  1. To be fair, we're not exactly great on the road either. It's just a bad team. Coop has prevented it from being a total disaster cause the pitching has been a bit better of late.
  2. You guys are overreacting re. Moncada. I know greg repeats himself a lot, but Moncada is the real deal. He's got the weapons (tools) for sure. Why does he struggle? Maybe cause it's hard to 100 percent be there every night when each game means nothing. Relax. Rate him and Timmy when the games matter. Let him play ball now and enjoy the highlights. He's the real deal. Who cares how he does now? He's still gonna have enuf great games he'll have the numbers at the end.
  3. Just because Trump has said bad stuff doesn't mean others should do the same. Foul language is not good in the presence of kids IMO.
  4. Scoots I like your posts. You make sense here.
  5. My thoughts on De Niro: Great great actor. Can do drama and comedy equally. Even have enjoyed him on talk shows. But should now be banned from all appearances at awards shows and on CBS. Unacceptable language for kids. My thoughts on Trump: a.) One of the most egotistical individuals to ever walk the planet. b.) The kind of guy you would NEVER EVER want to work for or socialize with. c.) Somebody who you can tell does not relate or like the middle class and below. Has no concern about anybody below his social/economic status. d.) I hate to call him evil or not a good person, but I think my gut feeling of his not being a good person is a true synopsis of him. e.) totally self centered; cares about his own wallet and his own pleasure (the Stormy thing; other things with women) more than anything else. Now he may care about his family and the USA, but definitely after his wallet and own pleasure. Kind of like all rich guys. ... I hope I'm forgiven for saying he appears to not be a good person. That said ... I am against constant public blasting of Trump by folks on TV and folks in Hollywood. I can root for the economy to improve under his leadership, yes I can. However his disdain for proper health care for me and all Americans who are not rich makes me follow only one politician for 2020: Bernie Sanders. Finally my new hero, along with Jesse Ventura (and Bernie of course), is Joe Rogan. I like his interviews. p.s. You may hate me and what I stand for, but I contend I'm more open than most on here. I am a Republican but I voted for Obama once. I love Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter and did not vote for Trump. I'd say I am independent but hate to give myself that title.
  6. Yep. So wouldn't you agree he's worth 15 mill a year for 4 years? If anybody wants to pay more than that, shake his hand and say, "Thanx for the memories." I guess you could add a year as long as it's not more than 15 a year.
  7. Coop has made it work of late. He's a genius baby.
  8. Hope you are right. He's looked pretty damn good of late. Hate to see him pitch a full season of 96 mph fastballs in 2019 when the team blows.
  9. Correct. It's obvious Hahn is stalling. He's got one more chip. AAA. He'll stall as long as possible moving him to AAA, and when he does, he'll tell Eloy, 'son we just want to make the natural progression. Your big league debut is coming (next year; or maybe September call ups)." Remember, you don't want to anger Eloy. And he can't get upset about spending some time in AAA. Hahn just has to stall as long as possible moving him to AAA.
  10. Why would any team pay retail for a mid 30s slugger in today's mlb? Are the Sox the only 'smart' team in baseball? If everybody shares these same concerns about aging players, what would make a team pay 4/25 for an old guy like Abreu? He's 4 years 15 mill a year, case closed. He ain't getting more than that in today's environment. Again ... Sox fans on here demand we pay no more than that (that's probably even too much money for most on here right?) so what team is gonna give him 20 mill a year for 4-5 years?? That's apparently not what teams do nowadays. 4 years, 15 mill a year, finish it now.
  11. Geez. According to what you wrote, we never should draft a guy with that agent. If there's zero hope of keeping a guy, even one as average as Rodon, WTF? Just stay away from all Boras guys in the future.
  12. Coop truly is the best in the business. If he can get that collection of arms to have a 2.08 ERA over a two week period, he truly is the best. I am skeptical however that it can continue at all. Soria has had something like 4 good outings in a row and he's incapable of any more than that for sure. The rest of those guys are just bodies. Coop has again proven his value. He should have a lifetime contract. He also should be our next manager IMO. He's grumpy and that would be entertaining as well. All that media access would drive him truly insane.
  13. Live In Australia. Bleeped here. Stole the show it’s all anybody is talking about from the Tonys
  14. I actually worship De Niro. Love his movies! Fockers stuff is funny and the early stuff. Love him. But ... this sets a bad example for kids. On TV saying F--K is not good.
  15. I'm talking about human decency, nothing else. A big bad old movie star saying F--K on TV and not getting in trouble. And a whole arena standing and applauding. So all those adults in the crowd ... are you OK with your 12 year old son copying Bobby DeNiro and as valedictorian start your speech with F--K Trump!! Are school officials OK with this in the valedictorian speeches? Why not? He got a standing ovation on TV and NO REPRIMANDS at all cept from the Trumpie kooks on Twitter. Sickening behavior.
  16. This getting rid of guys before they are too old is only a new modern stat-lover phenomenon you realize? Even the end of Paulie's career was not like this. He got lousy; he retired. Now all people do is project how anybody over 30, 32 is going to age. Even if the person is a star at 32, there is serious concern about ensuing seasons. It used to be if you were a star at 32, fans would relax and applaud, applaud applaud the player every year. Now it's a serious concern that we're better off getting rid of him lest he age poorly. Of course the same Sox fans who are worried sick about Abreu aging and want to get rid of him in lieu of giving him a big-buck contract think some other team is going to sign him to that big-buck contract. So some teams are worried to death about age and others are not? What a sick sports world we now live in. If he's a star at 32 let him continue being a star and if you waste money on him, so be it. The White Sox owners are raking in $$$$s.
  17. So Robert De Niro of all people throws a fit at the Tony Awards and on national TV says "F--k Trump" twice and the crowd goes berserk and gives a standing ovation. How is this acceptable behavior? No reprimand from the network yet? What if some awards presenter screamed, "I've been meaning to get this off my chest ... F--k Hillary and F--k Obama!" My guess is that person would be blacklisted forever from Hollywood. What is with the temper tantrum Mr. De Niro? And what is with no backlash, no reprimands, only a standing ovation and the only criticism is from Trumpie kooks on Twitter. DeNiro was out of line and should be banned from all shows on CBS forevermore. And you know the producers of the Tony's and CBS knew he was going to say something radical in having him on the show. He's done it before. How is this healthy? More devisiveness and negativity at the fricking Tony Awards?? Mr. De Niro and his family should be ashamed. A little baby temper tantrum against the evil Donald Trump. So the left approves so no Roseanne-like reprimands? Weird and sad. Can any Soxtalker condone this behavior? It is unacceptable.
  18. I'm just saying if any of the prospects produce as Abreu has, people should consider them runaway success stories. I'm so sick of sports fans only caring about the unknown. Abreu is a proven star for gawd sakes.
  19. You don't need experience anymore. It's probably going to be Trump vs. Oprah remember?
  20. I said 48 or 49 wins.
  21. That's why I think this rebuild is tricky. Are we gonna waste two or three seasons on Lopez's arm? Wear and tear as we lose? These pitchers have a short shelf life nowadays with surgery imminent. I'd prefer we speed the rebuild while some of these pitchers still have live arms.
  22. Are you serious? Teams won't fall for a Coop-induced stretch of excellence from Soria. No GM is going to take on his salary when you consider what you are getting. A guy who can turn into a stiff at a moment's notice. He's doing a nice job now but Soria is the kind of guy who could turn a contender into a pretender in a hurry through buzzkill. If Hahn can get anything useful for Soria, that would be good but I'm not hopeful. All this Abreu talk (not by you) is so damn stupid. Why trade one of the best players in the damn league?? A guy everybody on the team fricking LOVES? If Hahn trades him he has rocks for brains. Shields? Dump him ASAP. Not hopeful for that though. Jones? By all means trade him if you can.
  23. Does Trump ever meet the press in press conference settings or just talk to his buddy on that late night show, I forget his name? I feel like those daily sessions with Sarah Sanders are kind of useless. I did find her a rock star in this interview however. Chris Cuomo tried and tried and she wouldn't bite on his question. Thing is, who cares what some spokesperson thinks? If you can't get Trump to talk it all seems a waste of time. Do press secretaries ever say anything of value?
  24. No still 48 or 49.
  25. I couldn't watch tonight, was stunned to see us win 1-0 in Boston. Even with Covey resembling Tom Seaver in his prime, I'd never think the pathetic Sox could hold that lead with its pen. But alas the pen is on a roll. So either Coop is a genius again or the bullpen is just having a nice stretch. There's no way possible you could envision a victory tonight. Congratulations Sox, beating the other Sox on the road in a full stadium. Impossible I say. Covey baby.
