QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 02:49 AM) Morneau had just two at-bats again tonight, with a K. Then pulled again for a PH. They seem to be taking it very slow and carefully with him. Assuming he'll be ready soon might be too aggressive, albeit hopeful. At the very least, he's got to prove he can make it through 4-5 AB's in a game. What was his injury? Is it the concussion thing?

Like somebody posted a day or so ago I'd give the Sox odds of making the playoffs about 12 percent.
-
Another home game that has been awful. At least the Sox could give everybody a free beer or coke for watching this s***.
-
The Melkster didn't play that right, did he? You need to take off and run hard upon ground ball contact. Oh well. We needed a 3 run homer there to have a chance tonight.

QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 01:47 AM) Why are none of our hitters working the count? I wonder why in the minor leagues they don't perform an experiment. One night before bringing up somebody like Anderson I'd bat him eighth or ninth and tell him, "Tonight you will take every pitch, just to actually see what it's like to look at pitches from a live pitcher." I mean at some point guys who don't walk are going to have to learn how to take a pitch or they will not succeed. If they simply refuse to draw walks, I'd force them once in a while in the minors to take pitches to see what it's like. I love Anderson but he's not gonna succeed with this approach against big league pitching.

I picked Dick Allen vs. Caulfield cause it's so perplexing. Caulfield seems like one of the nicest guys ever. At least that's my message board perception and Dick seems like a more aggressive kind of nice guy but a nice guy as well. But Dick gets after Caulfield a lot. It's a "funny" fighting rivalry. I was gonna say "the entire board vs. Greg" as I don't feel like I have any real, actual supporters of my positions or me even. Caulfield and Fathom are the most civil toward me, while there are a few that really despise me. Believe it or not I know the names when I see the threads but I can't just pick out the names. I know quin seems to hate me but I think there was one post where he said I was OK. Anyhow, I go for Caulfied vs. Dick Allen. I thought Fathom vs. the Cubs was creative and funny.

One thing about the Durant thing I've missed. Could Oklahoma City have paid him as much the next two years as GSW? My obvious guess is 'yes' with the new cap space, etc., but I was wondering. I'm still very shocked about this. I'm trying to figure out what Durant was thinking in spurning OKC for GSW if money was the same basically. Durant and Westbrook should have won this year. So much for the "can't win in OKC argument." They simply blew that series. If they stayed healthy next year, it probably would have been OKC's turn. Reading Durant's article he said he needed this personally to leave his comfort zone and go play somewhere else. Assuming he didn't just make that up and means it, I don't know what that means. True he's the mayor of OKC so to speak, but living in his skin isn't exactly "comfortable." His team choked in the playoffs and figured to be one of the favorites in the West next year. All I can figure is he truly believes OKC didn't have the team to beat GSW and the Cavs anytime soon. It sure seems like this was a simple decision of picking Curry/Klay over Westbrook/Oladipo. That's not cool. I think OKC woulda won it next year. This decision means Durant didn't feel the same way.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) That was expected. A lot of Bernie supporters were banking on an indictment. Good for Trump in coming up with another catch phrase that might stick. He's got the very mean, "Crooked Hillary" which has sort of stuck but now the effective, "THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED."

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) Obama had a great two years that involved him completely unf***ing the country in Bush's ruin and going head to head with the pettiest congress ever. No one gives a s*** about Bernie anymore. They cared bout Bernie til the FBI chief killed that today. ... As far as the rest, I look at the big picture. Not to pile on my favorite Sox fan, Barack, but as far as unifying ... during his years we have Ferguson, we have Baltimore, we have near ruination of a great university, Mizzou. Thank goodness this protest bulls*** hasn't even been worse in terms of violence in the biggest cities. Some people think one of these cop out of control incidents vs African American victims is going to result in the big one -- riots in the biggest cities. A lot of you don't even seem too concerned about Chicago murder numbers ... even these have taken place during Barack's years. So many people in Chicago have no reason to behave. Low low paying jobs leaving the hooligans to say, "f*** it, I'm selling drugs and arming myself." And also the big picture suggests horrific economy nationwide and like I said unparalleled mass murder situations. Not blaming Barack for everything, like you said Congress has been disgracefully uncooperative as well, but it's all in Barack's eight years. Personally I think a President needs to work on getting Congress to cooperate and make that a priority, figure some s*** out, be such a leader the other side will want to work with you (nyuk nyuk I realize that's long gone in American politics never likely to return; wait til these Congressians show a desire to "work" with Hillary; we ain't seen nothing yet in terms of uncooperation). What the hell has Barack done in the BIG PICTURE that's been good. Only thing I can think of is be a good example for family values. He's a good dad and husband while having a stressful job. I repeat: The American dream has continued to die under his watch (middle class not making any $$$) and the streets are not safe so to speak.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) I get that but when you have a law that would punish a large amount of people basically doing their job and are not trying to do anything criminal it seems like that law needs to be re-written or incentives rearranged. Can't wait to hear the pundits laugh this one off. This is one where Matthews and the pundits laugh and say; "Like we told you, this was not a big deal. But listen to what Trump did today!!!!! and How bout that nut, Bernie Sanders??"

Look the Olympics are a mess. Rio is dangerous in terms of disease and violence. I believe they should be moved ASAP. Rio should not host these Games. http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/05/sport/rio-ol...rity/index.html

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 09:21 PM) It is funny. I am sure this exact story was written in the 70's about your generation. This was written by a millenial. Yikes.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) Obama is letting off some steam right now I like Obama personally, stemming from his love of the Sox and all things Chicago, but I wish he hadn't been such a lousy President. Whether fair or not, I'll remember his 8 years as totally ruining the economy for the little guy (all companies have downsized; there are no jobs out there that pay squat) and increase of terrorism in America, the movie theatre killings, the TV reporter getting killed on the air, the school shootings and Orlando disaster etc. Again don't get me wrong. Love him personally and would love to meet him/shake his hand and say, "Go WHITE SOX" to him. But he should do the right thing and blast the FBI director and he won't.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) I am about 95% sure that is a bottom of the financial barrel sales job, FWIW. The interview will probably revolve around questions related to how social and public you are, as well as how willing you are to work tireless hours and be told no at 99.9% of the turns. Has the insurance business changed at all? Is it still them hiring somebody who is encouraged to get a huge list of all their friends and try to sell them insurance? Is that how insurance still is sold?

Didn't realize Millenials were THIS bad in the workplace? Anybody agree or disagree with this millenial's story? Ouch http://nypost.com/2016/07/04/im-a-millenni...neration-sucks/

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) He really should just resign. A disgrace of a lawman. We have officially reached 2 levels of laws, one for us, one for politicians. This is a Hall of Fame post in Soxtalk history. Said it simply, but truthfully.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) He really should just resign. A disgrace of a lawman. We have officially reached 2 levels of laws, one for us, one for politicians. The public should demand his firing immediately. The president would overrule it however. He should resign. He laid down his sportscoat for Hillary to walk over the messy pond. FBI ... today you are the laughingstock of a great nation that day by day is losing its "great nation" status because of elitism. s*** people are worried about Trump getting so much power he could be a Hitler, f*** Hillary has the FBI in her corner. What about concerns of her upcoming power??? She's the one potentially with unabashed power. Nobody will touch her not even the feds.

Today is one of the worst days in modern American history (excluding violence and deaths, of course). During a time in history in which Americans are sick of politicians and their bulls***, the FBI acknowledges inappropriate activity by Hillary yet recommends no charges. Just a few days after the attorney general visits with Bill Clinton on a fricking tarmac of all places. Oh my gosh, what has this country come to?? At least the NY Post says it all. FBI's double standard here is outrageous, the paper reports! I am ashamed of America today. If Americans are dumb enough to actually vote for this person, I don't know what to say. Wait I do know what to say. Just as Kansans voted in Brownback for a second term despite his actually being even a worse government official than Hillary, a majority of Americans will actually vote for this woman. Unfricking believable. Where's the pride in our country?? Thanks FBI for one of the worst decisions of all time. It's not what you know, it's who you know, pepole and never ever forget it. And it's all about the elite and their privelege. Hillary should get good n drunk tonight. This FBI decision deserves the best wine money can buy. ... Inexplicably, some of the poorest Americans, the ones with the least in common with Hillary and what she believes in, are her most ardent supporters. Unreal. I'd ask America to do the right thing and have her stand trial on perjury charges in this email case, but those charges also would be thrown out by the corrupt government. http://nypost.com/2016/07/05/fbi-boss-outr...-hillary-skate/

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) Sox are up 6-2. Do they really need to use Jones 3 days in a row, 5/6? He's going to need a couple of days off now. Yes they had to use him. That lead was going to disappear.

for those of you who lament Hawks stupidity...
greg775 replied to harkness99's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) Yesterday Frazier took an outside pitch... and Hawk emphatically stated "I haven't seen him take an outside pitch like that in awhile... that's a great sign" Then in todays game Frazier said he had a bat last night where he saw the ball for the first time in awhile... and thought he was about to get hot. That's the kind of s*** that Hawk has that hardly anyone else does. Hawk is great. My only complaint is when he's crabby. -
Anderson is great. Maybe he doesn't need to ever draw a walk and will be fine drawing one walk every couple weeks. GO ANDERSON!
-
I'd say Sale and maybe Robertson. The Sox bats prevented Q from making it. Some people still look at W/L record no matter what the Sabes people think.
-
Can we petition to get out of the AL Central? Sox are kings of all other divisions! Anderson is a breath of fresh air. Like you said, Nate Jones and Duke saved the day after Albers was looking like he was gonna get rocked. The bats have been pretty good of late. We actually score during the course of the game, not just one inning. Not gonna fall for it with team dysfunction, but this team is generally fun to watch when it gets out of the Central cept for abysmal Minnie.
-
Sox often are in trouble when the bullpen has to cover too many innings. Though this mess was caused by the error.
-
QUOTE (Insp @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 09:11 PM) Albers comes in and immediately gives up a double. I give Robin credit for yanking him after one batter. It was not going to be pretty.
