  1. As a Howard Stern fan, I like the fact Howard is getting so much pub today. Has anybody ever heard a Stern interview?? Trump has been on the show dozens of times. LOL. Keep giving Howard pub, people. I find it very humerous everybody's trying to nail Trump on this harsh sex talk when Bill Clinton is out there and women are out there ready to talk about Mr. Clinton. Why don't media outlets want to make history and break stories on Clinton's exploits and possible misdeeds? There's a lot of possible material, at least a lot of things to pursue aggressively. Just as Trump is an easy mark to get some dirt on; so is Bill. But Bill is escaping this scrutiny? LOL. And going to Howard's show for tapes on Trump? Please. I think Stern is a genius and his interviews are awesome. http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/08/politics/tru...tern/index.html
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 07:41 PM) Can the mods please ban Greg for this Chelsea Clinton nonsense? It's some of the most pathetic trolling I've ever seen on this site. Why would you ban somebody for a strong opinion? How the heck do you know that scenario won't happen. Quick scenario: Hillary has 8 years to get Chelsea involved. After second year, Chelsea gets diplomatic job, either in charge of health care overhaul/improvement or some foreign policy stuff. Second term Hillary steps up her involvement. The only thing Chelsea will not have is experience as an elected official; that will be difficult to pull off. So what? Trump had none. For you to dismiss this idea and want to ban me over a reasonable theory suggests extreme sensorship. How do you know what I suggest is untrue? You think she isn't a prime contender to get involved in Presidential politics when her two parents each had 8 year terms and she has a stellar record as a citizen/person?? She's a prime candidate for the future. Her lack of political experience means NOTHING (see Trump, Jesse Ventura when he got started in Minnie).
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 11:56 PM) I want off of this ride https://mobile.twitter.com/billpruitt/statu...872190587998209 Rumor is that there are two more big drops to come this month, one on par with "grab em by the p****" and one even worse. You guys never give Greg credit for predicting all this. The fake media scrutiny of Hillary when it doesn't matter; the intense scrutiny of the Republican candidate when it does matter, down the stretch. Like Letterman said, it will be a landslide, just as Greg said as well. Did anybody think Trump was a gentleman weeks ago? Hillary does win in one regard, although it will be a bit embarrassing for her to hear these things. Trump will go out in a blaze during the final debates. It will be all about Bill's sexual misdeeds and alleged misdeeds. Get ready, Trump has nothing to lose. And Trump won't be caring that Chelsea is in the crowd as he said before as the reason for not bringing it up. Hillary will just say, "I'm not responding to personal attacks about my family members. If anybody made mistakes we'll leave it at that."
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 04:54 PM) This whole election is a fugazi. I can't even get myself to pay attention anymore. Everyday there's leaks on both candidates. Trump said some lewd or insensitive stuff 10 or 20 years ago, everybody acts all shocked and outraged. Clinton has some leak showing hypocrisy or shady business and it just gets spin zoned into it doesn't not matter. This is who he is. That is who she is. I am not sure anything he said in the last 20 years would really surprise me. I am not sure any time the veil is pulled on her it could surprise me either. We have big mouth business scumbag and lifelong bought out politician scumbag. I just want to fast forward to election day so we could start the HRC presidency and end all the faux outrage. Few comments. First of all great post. It's actually true. First Trump: The only thing that surprises me is he ran for President knowing he's done a lot of dirtbag things and said a lot of bad stuff in the past. I have a friend who became a great judge who wouldn't even have more than one drink in college because he knew he might want to be a judge or enter politics and was determined to be a saint in his personal life. He knew anything he did could come back to haunt him. Trump had to know the media would be on a 24-hour a day seven day a week quest to get EVERYTHING he's done that is sleazy regarding women and unscrupulous regarding his business dealings. Yes he's slime, if I'm allowed to call him that. He's a rich selfish ruthless egomaniac. Of course he shouldn't be running. All this stuff was bound to come out with more to come I'm sure. I still think he might throw in the towel BEFORE election day. All he had going for himself was the fact he wasn't a politician. That still has some allure. America needs a Trump/Fiorina type to take over, but not one that is personally flawed (Trump) or such a business failure (Fiorina). Trump looked good to voters who wanted somebody outside of politics, but the fact he wasn't a politician was his only allure. But ... Hillary. I won't go through everything cause you've heard it all from me before. Suffice it to say she is a miserable person and candidate. She just is. But like Rabbit said, it's time to start the HRC Presidency and Chelsea presidency and get the 16-year run over with. You folks that think Hillary is great need to look in the mirror and realize, yes, Trump is a horrific person and candidate but Hillary is also very very very bad in both her personal life and political life. 16 years of Clintons to come is a bad idea, America. p.s. I do think it will be funny if Trump drops out. Whoever got the tape of this interview from 10 years ago hit the jackpot. It will further the concept of Hillary's coronation/lifetime achievement award of the Presidency. This is the one he'll have a hard time surviving.
  5. I thought that was dumb a lot of people were picking the Giants after that lucky Gillaspie homer and 3-0 win. They were going by the every other year thing and the fact they had pitching to do it. The fact is they won an extra inning game and would not have Baumgartner til game three. The only way I saw SF having a chance is if Madison could have pitched Game One and that was impossible. Cubs still had home field and a far superior llineup and roster. The pundits must feel stupid right now falling for the Giants hype off one playoff game vs. the Mets. Sure the Giants coulda got lucky in a five game series had they pulled out Game One and had Baumgartner available in Game Three, but Cubs are far superior team and have home field. Nobody should have been picking the Giants. And Cubs have great advantage in any 7 game series coming up cause of talent. Maybe homefield will help the Indians in the WS vs. the Cubs but that's the only advantage any team possibly has against them.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 03:17 AM) Greg, your boys are up 56-0 at half. The QB broke the school record for tds and apparently only needed 1 half to do it. Thank u. I was busy tonite and couldn't watch. What team was that they were playing? I never heard of 'em. St. Joseph?? Is that Pingatore's school?

QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) You didn't answer the question(shocking). How is is harming them? Or are now we talking about trigger warnings and safe spaces? Are you serious? I thought I answered the question pretty well. That wasn't a direct answer? I said how it harms them. They treat them anthem with great respect at all times as well as the flag. To not stand at attention I would think would offend many since they treat the anthem with great respect.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 04:48 AM) With how poorly he pitched last year for us in big games, I don't want to see it. He wouldn't last five innings. Cubs would bash Samarjia.
  9. Giants have no chance. It will be a sweep as a matter of fact. San Fran does not have the team. Anemic lineup. Cubs have bruisers. Cubs roll. Sweep.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 08:02 PM) Of these issues, I believe the highlighted is the only one he actually is in control of - and I have no idea why you think the economy is down. Cause everybody is hurting. I don't know many people who are not living paycheck to paycheck. There is a crisis in the economy. There are the poor. There is the middle class, which is really hurting. And there are the one percenters. The economy blows, folks. I don't know anybody with any money. Health care is exactly like Bill Clinton said. Expensive as hell and reduced benefits. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 08:18 PM) The economy is still pretty bad for segments of the population, and we seem to be trending towards a bigger split between haves and have-nots with not as much of a robust middle class any more. So for those people, the economy still sucks in ways that the DJIA or GDP or baseline employment numbers might not reflect. Amen. The economy blows. Nobody I know has any money. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 08:24 PM) LOL Violent crime is less than half what it was 15-20 years ago, we're seeing inroads on "social" freedoms like marriage, the economy has done nothing but improve (albeit slowly, that's certainly true) in the last 7 years or so, and far more people have access to real health care now than did before (though prices do continue to skyrocket - that's true). GREG IS HAVING NONE OF THIS!!!!!!! Also as others have pointed out, situations in Korea, China and Russia are not really under the control of the USA, let alone the President themselves. BUT IT'S ALL OBAMA'S FAULT!!!!!!! Seriously, Obama has made some bad decisions and I am all about discussing those. But you watch way too much screamer TV or something, because your idea of what America is today is just not backed by any sort of reality. I simply disagree. Pick any part of America. How bout race relations? We're close to having a civil war over this Black Lives Matters situation. Close to having a war against our police, who are killing people at an alarming rate. Overseas relations? Obama is despised by Russia, China, even the Philippeans. Economy? Please.
  11. Maybe Conor and Beckham can prevent the Cubs from advancing. Too bad Madison can't pitch til Game Four.
  12. Gillaspie smashes the Familia fastball. I hated him as a White Sox. Maybe it's our coaching cause Conor nailed that pitch.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) I think things are pretty damn good right now and getting better. Hillary wants to continue the Obama presidency. Would you vote for 4 more years of Obama? I sure as s*** hope you would. If that's the case, vote Hillary. If not, burn your vote and vote for a guy who can't name one foreign leader or write in someone not running. Your call. I can't believe so many intelligent people want Hillary Clinton. Would I vote for 4 more years of Obama?? Are you kidding me? Our country is in the worst shape imaginable. Social issues, overseas issues with Russia, China and Korea. The economy? My gosh it is AWFUL. And health care??? Give me a break. He is the Robin Ventura of the USA. he has to go and he's going. That said, I love his personality and the fact he's a big Sox fan and fan of all things Chicago.
  14. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 07:07 PM) Anecdotally, I don't know a single person from Kansas who approves of Brownback. He won reelection less than a year ago cause of the R by his name.

QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) Kneeing during the anthem is harming the military...how? It makes a mockery of their solemnity during the playing of the anthem. They are standing at attention, respecting the flag and the anthem and others are protesting. It belittles those who consider the anthem sacred.
  16. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) My best friend and mentor at work is voting for Trump, even though he hates him, has consistently called himself a libertarian, etc but he hates Hillary at a Greg-level. I just don't understand how he isn't going to vote for Johnson, but man party lines are so strong. I honestly don't know who I'm voting for yet, it won't be Trump or Stein, that much I know. Party lines are strong but this will be the second election in a row I don't vote my party, Republican. Greg haters still won't give me props for voting my conscience over party. I despise Hillary of course, but can't vote for Trump. And like I told u I voted for Obama cause, well, how could any sane person vote for Romney. I guess eight years of this means maybe I am not a Republican anymore. I don't know what I am, cause I certainly didn't vote for the Republican idiot running the state of Kansas, Brownback. I don't know anything about Johnson. I guess I could learn.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) You seriously don't live in the same world as the rest of us. It's absolutely incredible. Well, there are organized protests that get messages out. Some people on here who are blasting me seem to be up for spontaneous protests. If you want yourself or your kid to get arrested and never hold a job again, go ahead and encourage that. Why is kneeling during the anthem an effective protest? Like I said, you are harming a group, the military, that has nothing to do with this. The anthem is their solemn song. If you doubt that, look at them during the anthem. What's wrong with a legal protest. Again, if you do otherwise you may never work again with a big fat blotch on your police record. No employer is gonna give a good job to somebody with a record.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 06:06 AM) And the loser might get interested in Quintana (though you'd hope the Dodgers would as well) There's no way in hell the Sox are trading Sale or Q. The Sox have always valued starting pitching and trading those two would assure the Sox a 45 to 50-win season. We'd lose literally every series we play in. Reinsdorf is not getting any younger. A lot of his friends have already moved on to the next life. He knows he's aging and doesn't want 50 win seasons, folks. He wants rings!!! I wish they'd just release Shields, by the way, before they are tempted to give him a shot in spring training, etc. The Sox are going to do what they always do, try to piece together a contender. They have to avoid signing worthless players while keeping their good ones. Why in the hell do they insist on signing mediocrity like Melky, Lawrie, Rollins and horrific catchers?. If you are gonna sign guys, make sure they are good players. Uh, can't scouts scout anymore??? Shields? Give me a break. Everybody should be fired over that move. Ditto Rollins. He was done.
  19. Are Illinois fans mad Kansas got a commitment from Markese Jacobs? He's supposed to be the next Sherron Collins.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) Pray tell... what is the correct way to protest in greg's world? The idea of protest is to get attention to your cause so that change can happen. Well, I'm OK with organized rallies to protest. Get the permit, tell the police you are doing it kinda protest. Why go after the national anthem when the military is so solemn about the anthem?
  21. I wish we could start over here and all praise Robin. He's one, class act.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 01:48 AM) Greg, you are gonna love the NBA season It's not the right way to protest. So the message is pretty much going to be a majority of NBA players hate the USA. Beautiful.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 11:54 PM) Reports out that HRC put a 10M bounty on journalist Assange. If this is the bombshell it won't hurt Hillary at all. a.) nobody will believe it. b.) nobody likes Assange and will figure he made it up. Hillary in a landslide.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) My brother pointed something out to me. When Robin played, I really wasn't nearly the fan a lot of others were. We called him the Boy Wonder, and on occasion the Boy Blunder. I liked him, but I really didn't appreciate him as a player all that much. The weird part is many of those who just loved him as a player, hated him as a manager. I didn't love him as a player (although looking back, he was better than pretty good) and had no problem with his managing. I was a big fan of Robin the player. He was pretty damn good.
  25. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 05:45 AM) He led the team to the worst winning pct in franchise history. The criticism is well deserved. There were plenty of mistakes he made he never learned from. I'm not about to go back through every game thread to find poor in game decisions he made but they were common. Navarro dogged it plenty of times. Lengthy DL stints by certain players. He was a big part of the reason those two situations became issues that ended up being covered by the national media. Too passive to take charge and put guys in their place. It's why all the players will always say he's a good guy. He wouldn't tell them anything they don't want to hear. This was a Robin appreciation thread. We couldn't make it through two pages without criticism? Hey our front office blows chunks. Robin had to go to war every day with a bunch of bums (in baseball sense). Like we pointed out he had to be let go, but there are plenty of good things to say about Robin. As far as the good guy thing, he followed Ozzie, who basically had no supporters at the end except greg.
