  1. If this rebuild fails, if too many players flame out, welcome to the 20 year rebuild, folks.
  2. My opinion of Soxtalk as a fan: Wait til next year or better yet, wait til two years from now. Sox fans used to be badasses, never were like Cub fans. They demanded excellence now. The front office was always concerned with its second citizen status in town. They were terrified of fielding horrific teams such as this one. Now thanks to TV contracts, it's all about the future as Brian Anderson said in a post above. That is scary. They better get this one right since we're being forced to wait.
  3. I do not like the fact hollywood and everybody blasts Christians and there are no consequences. We get mocked all the time for believing in the man upstairs. It might have been fake news possibly but I saw a video where it was some TV show, I believe the View, that bleeped out the word Jesus cause it might offend. Very sad
  4. Exactly. I'm fed up and through with them. Insurance companies are crooked and won't pay up. I want free stuff now and will vote for anybody who gives it to me.
  5. What does that mean? That I am beloved?
  6. I think he is a clone of Konerko which is a good thing.
  7. I bet they respect greg's posts. Thanks to Leonard for his post recognizing my length of time on this board, thus the fact what you see is what you get. I am not a troll. I may be an angry fan or a disillusioned fan or too demanding of a fan but I am a fan. That would be cool if Hahn did post on here. It would certainly make some of us be more polite and less egregious.
  8. Great post by Brian. I wish some of these folks would post more.
  9. If Hahn was somebody on this board? It'd be Chicago White Sox I think it is. Isn't he the guy who had the post that said he was sick of people who didn't understand the rebuild like me, "how long must this go on?"
  10. We're not being soft. We are just embarrassed at this sorry team. Now is there a guarantee we'll be great once the rebuild is complete? I sure hope so. I personally think we're seeing some of the problems with a rebuild. Some players seem to lose focus evidenced by their lapses. Whatever ... just win baby.
  11. Good news. He's staying according to this Q and A https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-likely-holding-on-to-jose-abreu/c-279137072?tid=218325368 As far as your question, I was simply quoting a poster on soxtalk who said he might be older. I never said I believed it. I don't know what to think of those reports. But the Q and A agrees you need some veterans to lead the rebuilt team. Jose A is staying.
  12. There's something about Bernie that rubs some Demos the wrong way. I'd take Bernie or Biden over Trumpster. Would Ben Carson run again? Or is he been tossed in the meat grinder and too frazzled after the last go-round in which he was painted as a dummy.
  13. If we have to trade Abreu, you get a haul in return. Some folks on here tend to devalue their own. The guy is a consistent stat stuffing machine. I mean, I'm serious. Maybe not as much as a Sale, but close to it. Don't devalue Jose Abreu just because his age is becoming unattractive to many.
  14. Read the post directly under this one, posted above. The poster also is negative regarding this topic and his name isn't greg. Just because you are patient in rebuilds doesn't mean every fan has to be. Some of us are flat out pissed.
  15. I'd take this guy cause we have not had a great catcher in a long time.
  16. The problem is I need to develop an interest in the advanced stats and they frankly bore me. Surprised more millenials aren't bored by them as it takes a while to study them, learn about them and their intricasies and supposedly people have no time or attention span nowadays to concern themselves with advanced metrics. The old stats are wham, bam. He's hitting .310? Not bad. He's got 15 homers on June 1. Not bad. He's on track for 110 RBI. Nice. He's leading the league in doubles. He's got 25 stolen bases and leads the league. Nice. He's 10-1 on the mound. He is third in the league in strikeouts. He has 14 saves already and has only blown 2 saves. Kudos to those willing to put in the time to become advanced stat aficionados. Maybe I'll develop an interest at some point.
  17. I can buy that. I endorse this post.
  18. I know. It's sad Father Time has those dudes 10-15 years too old for this. Hard to imagine any young candidates that will survive the likeability test and media scrutiny. The media chewed up Carson, who I liked. The media chewed up some of the others like Carly. Bush couldn't handle Trump's meanness/insults. Once a young candidate gets momentum, the heavy scrutiny begins and the warts come out. I want Bernie cause I want free stuff now. That's cause my government has failed my middle class. So I've given up. Give it to me free now, baby. And Bernie will deliver.
  19. You guys better hope our front office has done a better job of acquiring and identifying people in your rebuild than they did during my preferred line of attack (acquiring free agents, etc., to go with a few stars). You know there's no law that says this way is going to work. The problem with my way is that our front office failed me. They are the ones who acquired bad players when good ones could have just as easily been acquired with proper scouting/leadership/etc. Hopefully it will work. I do think Moncada and Anderson are good and Lopez is experience away from being a good No. 3 or 4 starter probably. And I haven't given up on Avi, etc.
  20. I appreciate that. I enjoy reading the posts. For instance, I am happy that those who follow advanced stats have fallen in love with Davidson as I did last year. Now going only by traditional stats, Davidson wasn't lighting the world on fire with his low batting average. But in this instance, I've read your guys' posts and he's doing great via advanced stats. As somebody who fell for Davidson last year, I have enjoyed the fact advanced stats like him a lot this year.
  21. Yeah I thought I used it once recently. You found it.
  22. I acknowledge advanced stats. I just don't like the fact the traditional stats have been deemed laughable by the stat people.
  23. Biden/Bernie that's the ticket.
  24. Condescending isn't the right word. The advanced stat lovers have the knowledge of the new stat world, thus they tower over me and my ilk so to speak. They are the ones condescending to us cause our old world stats are laughed at now. Batting average means nothing, nowadays, but there are some advanced hitting metrics that matter a ton. The advanced stat people have the ammo; they are the ones who can shoot us traditional stat lovers down in a second.
  25. Good post. I just hoped my team would not have to resort to intentional losing. Some of us don't care about picking 4th in the draft vs. 14th.
