Official 2016 Soxtalk White Sox win total prediction thread
I guess I didn't predict. I can't believe how many people were so wrong, thinking we'd be good. Well, you guys that thought we'd have a good record probably were counting on LaRoche being on the team. Kidding.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
Back to the topic ... Maybe the Sox have decided there's nobody exciting available out there. Maybe if the Yankees flop in the playoffs they'll fire their manager and we can get him in a year. Let's face it ... If the Sox can only get somebody like a Martinez or Alomar, why bother? That's what they may be thinking. Robin is a poor manager, sure, but why hire some guy who will likely fail and we'd have to give him at least 3 year contract. Until a good one becomes available we keep Robin. Not saying it's right but it may be the issue here. I do wish Robin would work on his deficiencies. Cmon Robin, the four wins on the road vs. the Central HAS to be addressed. The Sox have some decent players. We shouldn't be THIS bad every year. Don't mistake this post. I want Robin gone, but I'm just saying the people available may suck.

White Privilege?
Trouble in Columbia, Mo. A fraternity is suspended cause some members screamed racial insults and got caught doing it on tape. The N word. Seriously ... how can any white person yell that at people? Where do college students develop such hatred? I'm like all of you. I don't look at color ... at all. Why do some people hate their fellow human beings just cause of color?? Sickening. I wonder if Mizzou will still exist in a couple years at this rate.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
Does anybody on soxtalk agree with the move to keep Robin? Does anybody think Robin is capable of fixing the recurring problems prevalent in his Sox teams? I love Robin Ventura and would love in a perfect world for him to return and lead us to pennants. I just don't see logically how he can reverse these areas of s***tiness that plague his teams.

South vs North Korea
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) Here's the thing Greg, I get what you are saying, but men in power only want one thing. Power. If there's no North Korea, there's no power. He is "showing his power" by conducting these tests and pushing the boundaries. His best ally is the us vs. the World scenario. Yes but what about my scenario. Let's say he's told his power is about to be gone. There are N. Koreans outside his mansion and they ARE going to kill him. Doesn't he wanna go down in the history books as the guy who nuked Seoul and started the end of the world?

QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 12:02 AM) Here ya go, greg Just a few pesky statistics to prove we live in the safest time in the history of human kind. Well I guess you guys are right. Even though it seems very very dangerous. Sad that there was a shooting at a school today.

2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) Greg - let's say that Chris Sale throws a complete game, two hitter, with 12 Ks and the Sox lose. The article on the game states that Sale pitched brilliantly in a losing effort. It's a non-opinion piece, but the author used the word brilliant to describe the outing. That's not editorializing. Based on your issues above, however, they should have just put in Sale's line and let the reader infer that the outing was brilliant. Neither is the example above. Trump, unprompted, insulted a beauty contestant's weight. That comment is crude. It is not editorializing to call it that. You present a good argument. But I don't think the writer of the article of the game would say Sale pitched "brilliantly." I think he'd get Robin and others on the Sox and the manager of the other team to say it. Just my take.

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
I had a feeling they might keep him as we stayed 'near' .500 but really thought the performance vs. our Central Division brethren would cause his ouster. I mean ... they don't even INTERVIEW Robin after the season to see how he wishes to FIX this problem? We basically went winless on the road vs. the Central. Four measly fricking wins!!! Somebody ask Hahn about this at Soxfest. "With all due respect, Mr. Hahn, we won four games on the road vs. Central Division teams. That is an abnormally low total for a team that finished near .500. Sir, how could we keep our manager with such a record of ineptitude. Thank you." I have nothing against Robin. I think he knows baseball. But THERE IS A PATTERN here. Dysfunctional losses that we do not bounce back from; horrific play vs. the Central; refusal to acknowledge our guys CANNOT lay down a bunt and overall pretty bad performances on the road. We are a pretty lousy road team. If I felt Robin could correct these flaws I'd be OK with him coming back. But folks, I just don't think he can fix these issues. My main beef is not even meeting with him after the season. We're just gonna sign him for 2 more years or something???? Ridiculous.

2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 04:09 AM) What about the remarks isn't crude? If someone called Bill Self an ugly blowhard, wouldn't you describe it as crude? If someone called Bernadette Gray-Little a fat pig, wouldn't that be reckless? Or do we need to have a right-wing talk radio show confirm it? I think you have to write around it and word it differently. Let the quote speak for itself. In a non opinion piece why throw in your opinion? My point is this is how they get Hillary to win by a landslide. It's not fair.

2016 Democratic Thread
LOL it's just as I predicted. Everybody says Hillary won. All the "legit" cable outlets, newspapers, etc. There's absoultely no proof of her winning. You can spin it any way you want and the media is spinning it as "well prepared Hillary" shuts up mean ol Trump who kept interrupting her of all things! LOL. You ever watch a political TV show? Except for Meghan McCain's show, all they do is scream over each other. And Trump is seen as evil for doing this and Hillary the great shrugged it off and WON!! She is the clear cut winner. No matter there is no proof she won. She in fact was so boring it's hard to comprehend. But she's already been deemed a modern American hero for her epic debate performance vs. the INTERRUPTOR! Give me a fricking break please. And the pundits say how could Trump not attack Hillary on Emails, Benghazi, her husband's infidelities. And if he'd have done that it woulda been WE DO NOT WANT A PRESIDENT that rude! How dare he mention those things! Round Two ... more of the same, then Round Three the heavy knockout punch. The media will beat Trump into submission with the KO after debate three. And in reality ... the debates will all be boring ties. VOTE JESSE VENTURA!

2016 Republican Thread
This is an example of the bias against Trump. This is in a news story on CNN.com not an opinion piece. ... The sentence says: "With no apparent consideration for the political recklessness of his crude comments, Trump once again went after Machado's physical appearance, bringing her up on his own." The writer said the comments were "crude" and says they were politically "reckless." Says who? This is how you can tell the writer of the story favors Hillary over Trump. And don't get me started with the TV folks like Chris Matthews. He basically issued a love letter to Hillary making sure he had the first crack at who won the debate. He screamed that it was a shutout with HIllary hitting five home runs to Trump's none. Cmon Chris. Any Trump supporter could point to five zinger lines Trump had that would look good as soundbites as well as Hillary's. If Hillary won, it was by a very very small margin. The bias amazes me.

Has this horrid season been worth the pain just because of the emergence of Anderson? He's still hovering around .280 which is nice.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) By the way, I should make one thing clear. I am 1000% not voting for Trump. My only debate is do I actually associate my vote with Hillary or do I write in a candidate. So technically, Hillary was speaking to me or someone like me in the audience. My current prevailing wisdom is I disagree with her on too much policy related matters (not to mention I have zero trust in her) to give her my vote and thus will write-in a candidate. Great post. I will write in Jesse Ventura. It's pretty obvious Hillary is going to win. She doesn't need to do anything. It's likely to be a landslide, but if it's not it's obvious she has enough support to eke out the electoral thing. You wait, the election will be over this time by 10 p.m. eastern time on election night. This is a coronation not an election.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 03:31 AM) I thought America lost tonight. Embarassing on both sides. Yes, I'm a republican but I think we have the two greatest scum possible running for the highest ranking position in our government. Hillary came off as rude and condescending herself (not that Trump isn't rude too). At least she says more about building our economy then Trump, with a focus on creating jobs vs. Trump 100% focused on stopping jobs from leaving (vs. doing anything around real actual growth...certain jobs can leave, as long as better, higher paying jobs (in greater fold) can replace them. Common sense we should attack things from multiple angles and I don't disagree with Trump on certain points as it relates to our trade deals, I just can't deal with his total absolutes as it relates to everything because it means I have zero idea what he actually plans on doing. I also don't actually think Donald is a racist, although he has certainly played up that card in certain instances, I don't think for one second he is a racist (just my personal belief). Either way I won't vote for either of these clowns. Romney will probably get my 3rd straight vote (twice written in...cause why change my trend now, haha). You are a very very smart man. But hey as far as the winner? Just ask Chris Matthews. It was HILLARY. She mauled Trump. Election ... OVA.

Poll: Are you still watching games?
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) Kept up my usual trajectory. April - super hyped, live and die with every game May - still hyped (this is new territory in the last 4 years) June - paying attention, but starting to see who they really are July - paying less attention August - occasionally look up highlights, keep up with key players Sept - Don't care at all, despise the franchise and promise I'll stop supporting them April 2017 - spend $400 on opening day tickets, rinse repeat. I check the box scores and tonight actually watched the highlights, but no, I haven't been watching. I am really only watching Anderson's BA and his strikeouts vs. walks in the box scores. Very sad the Sox have sucked the last 3 years. April: like you super hyped. Also live and die every game. May: same as April. June: same as April. July: very sad but watching as much as I can. August: very sad, have given up, watch some. Sept: haven't watched at all. Extremely sad. Very sad winter is near as well. Could care less about Cub postseason. hope they lose.

South vs North Korea
QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) Is there anything you're not afraid of? I'm not afraid, I'm just making observations and my observation is N. Korea WILL start a nuclear incident. Whether it's a nuclear war or not, who knows. If they toss a nuke at Seoul and it kills millions and screws up the environment I'd think we'd blow North Korea off the map. Then it's up to China and Russia if they want to get involved and fire up a nuke or two at us. So this is serious business. Kim Jong-Un is not to be trusted. The second he senses he's about to be assassinated, why wouldn't he make sure S. Korea has a nuke or two to deal with as his legacy?

QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) meanwhile, in reality, there's statistically never been a better, safer time to be alive than now. So... How the hell could that be true? Our country is DANGEROUS.

September 25th Game Thread: ChiSox at Indians
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) It would be so White Sox if they come home and go 7-0 for 81-81. Leave 'em thinking you're close to competing. With all due respect, that ain't going to happen. I'd say 2-5, maybe 3-4.

South vs North Korea
QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 08:24 PM) Nope. What does he have to lose? Why not bring nukes into the equation if you are N. Korea's leader?
-
South vs North Korea
North Korea to me seems to be the place that starts the next huge mess. North Korea has threatened to wipe out Seoul with a nuke. If the North Korean leader feels like he's about to be over-run and assassinated I could definitely see him wanting to go out of this world in a blaze of glory, i.e. lob a nuke or two at South Korea. What happens environmentally after that, with fallout of a nuke being detonated in a major city, as well as the response of others could trigger the end of the world as we know it. What if the USA then blows North Korea off the map so to speak in an act of war vs. N. Korea? Then are both N and S Korea inhabitable? Does China get involved and blow up some U.S. city in Hawaii? I just see North Korea's leader being the guy who gets the ball rolling on mass destruction eventually. he's going to feel like somebody in North Korea wants to over-run him and he's going to, before he gets assassinated, do some major destruction. Do you at least agree with me that Kim Jong-Un is gonna be the guy who before he dies fires a nuke a S. Korea or the USA? I think HE WILL. http://www.cnn.com/videos/world/2016/09/23...ncocks-lklv.cnn
