2016 AL Central catch-all thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 26, 2016 -> 01:59 AM) It's almost an exact "Interstellar" ending moment... May 6th, White Sox 23-10 and up 6-7-8 games on the Indians, Royals and Tigers. Here we are, six weeks later, everything's inverted (maybe upside down Inception influence, too)....Cleveland up 5-6-7 on the Royals, Tigers and White Sox. 13 games lost in the standings. Almost the exact same as the 2005 White Sox in August/Sept 2005, except those White Sox were still above .500 and the Indians were just on an ungodly tear of almost .800 baseball. Royals have to trade for another 4th starter or they're toast. Chris Young is simply killing them. Volquez was rocked the night before. Tigers also can't afford to stand pat while waiting for JD Martinez to return. This is what's funny ... the Royals were this bad, this horses*** TWICE prior to the Sox fixing them. They came to Chicago having lost 9 in a row and promtly won 2 of 3 and shoulda won them all. They also were sucking big time earlier when they won all 3 in Chicago and two of 3 in KC shortly after to right the sinking ship. KC is in trouble cause right now they aren't playing any Central teams and figure to stay in the tank for the next couple weeks. They might catch a break if St. Louis really does suck but KC right now is horrific again and doesn't have the Sox to beat up on til August.

Trayce Thompson/Montas
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 26, 2016 -> 02:26 AM) This is the real Trayce. His fluky hitting ended. There just aren't many good hitters out there anymore in the post steroid era. It's crazy. Remember when Eaton was at .320? Isn't he about .250 now and he's a pretty good player. I guess it's why defense and bullpen win games now. The hitting is so bad it doesn't matter IF you can catch everything and you've got 3 standout starters couple with a great closer and at least two EFFECTIVE setup men. That's all you need. Hardly anybody can hit.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) Who was that team? Just wondering. Sox tied the club record today with seven home runs in a game. Set originally in April 1955 in the Sox 29-6 destruction of the Kansas City A's. Mark That's what the score should be when you hit 7 home runs. Only the Sox can turn a seven-home run day into something worth mocking on Sports Center. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) On the bright side Beck looked good. It is laughable some here are blaming Ventura. People were calling for Ynoa yesterday. He was the only reliever to allow runs today. Coop has done a hell of a job with his rotation. If Ynoa keeps pitching like that I'm gonna scream, "Oh No" when he gets the call. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 11:10 PM) are you f***ing kidding me? Man the f*** up. It's all hands on deck the rest of the year. This team just really pisses me off. Not sure if RV is covering his own ass but how about challenging your men to step up when guys are hurt in a big mid-summer game? I honestly question if these guys would p**** foot around like this if RV wasn't such a pushover. The Sox haven't taken the field with the desire to fight in many years, starting with the days of Ozzie's Sunday lineups. He was conceding those Sunday games and we've conceded a lot since (and I worshipped Oz but that was a head scratcher).

The Sox should have runners leading off the bases when they take BP just so they get used to it and hit better with runners on base. 7 solo home runs? Still can't get over that.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
It's really not easy to lose at home when you hit 7 home runs. That's a lot of fireworks. The guy we started is not a big leaguer. I wonder if Danks would have worked out his problems by now.

Eaton with a nice HR.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
Anderson is a nice player but he doesn't walk much. That's not good for a leadoff hitter. Law of averages will keep his BA way down.

QUOTE (Insp @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 09:21 PM) This thread was going quite nicely before caulfield12 and greg775 showed up to ruin things. I do apologize. I haven't been in many game threads cause this team makes me so upset.

QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 09:18 PM) You don't like to let youngsters develop do you? They should all be hall of fame quality from the get go! I guess I didn't like what I saw there.

Without looking it up, it seems to me the Sox absolutely suck during day games at the Cell record wise.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) Well, he once was the mostly highly-touted arm in the Dominican and received the biggest signing bonus (at the time) in history. So basically, the Joe Borchard of pitching prospects. How did the Sox get him?

QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 09:13 PM) His slider might be on par with the best in the game. That last one to K Pillar was stellar My eyes are telling me it's very easy to pick up the ball out of his hand and his pitches scream, "hit me hard."

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
Boy this pitcher has nothing. Hope he's not a big time prospect.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
Six home runs and getting killed. Team Dysfunction is at it again. It's hard to do some of the things this team does.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
That sucked. Lawrie with the boot.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) This team desperately needs like 4 more players if they want to contend. If scores hold true, they will be 7 back of Cleveland It's closer to the bottom than the top. Forget the playoffs. Not this year.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
Belt high fastball ... BAM.
-
Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
Put Lawrie or Anderson in the outfield then and let Saladino hit. Or everyday DH.
-
Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
Can you explain why Saladino doesn't play over a .180 hitter like Shuck?
-
Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/25/16
Saladino is one of our best hitters and never plays. Ridiculous waste.

Brexit
I just read that Texas and California want to follow Britain and have a Texit from the U.S. These states don't know what they are doing. Once they secede they are going to lose about 1/2 the population just by people who don't want to renounce their US citizenship. Then they are going to be left with a state full of crazies who are their own country. They will need their own armies and nuclear weapons. Talk about morale killers. All these states want to secede now to follow Britain's lead. We do have a lot of problems as a nation at this time, though. They are thinking their economies will be better if they split from the USA. There will be all sorts of problems, however. I can't imagine the hordes of people who have moved to Dallas and Houston mainly for work would stay there if Texas secedes. p.s. This is another crazy offshoot of our political system. The Democratic candidate as we stand now is a lock to win every Presidency thanks to the system set up (media bias, etc) and some people are fed up with the blah outlook under Hillary the next 8 years. It's interesting but also embarrassing. Obama's tenure ends in states talking about bailing on the Union. Great stuff Obama.

Mark Buehrle to retire?
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 02:02 AM) Slew of Chuck Garfien tweets: Spoke to Mark Buehrle. He's here at the White Sox game. He says he hasn't filled out his retirement papers. Buehrle said he'd think about coming back to pitch in the White Sox or Blue Jays bullpens. Seriously? Buehrle: "I might be. I might not be." Buehrle was thoroughly enjoying dancing around the issue of whether he'll come back or not. Buehrle says he is throwing--to his son's little league team. Please come back, Mark. He could be ready by August. Pitch the rest of this year then join the rotation next year. Bullpen the last five weeks of this season then rotation next year. If he did make a comeback with the Sox his first appearance would be one of the loudest ovations ever.

White Sox Winner !!!
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 04:17 AM) Ventura won this game Ventura is a very very good manager ... outside of the Central Division. He'll have his Sox compete against anybody else all nine innings tooth and nail.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/24/16
QUOTE (59th street @ Jun 25, 2016 -> 03:46 AM) Truer words were never spoken! Too many miserable whiners just want to complain about every single thing. SOX WIN. Are you crazy? The 'whiners' are happy we won! But we are realists. here are some facts to chew on as we AGAIN are out of the race in June. Have been out of it a while now. Get this: To win a division (we won't get either wildcard; that is a given; got to win the division to make playoffs) you have to win games in the Central and have to win at home. CLEVELAND is 23-12 at home, KC 25-9, Detroit 21-14. The Sox are a PATHETIC 18-17. That will never cut it. We are not built to win at the Cell again. In the division, SOX are 12-18 vs. the division compared to 22-10 for Cleveland, 21-11 for KC as well as Detroit's equally pathetic 12-14. So obviously we are not whiners but realists.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays 6/24/16
Nice win. Big crowd. This is what summer ball is supposed to be about. No need for those fans to watch extra innings. Good thing David got outta it. Everybody's happy. -- Sox should let Renteria manage the games against AL Central and Robin manage all other games. Robin is Earl Weaver against everybody but the Central. Scouts should be scouting Central teams HARD right now as we play others.
