  1. Did you see that Sarah Sanders and her family members (including small kids) were denied food at a Virginia restaurant because the owner was offended she works for Trump? Me sees a double standard here. There's absolutely been NO OUTRAGE. Meanwhile, the much-publicized case of the store owner who wouldn't serve (bake a cake) the gay couple that wanted to buy a wedding cake for their wedding received coverage every day or week for 2 years. ... Hmmm, that went to the courts. Sanders was denied the same type of service. She and her family wanted dinner. What if she claims it caused terrible distress to one of her kids that was hungry? Again, I'm not saying Donnie Trump is good (anybody with a brain knows our president is a clown and all that) but .... what's the difference in the cases, folks? Should Sarah Sanders take this to court?? If not why not? And why does the left never back the right in any instance? And yes I started a new thread on this. Shoot me for trying to contribute to the board. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/sarah-sanders-says-red-hen-virginia-restaurant-owner-told-her-to-leave-2018-06-23/
  2. Thanks for explanation. I can't believe Balta was nice in a response to Greg. Usually I fear the wrath and venom.
  3. Glad to see other soxtalkers get in drag out fights in here like Greg. Usually it's me in the middle of something. GO SOX!
  4. We know Ricky won't be managing our contending team when it's time. Til then he's man the fort and he's a good clubhouse guy apparently. Also he's called out several players for not hustling which is good. He's just a horrible in game manager.
  5. Is it right by the entrances and exits? The area is right there by the gates? Interesting if so. The fans couldn't get out cause of protestors. What they had against Pirates fans is not apparent. I would guess 90 to 99 percent of the fans were not in favor of some cop shooting an unarmed kid.
  6. Are you crazy tonight? If they didn't why did they print THIS apology?? Geez. Time also has added a correction to an online article and gallery that ran Tuesday, before the cover was released: “The original version of this story misstated what happened to the girl in the photo after she [was] taken from the scene. The girl was not carried away screaming by U.S. Border Patrol agents; her mother picked her up and the two were taken away together.”
  7. I love it too! But to be fair they SHOULD have held a discussion about the desire to lose in our clubhouse and fan base. If all the players hear is how cool it is to lose to get a top 2-3 draft pick next year, no wonder they make so many clownish mistakes. There's really no reason to try to win when everybody from the GM to the fans want you to fail/lose. I expect when we get good again, we'll play better fundamental baseball. Til then clown ball.
  8. Great point Lip Man! My contention is he knew what needed to be done but was trying to jack another homer. Why? Why not? The games don't matter.
  9. Did you read the articles? Time apologized. The girl walked off with her mother, not agents. And the investigation is if the photographer knew that? I'm against separating kids from their parents. But I think Time deserves a lot of backlash from this, starting with the fake cover and the initial fake news. The girl wasn't separated from her mother. I think Time can do better than this.
  10. I read it differently. He wrote he's reminding him of Ackley more and more every day. I didn't see that as a big deal. Guys remind people of other guys all the time. Moncada definitely has some pop in his bat and seems to be a great prospect is how I see him. His defense seems like it'll be fine as well.
  11. There needs to be an investigation at least. From what I heard the photographer was making the media rounds talking about shooting the photo. And she was not even separated from parents. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/time-magazine-corrects-cover-story-crying-migrant-girl-175703772.html
  12. Hmmm Vox writes But when I saw Time’s cover on Thursday morning — and what I can only describe as the misuse of Moore’s original image — my immediate reaction was rage. As a photojournalist, a visuals editor, and an immigrant, I didn’t see it as a powerful statement on President Trump’s attitude toward the family separation crisis or the policies that have ripped more than 2,000 vulnerable children from their parents. I see it as an insensitive and exploitative play to sell magazines — and one that, albeit unintentionally, offers up this personal tragedy to be memed and ridiculed. https://www.vox.com/2018/6/21/17488680/time-magazine-cover-family-separation-border-trump-john-moore My take continues: I don't like fake covers like that. I feel like the above is very deceptive and I can see why people scream, "Fake News" when they see fabrications like this. It should at least explain it's a depiction.
  13. Hmmm so Newt Gingrich and Sarah Sanders are appalled at the magazine. So this entire article was written about the issue, but you guys act like it's nothing. I don't like doctored covers to make some point. What do you say to this article greg-haters? Geez some of you have no patience and refuse to discuss topics without simple one liners! https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/6/22/17494688/time-magazine-cover-crying-girl-photo-controversy-family-separation
  14. I know the Sox brought back MiGo but how often do you re-sign a guy like that? Sounds good in theory but ... I'm just saying if you can't get anything except two prospects who probably won't make it, it's insane to trade Abreu. I mean this trade stuff at some point jumps the shark. I do think Hahn will trade him though. If you trade him, the team that gets him is going to get a superstar who can help them win it all THIS YEAR and next. So YES I'm demanding Hahn get at least ONE sure-fire star for him. Preferably 2 sure fire stars and one top 50 guy. That's how it works. Teams overpay for studs who can help them win it all NOW. Why our fans are demanding less from Hahn SLAYS me. Geez some of you are so kind to the front office of the White Sox. How bout if we trade fan favorite/great chemistry guy Abreu we slay some team and acquire studs not duds??????? If Hahn gets organizational fodder for him and not excellence I just wish we'd fire Hahn.
  15. I'm trying to read the facts. Pittsburgh police shot a 17 year old kid three times in the back and he was unarmed. Last 3 days/nights there have been protests in Pittsburgh. There's apparently evidence of a video showing the kid doing something apparently wrong a few hours earlier. http://www.post-gazette.com/news/crime-courts/2018/06/22/Antwon-Rose-II-video-Stephen-A-Zappala-Jr-Coleman-McDonough-East-Pittsburgh-North-Braddock/stories/201806220214 My take is the same. Very very sad to lose another young life when an unarmed kid gets shot and killed. When are police going to learn they have to taze unarmed individuals or stop them in a way that does not kill the individual? That said, I am against the protests shutting down highways and forcing people to not leave the Pittsburgh Pirates game. I just wish all these people that march on the expressway would get arrested. It is dangerous and ridiculous to protest on the highways. I am wondering how many of these protestors are from Pittsburgh and how many are from other states? At any rate, it's summertime and this situation could really escalate. Shutting down highways in protest is not the answer. Why not just head to the biggest area downtown, most cities have such areas, and protest there?? No matter what you want to say about the dangers of being a police officer, they seem to be in the wrong in most all of these horrible incidents of killing unarmed individuals. I wonder is this is the same?
  16. If that's all you can get, Hahn should be fired for trading him. On the spot. It's not like the Sox are spending any money this season. If that's all there is for an all star why trade him? Dumb.
  17. Some of you take this stuff too seriously. We all have our opinions. This one I happen to think Moncada will be fine, but if somebody wants to criticize him, you can always answer back with your opinion. If you listen to most talk shows, the host repeats his point over and over and over. Same with message boards. Hardly anybody on here has given up on Moncada. I like Moncada. It's like when somebody rips Abreu, I'll defend him over and over.
  18. The fact baseball in its current element (millenials hate it, almost every hitter Ks too much, incessant stepping out of batters box and adjusting glove, etc), managers overmanaging starting in the sixth inning) is making a ton of money for the owners means one thing: the commissioner or whoever is responsible for the TV deals and MLB advanced media, etc., should be Time Magazine's person of the year. How the hell baseball in this current tank era is THIS lucrative is insane. Is it the commish? Somebody deserves a raise here. Read Nightengale folks! He makes some good points.
  19. He looked pretty frustrated after the eighth out. Poor guy. S--t happens.
  20. Some GM of a contending team truly would have to have balls to trade for this version of Soria. Of course most divisions are gonna be runaways cause of so many tank jobs, etc., so .... Anyhow you give up 2 great prospects for this version of Soria? Risky cause he could turn into the Jack the Royals fans knew and despised and the one who was awful before he got fixed. At any rate I can be a man about it and give him credit for a job well done for a month now. He's earning his money the last 4 weeks.
  21. Good post Jake. Excellent take. I do disagree on the strike zone however. The games I've seen they still won't call the belt high fastball a strike. My take is that's been the umps way of rebelling against baseball for the last many years. The umps think they are treated poorly and they wink, wink, won't call the rulebook correctly hence no high strike.
  22. This is one of those 60 or in my case, one of the 49. I'll take it. Outstanding baseball win.
  23. Somebody turned Soria around. Coop? Abreu? Somebody deserves credit and we fans need to know.
  24. I heard they've apologized. So did they try to fool us or not?
  25. Quick poll. Not trying to start a fight. You all know I despise Soria. So the question is ... do you want us to blow this lead and lose cause of the tank/draft pick issue? Greg's take: I want my nemesis Soria to dominate and us to WIN! So win or lose, folks. What do you want. Please speak now.
