  1. North Korea copied Russia and figured out Trump that he could be played a fool. Just stroke his ego and continue to build an arsenal behind his back. Trump has had yes men and women stroking his ego for decades. Korea figured it out.

People never talk about his attitude. Whether it's good or not.
  3. Does Covey have tired arm? He was pathetic. Batting practice. Davidson? WOW! Team as expected is back in the dumpster after winning 2-3 in a row. I'd expect 8 game losing streak again or more. We ain't beating Texas a game this series for starters. Bet big.
  4. Good post. We should discuss these things. I think people have always hated people except in times of crisis. Let's face it, they call it your own "family" for a reason. The world should be one big family. It isn't. My pet peeve is those commercials for car companies or diamond stores (big on KC talk radio) that say, "Come here where we treat you like family because our customers are family." I go to the library a lot and see homeless individuals. I should talk to those individuals and always give them money. I rarely talk to those individuals and rarely give money to them. I did not speak to the guy wearing the dress in the Subway which many of you consider evil. I can improve and I feel we all can improve. We are not one big family in America. Our politics makes us want to punch people on the other side. We backstab each other at work. We are afraid to let our kids communicate with anybody outside our immediate family lest they get kidnapped. We argue with our kids' coaches and umpires of their games. Many of us are jerks to people outside our immediate family. Lack of civility is one reason I enjoy my 2 hours at church every week (I should go more but I am busy even though it seems like post so much I can't be busy). It's one piece of time nobody wants anything from you and peeps are friendly. There is no solution because so many people despise those who believe in God. I feel God is the answer in part but most people would mock me for that statement. Bill Maher would humiliate me. I'm glad caulfield is trying.
  5. I may have to change to Democrat then. Hopefully the Millenials will take care of this and get in the people who want to give us all free stuff. I tried the other way. I'm fed up with the corruption in SS and health care and cuts cuts cuts that hurt the middle class and poor. The way I see it is they had their chance the old way. Now it's give me stuff and give it to me ASAP. Too many crooks out there taking advantage of me and millions of other folks who just want to live a good life.
  6. I care about Puerto Rico. I care about anybody suffering whether you believe it or not. There's this perception Greg needs to post on every topic equally. I still am hesitant to start threads cause people get mad and say it should not be a new thread. I had buddies drive boats down to Houston when the hurricane flooded all the streets and supported them. I care about the suffering of families at the border. I care about the people of Puerto Rico. I can't imagine being without power for so long and water. I don't know how to answer the charge of "glossing over" Puerto Rico. I think it's impossible to post equally on all topics that happen. I'm also depressed over the fires when they hit and the volcanic lava ruining homes and endangering lives in Hawaii. If you pay me a salary I'll sit here and comment equally on everything that happens in the US and all over the world.

It's hard to judge players when we fans know little to nothing about their psyche. How much they want it. The eye test tells me Moncada will be great on offense and defense. He needs to work though. His hitting from the one side needs work/improvement.
  8. I did enjoy reading one of the employees was on TV saying the building has absolutely no security. I'm assuming he was pissed at the parent company for not having better security. Good for him. America has jumped the shark. We all hate each other. We all have easy access to guns. We have millions of people who have been on medication forever, we have angry people who have nothing to lose so they shoot kids and people in churches, newsrooms, wherever. It's too bad. Interesting this happened so soon after Sanders was kicked out of the restaurant. We all despise each other except after tornadoes and hurricanes. Then we respond in niceness. Bizarre country.
  9. He got his wish. This is pretty sick.
  10. Good point on Oprah, Richie. If she runs she gets the nomination, period! If Oprah is going to run, I bet TMZ.com could find out. Talk to people around her and see if she's taking a lot of world history classes and studying world affairs and the globe. Does Oprah know all this stuff? Almost everybody I know is a dunce toward world history and the map. If Oprah is an expert already on those things, more power to her. I confess I did forget about Oprah. I'd say if Hickenlooper, McAuliffe, Bullock and Cuomo are the leading candidates, Oprah will run and run away with the nomination. If Biden, Hillary or Bernie run, Oprah would stay on the sidelines. She is not going to run for the nomination against Hillary or Biden for gosh sakes. maybe she'd run against Bernie.
  11. Girardi is our next manager if we are serious about hard nosed baseball and winning baseball. If we want to take our chances with a nice guy manager we either keep RR or hire Omar Vizquel. Omar might be OK.
  12. Ricky blows but he seems like a very nice guy and obviously he's helping the young guys from other countries on our team. It probably does take a certain kind of guy to get along with Coop. We have to remember Coop is sort of like assistant manager. He runs the all important pitching staff and is a very crabby guy.
  13. That's pretty sad. Woulda been nice if Moncada coulda won it in the ninth. Sox have been playing well since the 8 game streak. This will probably start another bad losing streak. Gio looking good I assume? I didn't watch it but watched the highlights and he had a no-no for a long while.
  14. I really don't think people want to hear long responses from me, so I'll try to keep it short but you guys make it difficult peppering me with questions. a.) I don't say stats and information be damned, but I also don't think Balta's stat guarantees Abreu soon will be a replacement level stiff. I still go by emotion and I say part of his possible decline is and will be playing for such a hopeless team/organization. It has to be difficult excelling day in and out playing for a yearly loser. b.) In regards to your third paragraph, you say I want the front office to make an irrational decision based on my fandom. Geez. Quite a take by you. An irrational decision?? How dare you. Let's see what my irrational decision regarding Abreu is: to let his contract run out and to actually let him become a free agent instead of "flipping him" at the break this year for what all of you agree will be a horsecrap return! It's irrational to let his contract run out, then join the rest of the teams in assesssing his value and trying to sign him if the front office deems it's not too much money for projected production?? So if we are just accepting Balta's observation as 100 percent fact and indicator of Abreu's future, please get his post to all the sportswriters; please send to Hahn via email now. They WILL WANT this information if it is correct. Yes I base my decision on keeping him because as a fan I WANT HIM TO BE ON THE WS teams. Guess what? His intangibles will HELP US WIN. He is beloved by the players and can help them and relate to them. I will not apologize for being a fan that wants him on the team. He will have his usual great numbers before this year is over unless he succumbs to all the losing. I can't believe I have to defend Abreu so much. The man is an all star! Geez. It's not like I'm wasting your time saying this about Engle or Trayce Thompson or Narvaez or some stiff. THIS IS ABREU!
  15. I guess just cause I'm a fan and he's one of my favorite players and I want him to be on our WS teams. Just fan related stuff. On another Jose topic, let's say you are just a fan like me. Don't even consider trading him. Let his contract simply run out and then let him be a free agent and see what happens. You don't have to trade every player out of fear you can't sign him, especially a team with as many prospects as we have. Then he's a free agent. If he really is becoming worthless, you sign him to a 3-year deal at 8 mill a year or something. No big deal. Fans like me have their hero around and we win WS with him enjoying it as well as the young studs. Now lets say you are a stat guy who has deduced he can't hit a fastball and is about done and certainly not worthy of being on a WS team. Let the contract run out also. Why trade him? Other teams aren't going to offer anything but crap. Then he's a free agent, either sign him out of mercy for bargain money or let him walk. What's the big deal? The common denominator is keep him. There's absolutely no reason to trade the guy whether you are a.) an unabashed fan not wanting to hear he's declining or b.) a guy who has checked the facts, figures and deduced he's replacement player level. What is so hard to understand about my arguments?
  16. I don't know what he's worth in trade. I don't want to find out. I want him to be an integral cog in the WS teams.
  17. I don't trust the advanced stats he cited. I think he can hit a fastball.
  18. I endorse this post.
  19. Balta has stats that prove when his contract runs out he's a replacement level player. Basically worthless. Considering other teams study new wave stats as well, you are getting NOTHING for him via trade. He can't hit a fastball anymore. So why would anybody want him? Let his contract run out and sign him to a deal way below 3-4 years at 15 million per year. Again ... are the Sox the only smart team? If Sox fans have deduced he's turning into crap think other teams are going to offer anything but Trayce/Engle type prospects?? They study the same stats. Yes I feel he's daily being dogged on in this thread.
  20. Holy Toledo. Hillary Clinton is back. She's still a popular choice to run in 2020. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2018/06/27/democrat-2020-field-poll/740370002/
  21. I think his post was mocking me for praising you so much and wanting your opinion.
  22. And if you have noticed all of this, new-wave general managers know this all as well and Jose is effectively done. So why not let his contract run out and try to sign him for 5-10 million a year? If he's rapidly becoming as you say a "replacement level hitter" then what's the big deal. If you trade him you are only getting organizational fodder, lousy prospects. Let the contract run out and sign him for scraps. It's not that complicated. Again ... you looked up the facts/stats. Other teams haven't?? They know he's a replacement level hitter so they will offer the Sox 2-3 stiffs to acquire him at best. For some reason you guys don't just want to let his contract run out.
  23. So you guys are proving me right. I said only a few guys on the Sox could have had a better four year run. I've read you guys mention a few guys which is what I said. I give up. Abreu has joined the ranks of a guy Sox fans, at least on this board, don't want around any more. They don't want him to share in the fun when we get good even though he's contributed so much to the horseshit teams. Nobody will just let his contract run out and see what happens they want him gone cause he would need a new contract to fit our competitive window. Nobody wants that except a few of us, so bye bye Jose. Many of you are OK pretty much giving him away cause of his age, get him out of here. Considering he's only worth scraps, why trade him at all? Let his contract run out and see what happens. So what if he's one guy, who just walks in free agency. Nobody's going to offer him much if it's true he's finished. Considering what you all are reporting on his decline and imminent decline, he could be signed for a reasonable contract.
  24. I encourage everybody to read that story. This is what I'm talking about. I mean person breaks her foot, it's $110,000. The baby goes to hospital and they do nothing for the baby except say the baby is OK and it's $20,000. Our healthcare is a scam and there's nothing we can do. Nobody in government cares. This is an outrage. I wonder if the politicians and their families don't have these problems when they or their relatives go to the hospital. There have to be some scandals out there because even politicians could be wiped out by a simple 3-day hospital stay. Is anybody else concerned about this or do you all have money to burn? Major purchases in life - cars, hospitals, boats, vacation homes are considered a big deal. A hospital stay, albeit a short one, has become a major deal. All because of rejected charges by the insurance companies if you happen to have insurance.
  25. That is true. He's definitely not loafing and cares about the team and his craft. I bet Coop has helped him though and he probably doesn't ever wanna leave Chicago since he's figured something out likely with Coop's help I'd imagine.
