  1. I actually feel sorry for Robin more than despise him. He has to watch this crap every night. He is making a ton of money as well to watch one of the most dysfunctional teams in modern Sox history. Find a way to lose, this team will lose.
  2. Last 3-4 minutes ... both teams had I think 3 possessions both didn't score. Finally with a minute left Kyrie hits the three that effectively wins it. If GS was gonna answer it woulda needed one of those patented Curry or Klay 3s to tie it back up. Actually glad to see Cavs win. Some of those GS threes are just prayers. Oddly, I do think OKC woulda beat Cleveland.
  3. Thanks guys I did mean Zito. He got rocked and rocked and rocked. It was ugly. Wonder if Sox will hang Shields out to dry like that or make him a meaningless middle reliever.
  4. The title of this thread is partly right, partly wrong. Any organization that would trade for Shields as they did, when they did, has more problems than talent. I'd say 90 percent of this board knew it was a stupid stupid stupid move to acquire a guy with as bad stuff as Shields at this stage. It should be very interesting to see what they do with him. I mean you get rocked as much as he's been rocked, 2-3 more outings like that and you have to do something. It's like that year the Giants acquired that starting pitcher, I forget his name, who immediately turned to crap. They kept trotting him out there to get rocked game after game just cause of $$$. He was a lefty I believe. Name escapes me.
  5. He has to go today as a last ditch effort to save the season. But they should also be shopping Lawrie, Frazier, Nate, Robertson and Melky and Avi as of NOW.
  6. Yeah, I'd agree Robin is probably the first to go. Probably before the next game. It will be their last resort to turn it around as they start shopping guys.
  7. Add Robertson to the list of guys who is OK, not exceptional. Wow. What a headache of a team. I wonder if the Sox finally will have a complete firesale this year trading everybody except Q and Sale and maybe Abreu. Definitely start shopping Melky, Lawrie, Robertson, Jones, Avi, Frazier and both catchers and see what you can get. Somebody might go for Robertson and Melky and Frazier for starters.
  8. Cleveland actually might win this game. Golden State might win by 25. Does anybody really know how it's going to go? Cleveland is on a roll with three wins in last four games. But GS has the homecourt where it has only lost four games all year, two playoffs two regular season. I guess you never can bet against the homecourt. If somebody made me bet the house on the game, I'd have to bet GS for the simple homecourt reason. Kind of the same game as the Thunder Game Seven. if they can beat Durant/Westbrook in Game Seven at home, you'd think they could stave off LeBron at home. If it were in Cleveland GS would have zero chance. The Cavs would be champs.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) In his career, James Shields has made $49 million. He has over $50 million remaining on his contract that he would lose if he retired. His career earnings will double in the next 2.5 years. He will make you buy his deal out to get him off your roster and it's the right move. If you want him off your roster, you either get him onto the DL or you pay the rest. I guess at some point then you have to put him in the bullpen and pitch him when the Sox are down, 8-1 or something. It's dangerous to keep trotting him out there with MLB hitters scorching his offerings.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 09:10 AM) That's what every partisan attack book will do Greg, throw 100 things against the wall and hope that 3-5 of them stick. Everyone loves to see one-sided barrages against their favorite targets, but the world is much more nuanced than that. The problem is that truly objective non-fiction political books just don't sell as well. So you don't believe the author? You believe a guy who had the access he had would just make it all up? Why would he make it up? Hillary will just laugh as she does when asked about the book and say, 'Well, none of it is true and I could tell you some stories about the person who wrote that book!" Applause, standing ovation, vote for Hillary. Clinton was meeting Lewinsky on the sly. Why is it so difficult to think he had several other mistresses? As far as Hillary? Why would he make up what a terrible person she is (in his eyes). If reporters wanted to try, I'm sure they could get others to affirm the stories, but nobody will do that. Everybody wants Hillary to win and they'll just write this off as gossip and lies.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 02:05 PM) Unfortunately, some people believe everything they read. Do you not believe the author was the No. 1 Secret Service agent closest to Bill and Hillary? Why would he make it all up? Truth is a defense against lawsuits. It's almost cult like with Hillary's backers. They want her to be President no matter what. What would it take for Hillary supporters to believe what that guy wrote? Why do they want this person in office?
  12. I'm at the stage of apathy/laughter at how bad this team is. I've definitely stopped watching the standings. One caveat however. I get very upset for a few seconds when they lose again to a Central Division team, especially the Royals. I calm down in about a minute when I realize it is what it is. Other than that I realize we don't have the team and just laugh/accept how embarrassingly bad they are. I don't really have any favorite players except Anderson maybe, hoping he clicks. And of course Q and Sale. I despise all our relievers except Robertson. I'm OK with Frazier, like Anderson, don't like Lawrie, feel bad that Abreu isn't better, don't like Avi, apathetic toward Eaton, don't like Melky, don't like either catcher, don't like Shuck. Again as far as laughter, this Shields thing is priceless. I mean this guy is arguably the worst pitcher in baseball and the Sox felt they had to pay what, 27 mill of his salary? Just crazy.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) Um, not sure how this reflects poorly on Hillary? The book has a zillion attacks on her as well apparently. This was a gem. ... "Her only concern was herself, Byrne says. “Mrs. Clinton was a joke, taking herself and the entire administration minutiae so seriously. Her ‘brand’ was her only concern. She was a faux leader, all bark, no bite, but in a very real power position as first lady.” One exchange with her protective detail went this way: “Good morning, First Lady,” an officer said. “Go f- -k yourself,” she replied.
  14. If you are THIS bad at your job and your boss won't fire you, couldn't you at least consider resigning? All this losing can't be much fun. Robin has to be set for life financially. If he's not I do not know how that would be possible.

I wish somebody besides us fans would use the word "embarrassed." This team is so bad it truly is embarrassing. It's kind of an insult to fans to think they should spend their money on this crap. I mean you go to a game and there's a good chance the Sox will get five hits or less. If you are lucky they might somehow score a run or two. This is really truly embarrassing.
  16. This may sound dumb but will Shields retire if he has another ridiculous start or two? I mean cmon. He's WAY worse than Danks. He's actually worse than Latos. Will he retire? It's not out of the realm of possibility he's done. The amount of money he makes is kind of inconsequential right now. I mean he can't get anybody out in the big leagues. Would he agree to a month-long minor league rest/rehab? I want him the hell off the MLB roster.
  17. I know I know soxtalkers. These are all lies. Even though this Secret Service agent testified in the Lewinsky case and was the last line between the door of the oval office and Bill Clinton. These are all lies. The author of the book made it all up about Clinton running the White House like a brothel and Hillary being a not so likeable person. The guy is risking lawsuits and releasing this book. But it's all lies and Bill and Hillary deserve to be White House residents the next 8 years. http://nypost.com/2016/06/18/monica-lewins...cheated-on-her/
  18. We're the patsies of the Central. Sox are officially a clown team. They've been the worst team in baseball for over a month now. They're not going anywhere. Time to start a huge rebuild/reload. No need to fire Robin now but work on a manager for next season while trading off everybody except Sale and Quintana and Abreu, same scenario as after last season. Trade everybody you can besides those 3.
  19. Well, it's been a week so the Orlando shooting story has maxed out. Everybody knows everything about the killer; all the stories have been told; all the vigils have been held. In other words, rinse and repeat is coming. This story is done for now, unless the wife gets charged with something. Now we move onto the next. Nobody knows where it will take place or when, but we know one thing, it's coming cause nothing has changed or ever will change. Only thing that's happening is those planning the attacks are doing so even as we speak.
  20. Have any of you noticed how s***ty the Sox have been since Buehrle left town? Hmmm. Maybe we miss that class act in more ways than one.
  21. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 11:51 PM) Being nice.......yes, you are incredibly off base. Religion is not part of my life. Probably never will be. In fact, if I ever do get married it probably won't be in a church. I don't have anything against religion, it just isn't something I value. With that said, I have never cheated on a significant other, and that has nothing has to do with faith or religion. It's about being a good person. And being a good person doesn't have anything to do with faith or religion. I guess I've just known a ton of people who cheat and all the ones who do never pray, don't believe in God. The ones who don't cheat go to church together, pray together.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:37 AM) As Stone said, if he got it down, with the defensive positioning at that time...it was a sure run. But yeah, it put him down in the hole 0-2 and that was all she wrote. And Frazier continues to be a dead zone in the line-up. I don't know how guys miss on so many bunt attempts. I just wish our guys would stop bunting until further notice.
  23. Yost was getting credit around here the other day for pitching Herrera and Davis 3 straight days. I think it was the first game or the middle game of their sweep of Cleveland. Asked why he did it, Yost admitted it was a "big game" and a big swing in the standings when you lose to a first place Central Division team. Nothing wrong with a manager "admitting" a series is big. The White Sox chug into every series doing their "season is a marathon" thing and get owned by almost every other Central squad. It's really getting pathetic to watch us lose most games to Central squads. Can hardly believe we took 2 of 3 from Detroit recently.
  24. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:09 AM) I think that's probably the case. It's uncanny how many runners the Sox leave on base. Looked like we were going to steal this game late for Q, but they stranded Avi after his clutch hit. Not sure why Anderson was trying to bunt for a hit instead of concentrating on bashing a single to give the Sox the lead. This series has the feel of an easy Cleveland sweep.
  25. Nothing unusual about that game. Pretty predictable. Q can't ever get run support. It's almost unbelievable. Stranding the runner at second with one out in the ninth ... you knew a good team like the Indians would win it at home in the bottom of the inning. Nate served it right in there and he put it over the fence. Big deal. They got a better team than the White Sox and a better manager even though some on here don't think managers matter.
