QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 02:57 PM) A few days later, Dabo Swinney apologized to his team for his comments, for being a distraction and possibly breaking up team unity. https://sports.yahoo.com/news/clemson-lb-da...-201439371.html I didn't see that. When I have time I'll watch it. I assume he's mad at himself for doing the same thing the kneeling during the anthem does, take away from the team aspect of football. Like he said you don't want one person out on an island in a team sport. What Dabo did say in his first clip was instead of kneeling why not discuss it in a set-up press conference format, a town hall type meeting? QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 03:40 PM) Some people just refuse to open their ears and listen instead of being just told what to think. Your uncle is being told what to think?? Why? Cause he disagrees with you? Don't really understand that line. Whether Kap likes it or not millions of people do think kneeling during the anthem is disrespecting the military. So yes he disagrees with you. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 05:51 PM) Being a silent c**n and learning his place. Come on now man, it's obvious. Damn. I'd give you some time off for that. Too many things wrong with that post. I think an athlete can protest all he wants away from the stadium or by holding a news conference with several other players or town meeting just to discuss issues. It's the consummate team sport. Why have a QB draw all this attention to himself on game day on a matter that has nothing to do with football? And in the process he picks a forum that offends military. Real smart when the NFL is so tied into pre-game activities that involve the military: flyovers, rolling out of the flag on the field, etc. I was talking to a guy who said he flat out stopped watching NFL over all this. Said you disrespect the military, that's it for him and that sport. Interesting.

I now am a Dabo Swinney fan. He doesn't care about PC in his answer on the anthem. So maybe I'm not the only one who doesn't like anthem protests. I like the way Swinney calls for Colin to protest in a different way. And like me he mentions the team part of all this. Breaking up team unity with one guy breaking away.
  3. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 09:25 PM) The article is from Snopes, they're known as fact checkers and well respected by pretty much everyone. What further substantiation do you need? I said he wins the argument in a debate format. He's the winner. However, I see what I see. I know what I know.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 12:48 AM) Georgia's coaching staff being dominated. Why not call timeouts to give yourself time to answer and score? Kicking the long FG was laughably dumb. Michel and Chubb only having 8 combined carries is a joke with how easily they've ran the ball. Twitter hammering Lincoln Riley. Just killing him. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 12:53 AM) Georgia is not....not good The Bulldogs may not be good but they are not half bad. I can't believe Twitter was just killing Lincoln Riley for not passing the ball more in the OTs. Then Georgia wins on a 30 yard run in OT. Just.Win.Baby or get killed on social media.
  5. I read what you copy and pasted Iwritecode. I can buy that. You have supported your stance well. In a debate I'm sure your evidence, if the article was substantiated as true and correct, would deem you the victor in any debate with me on this.
  6. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 31, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) There is a term for it. It's called "the blue car syndrome". The basic premise is that if you buy a blue car, then you suddenly notice a lot more other blue cars on the road. It doesn't mean that everyone suddenly went out and bought a blue car, you just never noticed before. This is the exact same thing you are experiencing. People didn't stop saying Merry Christmas. You are just more hyper aware of it because you think Trump had something to do with it. I can accept your post as a very good one and intelligent, not like many of those blasting me. I don't completely agree with the premise because what my perception is, is I feel, a true perception. To tell you the truth the reason I first posted anything about Merry Christmas was somebody else mentioned to me how they noticed the change this year and it spurred me to say, "Definitely, me too." I don't know if it's all the blue car syndrome and I am me and know what me sees and hears.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 29, 2017 -> 08:46 PM) She has stated that she trains as a boxer. My assumption is that she is likely in very good shape. When adrenaline kicks in, people can also do surprising things. I don't see any reason she couldn't have fended him off for 10 minutes. I agree. This story is so troubling. I hope justice is served here. Horrible story. She must have been terrified and nobody came to help her either.
  8. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 30, 2017 -> 06:27 PM) Awesome. I love these trips down memory lane....seems we're reliving the lost 2006 season. Can't wait to discuss the poor base running by Jerry Dybzinksi in 1983 and if Hoyt should have come back for game 4 (NO, LaRussa made the right call, Burns pitched an absolute masterpiece that the Sox offense farked up....shoulda been a 1-0 Game 4 win and then Hoyt beats MacGregor in Game 5 and Sox win the 83 World Series....at least that's how I see it in my mind. There is no question we SHOULD have won it all that year in 1983. OK, Dybzinski simply blew that game. There is no way he gets hung up on the basepaths like that. There is NO fricking way Hoyt loses the fifth game. LaRussa cannot be second guessed cause Britt Burns pitched a damn shutout. Dybber is perhaps the biggest goat in Chicago sports history and he has escaped the wrath of fans forever. What he did is WAY WORSE than what Bartman did to the cubs. Dybber cost the Sox a WS title. There's no way Hoyt loses. No way!!! BTW, picking up Ichiro makes zero sense right now. None. Even as a pinch hitter. Make him a coach. I'd be all for that.
  9. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 07:51 PM) Greg - it's mainly that you think this is an important issue. The war on Christmas is a joke. There are Christmas trees everywhere, every year, there are Christmas lights and decorations all over the country, in stores and otherwise. TV shows have Christmas episodes. Networks still air Rudolph. Any "attacks" on Christmas are pushes for inclusion. Hey, in addition to a Christmas tree, let's have a Menorah! Instead of wishing a customer a Merry Christmas, let's wish them Happy Holidays in case they don't celebrate Christmas! Who is hurt by any of that? There are people in this country who are actually discriminated against. The fact that you (a) think people couldn't say Merry Christmas before; (b) think now people can say Merry Christmas; and © that this is all a victory for Trump is mind boggling. Not a bad post Illini. At least you are trying to get me. I do disagree with your opening and closing sentences though. You don't have my position down completely. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 29, 2017 -> 03:37 AM) Greg, you are right in the fact that people cannot tell you what you have experienced. If you have noticed more people saying Merry Xmas, good for you. If you want to give Trump props for it, good for you too. I don't even give a flying f*** anymore. Thanks Kagaku. Finally somebody acknowledges Greg's point! Thank u sir. That's all I'm trying to say. I have noticed it more this year, much more in my experience. That's all. I did not try to make this a majestic issue for Trump. I've given Trump some props for it, yes. By doing that I'm now a Trump lover. Some people on this board are very intolerant of others' positions. Thank u for recognizing that greg actually MIGHT have noticeda difference this year. The others are very intolerant. They are calling me a liar at worst; a simpleton who is incapable of noticing differences at best. Thank u. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 29, 2017 -> 04:10 AM) Literally nothing changed. It was a way to band together evangelicals against a common enemy. Just wait until those people want business closed on sundays, I wonder if THAT will get as much support. How do you know what I experienced in terms of noticing a change? Do you say I'm flat out lying? Why would I do that on a message board. Do u suggest I am incapable of observation? How come some of you don't like to discuss issues just jump on the person (me) with the non-majority viewpoint?
  10. I can't believe how much you guys speak for me how do you know what I know how do you know what I see if I think I've heard merry Christmas More this year I think it's a good chance I've heard merry Christmas More this year you guys are lumping me in with everybody else that you hate very weird I'm telling you my experiences. You wont accept them
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 06:13 PM) You have to give them credit. They were able to convince a bunch of uneducated, ignorant people that this was an actual thing. Never mind that I actually noticed more people saying merry Christmas this year. I'm uneducated and ignorant though. Oh well another issue I lose on the board
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 11:32 PM) greg, where did you get the idea that there was a war on christmas and thats its now "ok" to say Merry Christmas? Honest question. Through personal observation. Year after year I never heard "Merry Christmas" uttered anywhere except on Xmas Day at church. Or I never heard in weeks/days leading up to Christmas, the words "Have a merry christmas." There was literally no mention of Christmas. None. Now this is personal observation. Contrary to what is stated on here, when I heard "Happy Holidays" or "Have a happy holiday" I never got mad or thought, "Dammit, say merry christmas!" I did however make a mental note of this and went on my merry way, no pun intended. Suddenly this year, I happened to catch some of the controversy about Trump going nuts ,even saw the clip of him saying "Merry Christmas" is back. I may have read a thread on here ripping Trump for it or something as well. I didn't think much about it, then I start hearing "Merry CHristmas" or "Have a merry christmas" at some restaurants, coffee shops, SW Airlines on a few different flights. I can guarantee you I never heard it on SWA before. I thought to myself, "Damn, Trump must have had an effect on this." I actually in my mind credited Trump for something. I didn't go run around screaming, "Glory be! Christmas is back!" It wasn't that big a deal as some on here make it out to be for me. It was something I did notice and approve of. It did not affect me saying "Merry CHristmas" to anybody as I've been trained in PC well enough to not go there. I finally returned the Merry CHristmas the other day and it felt very very weird coming out of my mouth. To me, these all were holiday observations, not a huge deal. I didn't scream to the heavens, CHRISTMAS IS BACK, THANK U MR TRUMP" I just noticed it which has really really bothered some on here. To me it was a sequitir not a non sequitir in that because I NOTICED A CHANGE and Trump had spoken out, I deduced perhaps Trump had something to do with it. IT has been pointed out to me Obama also said it. That is good. I like that. But I do not recall Obama going on a tirade saying we all should say Merry Christmas, hence I have not credited Obama enuf for some people on here. In conclusion ... thank you for your question. I want to know what about my response(s) make me the scumbag I'm being portrayed to be. I think it stems from nobody believes me and also because i listen to Rush and Hannity on occasion in the car for brief periods of time I am considered to be their disciples/clones. Continue to flame me, I'm used to it.
  13. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 07:44 PM) You would love for you to say your piece without anyone replying. Sorry buddy, that's not how it works. Your words have consequences. I'm still trying to figure out how my words have turned me into a racist monster who hates all religions besides Catholic just because I a.) think Trump's words about Christmas have indeed changed this a bit to where some people are now saying Merry Christmas where they didn't before and b.) how most people think I am Rush Limbaugh incarnated or protege just because I listen to him in my car when I'm driving to lunch once in a while. Greg has been stereotyped big time. I'd love for people to point out specifically what makes me scum? QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) I think what makes up a person and their experiences is definitely important to a conversation. We do have to be careful on stereotyping and straight dismissals but understanding why someone has an opinion or why their experiences influence their views is incredibly important to understanding one another. Nobody is trying to understand my commentary. I am being dismissed flat out for saying I have noticed a difference this Christmas season in people saying "have a merry christmas to me." So I am basically being called a liar and intolerant of other religions. I feel like this is not me and I could send you recommendations from people backing me and saying I'm not scum, far from it. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 08:40 PM) Since this conversation is about saying the words "Merry Christmas," it is explicitly about religion. If Greg were a black, Muslim woman, I doubt he would think that Donald Trump made it ok to say Merry Christmas again. I do realize Obama said "Merry Christmas." I don't think, in fact I know, he didn't tackle the issue. All presidents have expressed a belief in God so far. I am not trying to compare Obama and Trump. I like Obama. I'd have voted for him over Trump again. I just don't like Hillary. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 10:10 PM) No, Greg would be busy reminding them that his religion is important and theirs isn't. But that's ok because it's right and we should protect his safe space. I'm trying to figure out where I said I hate other religions. I think you see the name Greg on here and see Rush Limbaugh and Hannity which is unfair just cause I listen to them once in a while instead of the Beatles channel when a s***ty Beatles song comes on. I am not Rush Limbaugh. I am not Sean "annoying voice, whinish" Hannity. I am not an animal. I want to know what I said on here has made me one of the biggest scumbags apparently on Soxtalk. I am evil and bad and in real life I am considered normal and nice.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 04:55 PM) It's not just that. It's the underlying issue that is bigger. He's a white, male, christian. He needs to be reminded constantly that he's better than everyone else. That his way of celebrating is better. That his holiday is more important. That's why he "gives credit" for fewer people saying "Happy Holidays" and more people respecting the importance of his celebration. If you even pay attention to New Years, you are a threat! People like this are the biggest safe-space demanding snowflakes. The very idea that anyone would celebrate different from them is a threat that they need to use the government to snuff out. People like that disgust me. Go to church if you want! Go to synagogue! I don't care. Just don't lecture me about why I need to celebrate and venerate your holiday in your way. You guys are very mean. You assume too much. Call me a simpleton or a fool and i'm ok with that. But my posts shouldn't make u think i'm a disgusting human. I really can't see how u assume i am despicable from a few apparently poorly written posts. And yet nobody comes to my defense. I guess i could be trash
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 04:00 AM) You make me want to take my Christmas lights down. I want it to be a holiday where I can celebrate anything I want. You want it to be a holiday where you get to impose your religion on me. Jerks like you are trying to ruin Christmas for me. Happy Christmas jerk. I guess I'm unable to write where people can comprehend so I should give up. I thought I made clear I don't mind anybody who says Happy Holidays to me. I don't know why I'm a jerk. In real life I can assure you I am considered anything but a jerk. I'm not lyin.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 02:53 AM) So, while dealing for Trout, the actual issue is not necessarily that you have to put a fair deal together for Trout. The White Sox could do that with their top 3 prospects and an additional solid piece. We could do that, but that is not the only thing that matters right now. The consideration no one has mentioned yet is Ohtani. The LAA just signed potentially the largest bargain on the free agent market. A guy who will fill a bunch of seats and could well push them into the playoffs if he's everything promised, and he signed with them for like $3 million. So, do you want to tell me, honestly, that the Angels made their pitch to him without saying anything about "We have the best player in baseball in center field" or "We're a playoff team if we add you to our pitching staff and DH slot"? I don't believe that. Which means that, if the Angels did trade Trout, I have to say "How do the Angels do that without hurting their big league team"? That's a huge challenge for the White Sox, it'd be a huge challenge for the White Sox if they still had Sale. So, I have to start with the big leaguers. Abreu and Garcia. These are guys who maybe can contribute to the Halos winning right now. They're not perfect roster fits, but they can win games right now. Then I have to give 2 pitchers who can make the Angels better this year. Giolito and Lopez have to go. That's the place the Angels could do such a move thinking "This will make us better right now". Then the final piece has to be someone who can fit into CF right now. I'm not sure Moncada can do this. I'm not sure Anderson can do this. But they've got to gamble on one of them - Moncada or Anderson, as able to take over CF right now and not be a total disaster. Given the choice? Moncada, Lopez, Giolito, Abreu, Garcia. And that is one, horrible trade for the White Sox. You are giving up literally 2 of the 3 top players in the organization, maybe three if you are a Lopez guy. And two all stars. This trade is horrifically bad if you are a White Sox fan. The Angels should take it in a heartbeat. And the Sox can pay Trout 30 million a year the next 3 years then see him walk.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 07:11 PM) Non Christian people berate others that say Merry Christmas to them? It is funny, you are totally offended by Happy Holidays, but see no reason a non Christian should be the least bit offended by Merry Christmas. Tolerance Greg, tolerance. You do live in the America you dream of. I wouldn't say I'm offended by Happy Holidays. What I do is take notice of "Happy Holidays" when it's really close to Christmas. And sorry I have noticed a difference this year. And it's got to be because of Trump's stance, so I'm giving him credit on one little thing. I do realize he is a pathetic president and all around bad guy and all that. But I'm pretty sure SW Airlines and some of the stores I've been to wouldn't be saying "Merry Christmas" without Trump's edict. At any rate, I don't mind Happy Holidays so much. I just noticed this year when I actually said Merry Christmas to people the words sounded strange coming out of my mouth cause I don't dare go there. I basically don't care. I've made a personal decision to never say Merry Christmas lest I offend somebody. I don't get mad if somebody says happy holidays to me. I'm not a maniacal person. These are just my observations that Merry Christmas returned this year as a greeting and I saw fit to credit Trump.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 07:15 AM) Greg. People arent going to verbally attack you for saying Merry Christmas. More likely the person who is offended will remain silent and politely say it back. You call it the "PC" police, but again, isnt it really just people informing you that maybe you should be aware of what "other" people feel like. How is it even possible to say that there is a "war" on Christmas, when Santa is still at malls, when the Daley Center has a 'Christmas" tree, it has a Christkindelmarket (spelling and there is actually was a second one near Wrigley this year). The idea that there ever was a "war on Christmas" is at best disingenuous and at worst its just a cover for blatantly trying to attack minority religions. Next time when you think about the idea that the majority religion in America is under attack, imagine for a second what it may be like to be a "minority" religion. I will say that one day it would be nice to live in a county where you could say "Happy whateverthef*** you believe in" and not worry that either party would be offended. I dream of America where you could (I won't; like I said I'm trained well and will never go there again) say "Merry Christmas" and the other person could laugh politely and say "Thank you," back to you, then quickly say in an equally friendly tone, "I actually am Jewish and celebrate Hannukah." And then I smile and say well I certainly wish you a happy Hannukah and we both feel good and go on our merry ways. Or vice versa and a person who is Jewish says Happy Hannukah to me and i say, "Thank you, but I celebrate Christmas" and we both smile and chat and go on our merry ways. Instead, I can only imagine the backlash in saying Merry Christmas to somebody who is an atheist or another religion that does not recognize Christmas or Happy Hannukah to somebody who does not celebrate Hannukah. Do you realize how PC the world is? Like I said, Midway Airport today was full of raging angry people who just wanted an excuse to scrap with somebody. there was no holiday spirit in the air, just anger. Trump is the first person to take this on by the horns and tell people to say Merry Christmas. By the way, I'm all for ending Christmas as a gift giving extravaganza. Christmas has little to no religious meaning in the secular world anymore. You can't imagine the spoiled kids I saw this Christmas accepting gift after gift, NFL and NHL jersey after jersey and I yes saw some signs of brattiness of the kids wanting more more more. It's become a ridiculous gift giving extravaganza (I know gifts have been given for years but I feel like part of being a truly entitle Millenial was being showered with so many gifts year after year. I feel each kid in a family should be given one gift in terms of a fun game or toy and some clothes and the family unit take part in a volunteer project instead, then if they are Christian, go to church and worship the true meaning of the holiday. Yes I can say the highlight of Christmas for me was church, the music and the excellent homily from the pastor. I'm sick of the gifts and spoiling the kids year after year with gift after gift. How bout change the culture. Yeah right. Chrstmas is 85 percent gift giving/hoarding and 15 percent religious (taking into consideration the amount of people who believe at all and if they believe the fact they do something about it on Xmas Day). Do any of you agree with me at the gluttony and monstrocity of a gift giving holiday it has become now that more and more people do not believe and/or practice faith??
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 04:50 AM) Greg, Ill agree that more people have said Merry Christmas. Definitely not at starbucks though, seeing as that is against their corporate policy. But I do know someone who works at Starbucks who was accosted by a customer because they said Happy Holidays and the customer demanded that the employee say Merry Christmas. Where I have noticed more Merry Christmas is with clients of mine, the ones who will say things like "They jewed me down"or call asking me to explain how they can legally shoot and kill someone. Even though Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, Ive actually stopped saying it because I find the entire idea inane. Youre in the majority Greg, you literally have no idea what it means for there to be a "war" against your beliefs. I literally had someone this month say that the other party "jewed" them down. Has anyone ever used your religion as a negative adjective, while asking you to fix their problem? Imagine that for a second. And then think that the "war" your fighting is the mere fact people arent being forced to say "Merry Christmas" in order to fit in to the majority. But hey, Happy Holidays, sorry if it offends you. Good post. Maybe it was Duncan Donuts instead of Starbucks. But I've gotten "Merry Christmas" at several stores. BTW I can't remember the last time I initiated a "Merry Christmas" to a stranger. Even this year I've only returned the greeting after it was given to me. I am too frozen by PC myself to dare say Merry Christmas to somebody. I've been trained to fear the repercussions from saying Merry Christmas to some stranger. Because that would be implying I believe they are Christian and they might be anything but Christian. I could receive a reply of "How dare you say Merry Christmas to me when you don't know I recognize Christmas!" So I am not that stupid to every say Merry Christmas to a stranger unless they offer it first. Now if I worked at Starbucks and they made me say Happy Holidays after taking somebody's money, I'd resign. I'd rather not be forced to give a greeting. How dare your clients say "they jewed me down." That's disgusting and I can honestly say I've never heard that from anybody and I wouldn't stand for it if somebody said that in conversation with me. As far as your last line, I'm not offended by somebody saying "Happy holidays" If they say it to me I smile and say thanks. I just like when they say Merry Christmas. Like I said, I gave in to PC and never ever say Merry Christmas to somebody. Why? It's because right now I've been trained by the PC police very well. I'm scared to death to say Merry CHristmas lest the person be an atheist or be in a religion that doesn't celebrate Christmas. To be clear, when they say Merry Christmas to me, I've said it back this season and it feels really weird coming out of my mouth. Now I also do not say Happy Holidays to anybody ever cause I feel like I'm copping out. So I say nothing. Cept now I'll return the "Merry Christmas." What you say about the Jewish insults disgusts me. I can't believe grown adult clients would say such a thing. It's not good.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 01:18 AM) He went years on twitter not saying merry Christmas, but happy holidays. Why do you buy anything this guys sells? He is a con. Interesting. That's hypocritical of him if what you write is true. All I know is this year for the first time in a very long time, I'm hearing Merry Christmas out of the mouths of strangers to me and that is NEW. And I've enjoyed it. It seems more than a coincidence that Trump has given the OK for it and it's happening. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 02:11 AM) Yes, keep in mind, Ivanka converted to Judaism when she married Kushner, that's part of the reason for Trump's historical position. Think about the famous song "Happy Holidays" or how many people wish that to each other...it's NOT because they're afraid to say "Merry Christmas!" it's because Christmas and New Year's are one week apart, so they're just lumped in together so you don't have to make two greetings about each specific holiday. Of course, after Christmas, everyone says "Happy New Year/'s" and not "Happy Holidays," right??? I think if you heard a majority of people saying "Happy Holidays" after X-Mas, you'd have a point. And then this whole thing about Starbucks having "neutral" holidays cups so as to respect all religious traditions and beliefs...well, separation of church and state is an integral belief of the Founding Fathers, is it not? True that Obama mentioned God a lot and said Merry Christmas on TV I think. But Trump has called out the PC folks on this and I think it's made a difference. QUOTE (Quin @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 03:20 AM) Here's the source for Trump's War on Christmas: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix...m=.cba5ed820f97 As for why Greg listens, it's because you shout Christmas above a certain frequency and his ears perk up. Trump is obviously a bad president and as bad a person (just my opinion) as any other rich person used to getting his own way cause of his $$$. But I want to give him credit for this one thing. I feel like people are saying "merry christmas" suddenly this year and it's got to be because he's given the lead on this. Cmon Southwest Airlines wouldn't be doing this if there was any chance of backlash.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 25, 2017 -> 08:25 PM) https://www.yahoo.com/news/tv-ad-thanks-tru...-203029715.html New tv ad thanks Trump for bringing back Christmas http://www.ajc.com/news/pennsylvania-homeo...Rt8b2R9yMuCcwM/ Jesus sign offends homeowners association and one person in PA, surely will be tweeted about soon https://www.yahoo.com/news/t-announces-thou...-205347737.html AT&T announces thousands of Christmas layoffs days after $1000 bonus PR move to influence pending merger I also would like to thank Trump for bringing back Christmas. Say what you want, but I've noticed it this year. Now that Trump said it's OK, Southwest Airlines, store employees, etc., Starbucks have been saying Merry Christmas to me. I've noticed cause I now get to say it back and I like it. I will say for some reason at Midway today people were in s***ty moods. I got yelled at for getting tripped while getting into space No. 31 in the A group on SW and nicked somebody's boot and said, "Sorry." She was furious that I nicked her and she was in space 31 instead of her 35 which I didn't say anything of course as I don't care bout that. Then somebody at the Avis rental place yelled "I was here first!" and I wasn't even trying to go ahead of them. I'm a little puzzled at the Scrooge like behavior today. But anyway, there was a war on Christmas. I haven't said Merry Christmas to a stranger in years til this Christmas since it's now OK to do so. Don't discount the P.C. in America. It's very very bad and this is one thing Trump did that was OK.
  22. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 25, 2017 -> 04:08 PM) Avi, Rodon, Robert, Cease, Rutherford, Collins, Burdi I see what you are doing here, trying to get Trout on the cheap so to speak. You are not putting Eloy in there and you are putting in some guys who "could" conceivably bust soon (Avi, Rodon, Cease, Rutherford, Collins, Burdi), in effect shortchanging the Angels. This is also ridiculous. Our scouts must love these guys so again, giving up on the rebuild for one player is ridiculous. Some of you slay me. Either do the rebuild or don't. Why would you trade so many guys for one player? If you want one star, why did we get rid of Sale, Q? Now that we're doing the rebuild, do the rebuild, don't trade away all these top prospects. Angels would snicker at this particular offer cause it's obvious you're trying to slip Avi, Rutherford, Collins and Burdi in the deal who all could be major busts while throwing them a bone in Robert as Cease also could bust. My package for Trout, who is only under contract thru 2020, which would mean you'd lose him pretty soon anyway: Abreu (whom I love), Cease and Tim Anderson (this would require us drafting a shortstop this year and acquiring an acceptable but not high dollar free agent if we reach contention and need a ss with Timmy gone. I think the Sox could survive my trade and keep the rebuild on track. I was gonna throw Burger in there. I guess I could add him if we keep Davidson around.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 24, 2017 -> 08:52 PM) Moncada/Jimenez/Kopech (pick 2/3) plus Avi plus Abreu plus Fulmer Were you kidding? Those playes are the heart and soul of the rebuild for one player?? Ridiculous and I'm not a rebuild guy. The Angels should take that trade in a second because it's basically the Sox rebuilt team in a nutshell and you're trading them all away in one full swoop.
  24. Merry Christmas to all Sox fans on here. We may disagree on many things but we all want the same thing: the feeling we had in 2005, which was pretty amazing and satisfying. Merry Christmas! p.s.: I about spit out my eggnog when Shields' name came up in the video, and I almost invoked the name of Scrooge when I saw the name "Guaranteed Rate Field" on the stadium, but it was cool video. Was in Chicago for 3 days two night, enjoyed suburbia this time and 10 p.m. Mass and family party on Xmas eve. Lots of travelers at Midway today. I think tons of people have to work Tuesday and it's an awkward positioning of the holiday in the work week this time. Or people are hustling back to go to a second round of parties. People seemed like they were in bad moods at airport. Not sure what that is all about on such a glorious holiday.
  25. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Dec 20, 2017 -> 09:07 PM) Dick Vitale (a Rays season ticket holder) is pretty pissed. He sent out a tweet saying fans aren't paying major league prices to see minor league players. He's not in favor of the tank obviously. I've been preaching this to the choir during the Sox rebuild. It's pretty sad fans have to pay 40 bucks to park a car or whatever it is and 11 bucks for a beer and 18 bucks for a burger, fries and coke and watch a team that's tanking on purpose. Very sad. I wish the fans would boycott during the tank years then come back when the rebuild is complete. It's bogus.
