**President Trump 2018 Thread**
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 09:30 PM) Why isn’t the Stormy Daniels story a bigger deal? http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/19/politics/sto...ysis/index.html National Enquirer Shielded Donald Trump From Playboy Model’s Affair Allegation Tabloid owner American Media agreed to pay $150,000 for story from 1998 Playmate of the Year, but hasn’t published her account Don’t we trust the PMOY a little bit more? https://www.wsj.com/articles/national-enqui...tion-1478309380 Notice the very conservative WSJ was the source for both these stories, originally I was thinking the same thing. This is huge as Trump would say. I mean he was married and if he had affair with a porn star, that's kinda crazy. I would think wife would leave him immediately at the very least.

**President Trump 2018 Thread**
Guys, guys guys. Was driving to get a haircut and listened to Rush. Hmmm, he said the economy is thriving under Trump. Said stock market is doing amazing. Said everything Trump is doing is working. Says Democrats are causing a ruckus over the shutdown to deflect attention from Trump successful economy. Before you deem me some Rush fanatic, folks, I listened for a grand total of 3 minutes before commercials hit and that was it.

The Sexual Assault problem
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 02:14 AM) Greg, it's not so complicated. We're supposed to have EQ and sense when someone is hesitant or not completely comfortable. That's when you stop whatever you're doing and ask, "Is that alright?" or "Are you okay?" Or you simply should be so confident of yourself that you allow the women to lead the physical interactions in the beginning stages of a relationship, until you're 100% sure about how she feels about you, that she's "into you" or whatever phrase people use these days. Not a bad post Caulfield. It's hard to discuss this topic on a message board.

The Sexual Assault problem
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2018 -> 11:13 PM) Or you could just, you know, ask the person. What point are you trying to make? What, on a first date, a formal declaration? Asking if she wants to have sex? Are we to that point? I think many people (I hesitate to say most lest I be called some kind of scumbag) have had one night stands in which (whether you were in college or not, uh beer beer beer and more beer and parties parties and more parties) things just sort of happened. I'm all for changing society and making it a formal question on every date if that's what this has come to. Making it illegal to have sex unless a formal question has been asked for permission. And perhaps we should tape the exchange and/or sign documents agreeing to sex. I'm all for gentlemanly behavior at all times, but it seems to me because of the nature of some of these incidents of he said/she said, we perhaps should go to a formal written contract saying both parties agree to sex. If you are a celebrity you certainly have a career to lose in a second even if wrongly accused and you did nothing wrong. Better to get it all in writing in the future. If you are into the wilder lifestyle you could carry contracts around much like people carry anything else in their wallet or purse. It's OK to redefine legally what is allowed to happen on a date.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jan 18, 2018 -> 05:03 PM) His wife has probably known about it for years and doesn't care. I don't think she stays married to him because she's actually in love with him. But a porn star complicates things. That's kind of a wild affair. Trump's wife could get quite a settlement.

**President Trump 2018 Thread**
This thing about Trump and the porn star could get interesting. His wife could leave him over something like that. That would shake things up even more in this travesty of a presidency.

The Korea Situation; It's Very Serious
The incident in Hawaii was horrifying. To tell the people a missile is coming ... I mean that's one of the worst situations in human history. I'm surprised some people didn't commit suicide on the spot with a missile allegedly coming to blow you to smithereens.

The Sexual Assault problem
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jan 18, 2018 -> 04:17 PM) But it's not really clear, even if you believe her side of the story. Again, she readily admits to numerous sexual acts throughout the night and she could have left at anytime. Was he pushy? Sounds like it. But she didn't help the situation by sending out mixed signals. It's not really fair to (1) willingly participate, (2) regret it and then (3) talk to a blog or whatever that website is and pretend like it's a case of assault. Let's face it. The bottom line is when she first resisted AT ALL he needed to turn on the TV and say "my bad, I misread the situation let's watch some TV." Can I get you some water, some coffee? Let's just chat." Then if he got bored, pretend he's falling asleep and hopefully the date ends right there with her catching an Uber or continuing to watch TV til she wanted to leave. There are no excuses for men in these situations. If a celebrity in the past has "pushed" as Azid did in this case, his career may be over and he may be in jail facing charges as well. I have no opinion either way except you now must be a gentleman at all times. It's just the way it is. In the past you also should have been a gentleman but we all know when you meet somebody things can escalate. The term is one-night stand for a reason. There can be no more one night stands, folks. Celebrities beware. One night stands are ova.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 15, 2018 -> 04:20 AM) He basically admitted to it anyway. This dude is writing the book on how to not be presidential. Policies aside, he is representing us so poorly. We are a joke around the world. He is a poor representative, agreed. But what did everybody expect. You guys all get mad at my simplistic view of Trump, but it's kinda true. The stereotypical rich older guy, who has had yes men and women agreeing with his every move and stroking his ego for what, 30 years now? You put an entitled rich guy who only tolerates yes men and women around him and this is what you get. Personality wise this is what you get. The only saving grace for the US could be is as a rich businessman there's a slight chance he could turn the economy around completely. He's used to $$$ issues and we might become elite country $$$ wise again. It would be nice if he got impeached. However, his VEEP isn't exactly great either, is he?

How can we assume the first source is correct when several people are saying Trump didn't say the word? Trump is gonna have a field day with the "fake news" charges he likes so much.

Hmmm. Lots of people at the meeting now saying Trump never said 's***hole'. Interesting. Libel suit?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 14, 2018 -> 09:47 PM) Apparently you must be a Democrat if you take a liberal arts class. Ugh. Republicans are either doctors, engineers, lawyers and MBA grads. Let’s not forget that the majority of immigrant groups majoring in STEM subjects are definitely not GOP voters...nevertheless, all Millennials majoring in humanities are unemployed/don’t pay taxes, live in their mom’s basement and voted for Sanders. I guess the corollary is that all white/male non-college graduates voted for Trump, but are never duped or uninformed. The wonders of groupthink. College graduates (especially women) are brainwashed by liberal professors. Everyone else by Facebook, Russian bots, FOX News and Breitbart. Since the majority of SoxTalk has at least a BA/BS, and are disproportionately white and male, compared to the general US population, shouldn’t they be voting or identifying with the GOP following that line of logic? Perhaps the solution is to invite some Ricketts-worshipping Cubs’ board posters to the Filibuster to make for livelier debates? No stereotypes there at all, right?

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 13, 2018 -> 03:30 AM) There are republican posters here? I'm still Republican though as you all know I've not voted one for President in quite a while. And I'm a huge Jimmy Carter fan. I think Trump's comments usually suck. However did he really say this or not?? I want proof.

Jose Abreu settles with Sox for $13 million
I think he deserves 16 million this season.

Who is your opening day starter?
Not to be a jerk, but anybody but James Shields. So I voted for Miggy.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 05:35 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/11/politics/tru...ttom/index.html Trump hits the rock bottom of his presidency (so far) Mia Love (R-Utah and Haitian-American) The congresswoman, one of the few Republican lawmakers who called out Trump, continued: This behavior is unacceptable from the leader of our nation. My parents came from one of those countries but proudly took the oath of allegiance to the United States and took on the responsibilities of everything that being a citizen comes with. They never took a thing from our federal government. They worked hard, paid taxes, and rose from nothing to take care of and provide opportunities for their children. They taught their children to do the same. That’s the American Dream. The President must apologize to both the American people and the nations he so wantonly maligned. Too bad we can't fire Donald for his remarks. Saying other countries are s***holes would be fireable offenses if you or I tweeted that. We'd be representing our companies and bye bye. Don is representing all of us but we can't fire him. That'd be a cool question at the press briefing of his spokesperson and/or right to Donald. It's a fair question. Mr. Trump should you be fired for your remark? Would you fire one of your employees of a business or your TV show for such a remark?

Oprah For President
Just read a juvenile article in USA Today begging for Oprah to run. If it is an Oprah-Trump battle is it time for all "real" politicians to give it up forever? I mean cmon, if we have an all Hollywood battle for president next time, we might as well switch to a King/Queen system of government. How bout Biden folks?? A real candidate. I assume Trump is running, but if not, how bout some young up and coming Republican politico. There must be one somewhere who is not a clown. The Oprah story was high school-ish in terms of how it was written. How beloved she is and how her being a billionaire doesn't matter cause as talk show host for 20 years she helped so many people. I'll take Oprah over Trump but cmon, what has our political system come to? Could Biden or Bernie beat Oprah for the Democratic nomination or would they get buried? Probably buried.

White Sox acquire Joakim Soria, Luis Avilan and $3 Million
QUOTE (ron883 @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 02:53 AM) When has Abreu ever hit when it matters? Great rookie campaign. Since then, he constantly craps the bed when the sox are in the playoff hunt.once they are out and the pressure is off, he hits again. He had the best year of his career (minus his rookie year, but the league figured him out and adjusted to him after tgat) when the sox were clearly tanking and had no expectations. Add that to his poor defense, and you get a massively overrated player around these parts. DA uses this logic to hate on soria, but he would never do it to his boy Abreu Ron, he was not being serious in his ripping Abreu, but you are being serious. What player in Sox history has had the numbers consistently that Abreu has put up? He's been so consistent it's scary. He's a great hitter and a stupendous clubhouse guy yet fans on here would get rid of him in a minute if we could get more prospects. Prospect means you ain't done it yet.

That's cool the thread is reopened. It proves there can be dissent on soxtalk. Dick Allen and I are not fans of Soria it is apparent.

White Sox sign Miguel Gonzalez
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 07:57 PM) And you wonder why people think you're a troll. Stop trolling, and maybe people will stop calling you a troll. And FYI his peripherals aren't very good, which is why he's a 5th starter on a one year 4.5 million dollar deal. Best case the Sox flip him for a lotto ticket in July. I wasn't trolling. I was sarcastically making a point that I'm not thrilled about bringing back Miguel. I think we're still allowed to moan and groan a bit on here. It's been a while since Sox have made a move I've loved, simply loved. I wasn't really into drafting Burger and we know how I feel bout Soria, etc. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 08:01 PM) Greg, parking is $20. Only $10 on Sundays though. At least it's not 22 dollars. You can flip them a 20 spot and be on your way. I think parking at a major sporting event should be 10 bills. No more. I realize that's dreaming but any more is an insult to my wallet.

White Sox sign Miguel Gonzalez
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 05:29 PM) I read where Shields was in line to start on Opening Day. Probably the worst opening day starter the White Sox have thrown out their since Jaime Navarro. Miguel is OK by me. How were his peripherals before I decide whether he's good or not. I don't despise him or anything. As far as Shields/Opening Day. Geez. If he pitches Opening Day it's telling the world and our fans: "The White Sox wish to tank one more season. Please bear with us as we tank. And please enjoy your 25 dollar parking and 10 dollar beer. We are allowed to charge that while giving you James Shields one more season before we get good. That is all."

Avi Garcia Ranked 8th best RF in MLB
Avi is very likeable. I hope he continues to have seasons like last year because it would be a pleasure for me to continue rooting for him. He's definitely one of my favorite Sox players in recent memory because of his continuing to improve and turning himself into a helluva hitter. He roped the baseball last year. Hope he keeps it up not just to prove haters wrong but because his improvement should inspire other players who emerged at a still young age after putting in the work! Cheers to Avi.

Oprah For President
So far the celebrity candidates. ... -- The Rock and Tom Hanks ticket. Saturday Night Live skit. -- Oprah. -- Trump. Others who should run if we're doing the celebrity thing. ... -- One of the Baldwins. -- Meryl Streep -- Rush Limbaugh -- Jesse Ventura (wrestling) -- Chris Wallace (seems like a smart guy) -- Whoopi Goldberg -- Meghan McCain -- Jimmy Kimmel -- Tony Robbins -- Amy Schumer -- Arnold Schwarzenegger -- Al Franken (he can attack the allegations head on and if cleared continue to run) This celebrity interest in politics and the country's fascination with having celebrities lead our land probably isn't going away in this day and age of Twitter, so bring 'em on.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 01:16 AM) I'm pretty sure you've said numerous times that you voted for somebody but you did not want to reveal the name other than to say it was not trump, Hilary or The Body. Maybe I'm lying so I don't have to admit voting for Ozzie.
