  1. I'm sickened by this hate. Really. How bout let his contract run out, then try to sign him. If he's as horrid as many of you suggest we'll get him to a 3-year 27 million type contract. All you guys afraid of signing him are comical. If he sucks so badly, why the hell would anybody else offer him a huge deal?? Makes zero sense!! Avi/Abreu cornerstones of WS teams!!! You can go root for your mystery guys who will have flaws once they come up like almost all ballplayers do! Avi baby!
  2. I can't wait to see which ballplayers you guys approve of getting a real multi year contract from the Sox someday. From my vantage point, it's Machado or Harper and that's it. You guys are good protectors of Jerry's wallet. Heaven forbid we pay Avi or Abreu someday. Do you guys act like this with the Bears or Blackhawks or Bulls as well or does the salary cap make you less contract stingy?
  3. Palka turns 27 in October. He looks like the real deal. Why no threads about flipping him, yet?
  4. You guys are so mean. Two years in a row now, whenever Avi does something good in a game thread somebody has to post something like "good, he'll be easier to trade now." Saddens me. Hail Avi!
  5. Anybody who could lead this the White Sox to a WS title is worthy of a documentary. He had the city in the palm of his hand for a while. Then his ego got him to do some really stupid things and it was OVA for him.
  6. So Russia did hack the election? Is this the start of Trump impeachment? Now that it's fact he should be impeached or resign immediately. This is appalling by the way. We should immediately enter into a cold war if not a real war with Russia over this. Someday they'll hack our nuclear weapons and turn them on our big cities and take over the USA that way. https://www.yahoo.com/news/rebuke-trump-key-senate-panel-endorses-finding-russia-attacked-2016-election-210143332.html
  7. Are there any good documentaries on Ozzie? Many of you despised him. I saw him as fascinating.

Nobody ever could have imagined the Sox would struggle so badly after winning it all. Too bad in retrospect JR didn't sell and KW take the job in Hollywood right after winning it all.
  9. I'm not anti women. I rather like McCain. I don't like panelists who scream over each other. And all except McCain on that show do that.

Love your posts Richie. Keep it up, sir.
  11. I wonder why Chicago hated on him.
  12. Does anybody here ever watch those witches on The View? I watch highlights on youtube sometimes of segments. Why don't they just call it "Hating on Trump?" Everything is political on there and it's all anti-Trump. They won't refer to Trump by his name. Whoopi calls him the guy in the White House. Joy Behar acts as if he is the devil. Poor Meghan McCain is the only Republican and Whoopi was screaming at her the other day. One of the View panelists I forget her name, she's an attorney, said she approved of kicking Republicans out of restaurants. She said we have the right to express our feelings that way. I'm guessing that Red Hen owner will go out of business soon. Hope her snobbishness/meanness was worth it to her.
  13. You guys mock me, but I am a typical midwest voter. And I loved Bernie. They held a pre-election speech in KC for Hillary. The place was 1/2 full. Bernie spoke in Lawrence. Fans arrived 8 hours early to get in. Packed house. We in the midwest love Bernie.

  15. If he promised to never bunt again, I'd keep him. Otherwise he gawn. Why is he losing the clubhouse? I can accept if it's about bunting. But anything else? He's doing what he's supposed to do. Rack up piles of losses so Sox can get a top 3 pick. Players should blame management not Sir Bunt-a-Lot.

I'd give anything to have some of those teams that were expected to win, but failed right now. Thing is ... we need a new owner, GM and head GM (Kenny role) in that scenario. Fathom and Soxfan2014 could have tinkered and made some of those teams WS contenders. A lot of the flop teams were picked to win the division.
  17. Let's say the Sox flirt with 100 losses and are out of the race in May again in 2019 and 2020. How the hell would the franchise still be worth billions in that scenario? The crowds in 2020 will be under 10,000 all year. I guess baseball owners are guaranteed insane profits just cause it's MLB. But if we lose 100 to 110 games next year and 2020, how the hell will any fans associate with the White Sox? Do little kids want to associate with such badness? Will we have any Sox fans in the future or will they all be Cub fans?

Not to blast you, but we've reached the stage of insane silliness. Now we want to trade the guys we got in the tank years for the rebuild. Let's just do a never ending cycle of trading/tanking. Thing is you'll never hit lightning in a bottle doing it this way like 2005. Do it the old way you can win titles any year conceivably. Do it this way, you tank for 5 years, then have a window of 3 and tank again. I'm sure I'll give up on baseball before too much longer which will make everybody on this board happy. We could trade Moncada and Soria and Shields and Timmy in a blockbuster for let's say a contender's top six prospects. Maybe some national writer can start a rumor that Moncada is available. Insane stuff.

He would be without Coop. I discounted the fact Coop could make fathom a great pitcher/closer.
  20. This game is why Rick R must stop calling out players. The team is tanking, Ricky, trying to lose. Quit pretending otherwise. It was built to tank. Awful bullpen. Awful starting pitching. Way too many rotten hitters. Do not get on your players any more, RR. They are just cooperating with the tank which is very bad for the game of baseball. Purposely losing is BAD FOR THE INTEGRITY OF THE GAME.
  21. Many new wave GMs would disagree with you. No bunting.
  22. Nobody has explained to me how the great KW and Rick Hahn, who are into new wave stats/etc would allow this crap to continue!! You can't bunt in modern baseball folks. There is no bunting in baseball!!
  23. Finally an answer to greg. Thank you! At least it's an answer. My rebuttal would be, "don't you folks realize it will be nice to have a couple White Sox veterans who have been thru the bad days?" You guys asking for youth and only youth are gonna be very disappointed I fear.
  24. Great at bat by Avi. I wish you all would give me one good reason he should not anchor our WS teams. Geez louise you guys frustrate greg. It's not like he's old.
  25. Jose is an unrestricted free agent in 2020. So I would offer him 17 million for 2019, the final year of his contract. Then I'd let him become a free agent and I'd bid with the rest of the teams. If you guys are correct in that he's declining declining declining, well, our offer should be right there with everybody else's. Who the hell is going to offer him some Verlander-type deal? Nobody. Now if we feel so inclined and want to offer him a contract before his runs out? I'd offer 17 to 18 mill a year for 3 years. If we have to go four years, fine. That's it for his one and only multi-year deal as a big leaguer. Four years at 18 million a year. If he demands more than 4, then let him walk even though I'd cry. Even though I love him. So in short, 17 mill to Jose A next season, then let him become free agent; if we decide to offer before he becomes free agent, between 17 and 18 mill a year for 3-4 years. Again, you all point out he's old and already in decline. If so ... what team is gonna offer way more than that???? NONE. Avi: Free agent in 2020 like Jose A. Well ... next year is arbitration for him again. If he has a good end of the season and is not broken down (hammies are tough) by the end of the year, give him $9 or 10 million for his final season as a White Sox. If he rips his hammy again and is out for 2 more months or something, I guess we'd have to assess what the hell is going on and is he broken down? If he finishes strong or even if he finishes average, go ahead and offer him the 9-10 mill next season. No more than 12 mill. Let him become a free agent. Again ... if what you all say is correct and he's just another guy ... we won't have to out bid anybody by much. I am not a complete fool thus Avi still has some work to do before he gets the 4 year deal at 15-20 mill a year. Let's say he finishes this year strong or at least healthy ... go ahead and give him 9-10 million for next season, no more than 12 million. Now he's a free agent at the end of the year. Offer him 14 million a year for 4 years. If somebody is completely enamored with Avi and offers him 20 to 22 mill for 4 years, I concede sadly to let him walk. UNLESS of course he's putting up last year's numbers to that point. There's a lot of baseball still to be played before he's a free agent. If he's putting up MVP numbers through the end of the 2019 season, go ahead and offer him 20 mill a year for 5 years. I guess if somebody wants him bad enough to steal him away in free agency at 25 mill a year for 4-5 years, let him walk. Don't go higher than 20 mill a year for 5 years. He does have injuries in his history thus if somebody wants to give him one of those wacky 7 year deals at 26 mill a year, unfortunately bye bye Avi. There is some risk with him. Thus he must sign a fair deal to both parties which could max out at 20 mill a year for 5 years IF he continues to be the Avi of last year and the last week. I do think both players should anchor our WS teams. I really do. They are perfect candidates to be the two White Sox veterans to lead us to greatness. My guess is they will remain White Sox unless one of the rich teams decides they have to have one of them and pay ridiculous contracts.
