I wonder if that had an effect on the Over in Vegas?

Sox are .500 again. If it wasn't for the weird way they've gotten there (23-10 followed by 10-23) Robin would be beloved.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 03:52 AM) Lol they pulled purse after 2 batters. And that's the last you'll ever see of him. Purse must be purged from the roster asap.

Saladino is an MLB caliber hitter. Time to play him EVERYDAY! Look at the spark he gives the team.

Parents Stuck With Their Kids
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) Not really. If you don't want to take an unpaid internship in exchange for real world work experience which looks nice on a resume...there is this insane idea I have: DON'T TAKE IT. I'm surprised you don't see anything wrong with putting people to work, benefitting from them and not paying them anything. A lot of companies used to expect to pay 1-2 interns a summer, but then jumped for joy when colleges came up with this plan to give a couple hours credit for work. To me, it's just more of what America has become. Not many opportunities to make $$$ for the little guy.

2016 Republican Thread
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) The petition was most certainly the wrong call. They obviously made a mistake but I definitely think the company probably should have explained to them why it was inappropriate rather than firing them. They are f***ing kids FFS. Thing is the petition thing is pretty juvenile. Again ... those things never work. Every once in a while somebody thinks it's a good idea to pass around a protest and have everybody sign it, then you deliver it to management and wait for the bombs to fall. It's like "you had time to organize this protest when you could have been working?" Etc. This did scream entitlement though, the workers comparing one person's footwear to another. All in all probably a good idea to get rid of them all.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) I still disagree. Why should the company lose money to take college students on internships? From our view, many of the hospitals couldn't afford to take them if they had to pay them as well. The company should lose money because it is putting them to work. If it's just the interns observing, fine, college credit is OK. But many companies have them doing work. It's really not classy to make people work for free even if they get a couple credit hours. I remember summer jobs were important to me when I was in school. It was a way to make spending money at college and gas money, etc., since my parents paid the big three - tuition, books and room and board. I also had internships in which I did get paid. One summer I stayed in my campus town and worked for a company 20 minutes away in my field but got paid.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) GREG!!!!! This post is for you, since i recall on at least ore than one occasion you (and me as well) have complained about our youth of today. I actually laughed after reading this. Welcome to the real world, Class of 2017! http://www.askamanager.org/2016/06/i-was-f...dress-code.html I really love this line from her letter" We were shocked. The proposal was written professionally like examples I have learned about in school, and our arguments were thought out and well-reasoned. We weren’t even given a chance to discuss it Thanks. It's almost like they thought they were at a college where they could issue a protest. Kind of a stupid story but I agree with you that it's funny. Never a good idea to write out a protest and sign it. That stuff doesn't work well in the workplace.

QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:54 AM) Killed whatever trade value he might have had. Dude should honestly start looking for another career. He is not going to make it in the show. What is Brian Anderson doing now? Seriously. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:54 AM) You characters are like a comedy routine. This team is 38-38 and if playing a board game or fantasy baseball would Have been torn apart at least 38 times already cause that's how we build a winner you know El Rockin, the Sox are 38-38 which actually wouldn't be that bad if not for the way they've gone about being 38-39. Patsies to the Central, lousy at home again, going 23-10 and basically ending the season shortly after. Can u imagine attending tonight's game? It must be a morgue in the Cell. Except for the great food and beer my god I call it agony. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:57 AM) We were due to lose to Minnesota just awful that they're gona be shut out I don't buy the "due to lose" thing considering all the losing we've done against the Central. Lot of ground to make up.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:51 AM) He can't be that bad after what he accomplished in high minors. Probably pressing. He'll get sent down and who knows, might get it together and be a solid player. He seems like a good prospect but I loved Brian Anderson at one point as well.

Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins 6/28/2016
QUOTE (Scoots @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:49 AM) Is this the real White Sox team? I never wanted to believe it, but I think what we see tonight is ultimately what we get. How do you lose 4-0 to the worst team in baseball, against a starter who is 0-5 with an ERA over 6? How is one of your best hitters hitting under.200? I had so much faith in this team, but after tonight, that faith really is gone. I am so tired of seeing someone get on base and the next two or three hitters doing nothing to get the guy in. So awful. I've said it before the guys do not care. White Sox players not named Sale count their money while not getting down and dirty. If they cared you damn well believe they'd do something about this Quintana thing. They'd be fired up the entire f***ing game trying to get him some runs. I despise the Royals but at least them seemingly care from their heckling of other teams in the dugout to their bulls*** soaking each other in gatorade after every win. The Sox are too cool for their own good (except for Sale).

Coats is the anti-Anderson and Trayce. Those were the only two guys I can remember who did well from the get-go in a Sox jersey. Coats seems like he's as bad as anybody who has graced a uniform. Does he have hope?

Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins 6/28/2016
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 02:24 AM) @whitesoxdom After tonight, Jose Quintana will be 120th out of 122 MLB starting pitchers (60+ IP) in run support per game (2.65 runs per game). Sigh. Quintana has been one of my favorites on this team since he came up a few years ago. Painful to see the run support he gets. There's no reason to subject him or the fans to this any longer. Trade him for 4 prospects NOW. If we need a replacement pay Buehrle the minimum. right now you'd have to be an idiot to pay good money to go to a home game in which Quintana pitches. You are guaranteed to be bored senseless.
-
Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins 6/28/2016
Please White Sox, do the right thing and trade Quintana. It's just obscene how the team can't hit for him. Just trade him ASAP for mercy''s sake. And for gosh sake we don't need Morneau unless he's integral for next season. Just let Saladino DH. Time to blow it up.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) I did an unpaid internship in college but I received course credit for it. Gave me a bit of exposure to the job market and everyday life in the IT market...so it wasn't the worst thing I've ever done. It also taught me something...the world doesn't owe you anything...including money. I understand the course credit is nice, but didn't you ever feel like the place you were interning were cheap bastards? I mean getting all that free work ... did they ever take the interns to lunch at least? Let me answer that ... nah.

White Privilege?
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 06:23 PM) Because even though his coach cancelled the rivalry, Greg wants to keep kicking Mizzou while we're down to stoke some rivalry I guess / push whatever Rush Limbaugh says. Missouri fans are damn happy with the SEC. They remain ecstatic they are in the SEC. So why do they want to play KU? There's no reason to have one KU-MU game in Sprint Center every year. The excitement of the rivalry was in Hearnes Center, Mizzou Arena and Allen Fieldhouse, not some neutral site. As far as football, Missouri will win 9 of every 10 games there maybe all 10 so even MU fans probably don't care about that dog of a game being off the schedule.

White Privilege?
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) As an Illini grad, I love to dig on Mizzou as much as the next guy, but damn kick them while they are down, why don't you? That's been known for months and posted earlier in this thread. The hate in Lawrence is still strong. I do not hate Missouri. I am appalled by the tactics of the group that verbally assaulted students over that "white privilege denouncement thing" and the rich kid who had a hunger strike, fooling the damn football team. It was all a scam. I especially loathed them for verbally assaulting some students in the library who earlier had fricking marched with them. If that group was out to ruin a fine school, they did a good job starting in that direction. If they in the future yell at people to denounce their white privilege I wonder if there will be big-time violence on MU's campus. Leave people alone.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) The latest BENGHAZI! investigation report was released today. Shockingly, it found pretty much no new information and nothing important after 2 years. The government is so corrupt you thought they'd get Hillary on something there? I love listening to Jesse Ventura talk about America. He was a loyal Navy Seal who believed in government. He points out how corrupt it all is with politicians getting paid off. After Ventura won he said he'd meet with no lobbyists because they didn't give him a cent during his campaign and didn't need to listen to anybody cause he wasn't bought. Just the amounts of money Hillary got for speaking, one big lol and to the companies she'll be doing favors for. She's "raised" more money for her campaign than Bill Gates is worth (well, almost). I can't believe there are Hillary supporters out there still. I was reading an Internet ad for Hillary. Somebody was saying they'd vote for her cause she has a big heart. What?? Where do they come up with these things. She's the definition of selfish elitist and she has a big heart?

Relievers we might target?
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) I don't want to use more resources on acquiring a reliever until we are 10 games over again. Exactly. Hopes of winning the division disappeared a long time ago. Good luck getting in wild card contention. The White Sox either should sell, sell sell in an attempt to rebuild or make moves based on next season. Sure if you can get a good reliever for nothing, go for it, but make moves in regards to the future not this season. That ship has sailed. Personally I'd trade Lawrie, Shields, Melky, Avi for starters. And also dump Robertson and maybe even Frazier. Sell time.

Parents Stuck With Their Kids
Not trying to flame millenials here. But I know a guy who is a career counselor for one of the schools at University of Kansas and he said he had three kids call in the last two weeks who coincidentally mentioned their parents. He said pretty much all three had the same message: "My parents were getting on me about not having a job. Can you tell me what openings there are?" I would think it would be kind of scary as a parent to have Johnny or Julie graduate on a Sunday when everybody celebrated them getting their diplomas, then a month later with 23 year old Johnny and Julie sleeping til noon every day and eating a good amount of groceries before heading to the pool then the clubs at night, some anxiety might set in with mom and dad. "Are my kids going to get good jobs or not after securing diplomas?"

White Privilege?
It looks like Missouri had to close four dorms and make a lot of cuts because so many kids have bailed on the university cause of the Black Lives Matter aggression. Enrollment will be down drastically so I guess if their goal was to wreck a fine university, that's what is happened from the rich kid staging a starvation protest.

Tim Anderson
He looks great. Somebody compared him to Soriano with the long swing and the big bat and propensity to never draw a walk. I love Anderson. He's a pleasure to watch run the bases. FAST! But swinging at everything means trouble in the future. Somehow he's got to learn how to draw walks. He has zero walks and had less than 10 this season in the minors with all those at bats. How does a guy draw walks? I dunno. I'd do the same thing if I were a big leaguer, go up there hacking. But hacking won't cut it through the long, long, long season. Got to draw walks, too. But I would give him a grade of A so far, of course, especially considering how many guys start their careers off horribly.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/26/2016
Robertson is doing well again. No reason to not trade him at the break. This time Hahn needs to ROB a contender! You can get a team desperate for a bullpen guy to give up GOOD prospects. How bout a GOOD catcher for starters. Trade him for a catching prospect and others.

Of course Todd Frazier is hitting under .200
I would think the Sabes people would say he's been valuable. An old fashioned stat like batting average doesn't matter much anymore. He produces runs and hits home runs consistently unlike Dunn who hit 'em in bunches.
