  1. 9.75 lol. Like anybody is going to want the quarter back.
  2. Very true. Once they start charging like 13.50, they might as well move it to 20 bucks. People would whip out a 20 for a cold brewski or even a warm one at a MLB game.
  3. I've soured on Hawk a bit since he said our team never quits. I know it's a harmless cliche but I expect better from the great hawkeroo.
  4. Sox are being patient with Engel. That would be neat if he becomes a ballplayer. He's already whacked more hits than many ever thought he would including moi.
  5. Good. No need to have him on our team. I'll give him credit for not tanking and trying to earn his salary. I can't imagine we get much for him considering it'll be all salary relief. Maybe one young arm or two very very fringe prospects.
  6. I wanted .500 then we bring up Eloy and Kopech and maybe we win a lousy division while rebuilding. I wanted two relievers of note, one starter, one third baseman and one outfielder baby.
  7. I've hated almost all our moves, yes. I was very happy about Pods. I worshiped Dye. Loved Contreras and loved Iguchi acquisition. Of the four I probably loved Contreras the least. Why can't you guys help me out. You tell me two relievers we could have signed who are very good; one starter very good; one third baseman and one outfielder and maybe a catcher besides Beef. All it woulda cost is a few bucks. It wouldn't have prevented anybody from advancement.
  8. If you asked somebody who is not one of us fanatics if they wanted to go to a game that night what would they say? And what about jerseys and hats? Do you see many/ Finally have we lost the Little Leaguers? Are they all Cub fans?
  9. I was wondering living out of state ... is there any buzz in Chicago at all about the White Sox? Does the city totally ignore the team. Is it like a minor league team where TV and the websites and news outlets barely cover the team at all?
  10. I don't follow the Cubs. Frankly I wish I could stomach them cause I'm dying to care about a team that wins. But I hate the Cubs and know very little about them. No time to follow teams besides the Sox. I enjoy listening to Denny Matthews get crabby (less this year for some reason) and bark at his co announcers so sometimes in the car I listen to royals when driving. No Cubs though.
  11. I still think Moose would have been a good 3Bman for us for 5-6 years. Could you give me the list of last year's FAs. My preference was 2 good relievers, one GOOD starter and a third baseman, Moose, as well as one outfielder. None of those guys would have been blocking anybody and coulda helped us creep to .500. You guys with the list and pick for me. Give me a good starter, Moustakas, a good outfielder and two good relievers. That's not cheating. It's Hahn's job. I was not a big castillo fan at catcher (again Sox have made very few moves that have met my approval since 05) but at least they tried there. You'll get mad at me for Royals talk, but Cain is a winner as well.
  12. Pathetic effort. Shields is no good but he has been good enough to throw some innings on the major league level this year. Some contender that desperately needs a No. 5 starter could send the Sox a low level fringe prospect you'd think. I don't know why I care. It would just provide the Sox salary relief and I'd prefer Jerry not make so much money to begin with. Anyhow, Shields has had enough non horrible outings you'd think he'd be a useful No. 4 or 5 for a contender. I'm sure I'm not saying anything Hahn isn't thinking about to continue to save Jerry some dough in a lost season.
  13. Cool. You must have a good job. Isn't that about 50 bucks?
  14. Not to remain Negative Nancy but I actually only liked the Robertson signing and I stood up for him throughout his tenure with the Sox. He blew a few saves but I thought he was a good closer. Our front office is in a long stretch of angering Greg. They've done a good job of acquiring guys I don't approve of. A couple times I stifled just cause the board was so happy to get some of those guys, but our front office has a horrid record since 05 of doing anything right. The rebuild? We'll see.
  15. I hear you. But didn't somebody say Bleacher Report ranked our market 10th?
  16. The Sox inability to remain atop that weak division after winning it all in 05 is one of the great tragedies in Chicago sports history.
  17. America I think is still the greatest place of all, but there's no question it can be horrific depending on your situation. If you have a chronic condition and we're at a stage you can't get insurance, you could live on the streets forever. If you are a kid in the wrong classroom you could be wiped off our planet at age 5 by some gunman. Or the wrong movie theatre you could be gone before your life even gets fun. If you are the wrong color you could have some cop blow your head off or harass you. It's all relative. I do believe America is by far the best place in the world but still I don't deny you can have a really bad life here depending on your situation.
  18. That event is all well and good, but guess what, everybody likes a free beer or two. The $10 may have covered two beers or one drink. I doubt there was a lot of policy talk going on in the bar, but who knows, maybe.
  19. Cmon. Chicago White Sox is a major market team. Yes there are a lot of excuses because the Cubs have won the battle for fan interest. But truly it's the Sox fault. The Sox had the city won during the WS season. They had a chance to more than hold their own if they would have been able to start dominating such a weak division, but they failed. Just because the front office failed doesn't mean the team isn't major market. Fans have never had a problem coming out to the Cell when the team is good, despite all the neighborhood talk and blah stadium talk. They won't go out there when the team blows and who's fault is that? Again, this major market team had a chance to tie the Cubs or even own the city after winning it all in 05. Everybody loves a winner and the team failed miserably to build on that so you get what you get, an underachieving franchise that still makes a ton of money cause of TV.
  20. So I had never heard of Samantha Bee til her rips of Trump's daughter. Here's what confuses me. ... Apparently part of her schtick is cussing and getting it bleeped out on the show. She calls the daughter a c--t and implies Trump has sex with her. Or wants to. So there's this outrage and she apologizes profusely. Now wait. Surely in this environment, with Roseanne still hot in the news, Bee knows some aren't gonna like her cuss rant. Some are gonna be outraged and demand sponsor boycotts, etc. So she still does it. Then apologizes meekly. My point is ... you fricking have to know there's gonna be outrage, so double down on it. I mean you can't call somebody a c--t then "beg forgiveness" and ask Trump's daughter personally for forgiveness. I mean less than 24 hrs later you say it was a big mistake, etc. I mean at least go down fighting. If you are gonna meekly apologize, then don't go on the rant to begin with. If you are not gonna meekly apologize, go for it! Same with Kathy Griffin. Her new schtick now is to say she doesn't regret severing Trump's head, etc. Well that's a bit different after her whimpering, crying apology the day after people called her on it. What I'm saying is ... if you are an outrageous comedian, then stand by your fricking comedy. At least Don Rickles never apologized. Somebody explain to me why Bee apologized. You can't go from venom to saying "mea culpa, so sorry, big mistake, forgive me!" Too late. Just tell the world, "People I am a comedian. It was a joke. Lighten up MFs!!!"
  21. They allowed God but nixed "Jesus." Not sure why. You are right about "God" though. They were saying "God" a lot and left that in there. No Jesus however.
  22. You are added to the club of 2-5 peeps throughout my stint on Soxtalk, who can't take my posts. Bizarre that you feel the need to attack me like an opossum attacks garbage after 2 a.m. You seem to think the only way the White Sox can win is through a complete tear down tank rebuild and it just drives you crazy somebody might disagree. Well I disagree. Everybody says "it didn't work the other way." But nobody can respond to my response. Who the frick's fault is that??? How bout our scouts, our front office peeps, our instructors through the system? Chicago White Sox there is not one way to win, sir. And I can't believe you attacked me like that. All I do is post opinions, just like you. And I'll leave on a happy note. Glad to see Tilson contribute tonight; it's a pleasure to watch Anderson run the bases. That is all. I'm waiting for my apology.
  23. That's actually our best current lineup. Now the guys at the bottom actually have to perform like big leaguers, but that unquestionably is our current best lineup.
  24. I agree, I was speaking in general about this season. The division blows yet the FO made no effort to signing a few guys to placehold until the studs are ready and in the meantime, contend. Cleveland is laughing at everybody but Minnie conceding.
