dislike Trump and feel he's very evil. But I have to be selfish here. I want him to succeed if it means I'm not homeless someday. Democrats and Republicans alike don't care about the middle class and poor. Social security is dying; medicare/medicaid is dying and of course health care is the biggest scam ever and is preparing to bankrupt all Americans in the middle to poor class.
  10. You wait. He won't run. He'll either be long gone via impeachment or just decide he's ready to count his money and golf every day.
  11. Damn I forgot Paulie. I worshiped him.
  12. Frank's one of my favorite Sox of all time. But for a four-year stretch, I bet u only Frank, and maybe Robin and Baines had as consistently productive a four-year span (when you use regular stats BA, HR, RBI.
  13. Glad to see the Sox playing better after the 8 game losing streak. Tilson is hitting over .290. Good to see Avi mash the HR. Moncada's defense. Shields has had some stinkers that would prevent him from bringing back anything useful but if the Sox want to dump him, I will concede some team that needs a No. 5 might take him. He's to the point he appears to have a chance at helping somebody that needs one back of the rotation starter badly. No way a GM will give up much for him, but somebody might take him off the Sox hands after yet another good outing from him. I would not go there if I was a GM because this all might be Coop related. You bring Shields in without Coop and he could cost you games if you are a contender. Nice win, though Minaya should be DFAed or sent down. No need to see him again.
  14. With his ego, all he's got to do is wait and find out who the leading Democratic contender is and if he's told it's obvious he doesn't stand a chance, he won't run again IMO. Now if the experts tell him it's 50/50 and he has a chance, damn.
  15. I said one of the best 4 year runs. Frank obviously would be in there. Who else? Maybe Robin. Baines.
  16. Not a bad post. You don't want America to fail so in my mind that's good.
  17. Not a bad answer. Not bad at all. But generally speaking ... let's say under his regime we have unprecedented economic success. Do you want him to succeed in that regard? For general prosperity of the USA? Or do you want a recession/depression so he gets blamed and ousted? I'm saying I want the prosperity but still would want him out after 4 years for Bernie cause his stance on health care won't be changing.
  18. Sorry Hurt, I feel your pain and wonder how you are getting by without health insurance. I tell you, this double crossing B.S. regarding health care is why I've given up. I want Bernie and want him now to make it free for all. Health care has jumped the shark. Even if you have coverage, good luck not going in the poorhouse. For instance, I'd love to hear from folks whose wives have just had a baby. For those of you with good plans, tell me how much you paid out of pocket for said baby. Years ago, you were covered; baby is basically free, full 100 percent coverage. Now? Good luck. Also lets say a boomer who is living check to check has coverage at work yet he gets a condition that keeps him hospitalized 3 weeks and out of work 3 months. Hmmm, will boomer and his family have to hit the streets?
  19. Of course they are. No way Kim Jong Un has become a reasonable guy. He knows Trump has such a huge ego he can shake hands and say he's committed to denuclearization and would believe him. Rich guys' egos can be stroked and Kim fooled him big time. The question is ... when this rich guy figures it out, will he be so mad/vindictive he blows up Kim's nuclear plants? This is still a powerderkeg and nuclear war is still 50/50 with NK. Unless China tells em to behave IMO.
  20. His traditional stats probably are one of the best 4-year runs in Sox history, maybe THE best. BA, HR, RBI over a 4-year span. Granted his glove is pretty weak but what the heck. Our team blows defensively.
  21. Thanks pt. Sounds like he'll be fine w/out surgery.
  22. So Balta, will you go on the record saying you wish Trump to fail? I think that's sort of un-American if that's your answer. At least Greg answers questions the best he can directly. A lot of you guys hit me with one liners, win the current argument, and we wait for the next one. I wish more people would post on here. I think a lot of people understand my sentiments but stifle.
  23. I don't think people read my posts. What more can I say negative regarding Trump? If I'm not mistaken I call him "evil" a lot and a "jerk" a lot. I don't want to cuss on here if I can avoid it. I also have advocated for him getting impeached and stand by my prediction he won't finish his term. Not bad for a Republican. Not many of us comment negatively against "one of their own" like that. I don't see u guys blasting Demos, even that woman who suggested roughing up Trump supporters, "pushing back." I see no criticism of her. Sorry I forget her name and am too lazy to look it up here at Panera. I guess I'm wasting my wrists typing. Either nobody reads it or nobody believes it. The one positive thing I say about Trump is I want him to succeed. I guess that stance makes u guys mad. Cause it'd help me and millions of others stay off the streets. Homeless. ... I don't hear any of you offering to take me in if health care costs send me to the poorhouse someday. As far as Sarah S. I don't like her handling of the press conferences, however, the format probably needs to change. Like the TV shows I won't watch, it's people yelling yelling yelling over each other. She gets condescending in trying to move on. I am uncomfortable watching them and frankly don't care what SS has to say. If Trumpie can't be the guy fielding the questions I see no value in her speaking for him. I don't think you can judge her off those conferences. I've heard nothing that suggests anything but her being a very nice person, a good mom and a credit to society.
  24. Wow we won last night? Cool. I can't ever remember not knowing if the Sox won or lost on a given day the past many many years. I turned it off last night with us up one and didn't feel so confident. Nice to beat the Twins in the rain.
  25. I feel sorry for the guy. Damn. More pitcher injuries. I agree if he needs surgery, do it ASAP, but PTATC can fill us in. I trust him completely.
