De Aza Traded to Orioles
QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 01:28 AM) both prospects have pitched decently this year. Sweet. Hopefully this is the start of a new crop of arms coming aboard. Hopefully we'll be seeing the lousy pitchers in the Sox bullpen moving on in coming days, weeks, months.

De Aza Traded to Orioles
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 01:26 AM) Makes me wonder if they give Viciedo all of the at bats the rest of the way in LF, or if they give them to Sierra or Mitchell. Hopefully Mitchell.

Bassitt and Surkamp up, Carroll down
Another good move. Carroll got his big league pension, thank goodness for him, but his stuff is so ordinary to bad, it's sad. Please don't bring him back up. Sox getting rid of some dead weight? This is good.

De Aza Traded to Orioles
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 01:20 AM) Would have preferred it to be Viciedo Hopefully he'll be gone as well. There's a chance, right?

Dunn traded to Athletics for Nolan Sanburn
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 01:05 AM) Greg! Come out n party man! This might be it brother! I will be a happy camper, but like I said, I don't hate him as much (as a player) as I did Rios. I have nothing against Dunn, except he defines our team's losing. Since he got here, the team has reeked. And of course that first season where he had one of the worst seasons in baseball history. Maybe the worst for a regular.

De Aza Traded to Orioles
Thank God. Are those pitchers any good or just arms?

The Beheading
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 10:57 PM) Wrong on both counts, but I'm guessing this isn't the first time you've been told that. You guys like him? Wow. As far as joking about the beheadings, I think it's very very poor taste this soon. Has the journalist even had his funeral yet? I'm offended by that unfunny man and I normally don't get offended.

Flowers and his magic glasses
Somebody should write a poem about Tyler Flowers and his up and down season.

It's about that time of the year again...
Sox at this rate will be lucky to win 10 games the rest of the year. Probably 8-10 games. So where does that put them? A lot of you will be thrilled at that kind of finish which is coming.

Tigers @ Sox...Now
Boy this team stinks. With our small fan base, wow. Next year's season ticket sales should be so low it'll be unbelieveable. The demise of this team in such a short period of time is really really scary sad.

The Beheading
This Stephen Colbert guy is not funny nor is he talented. These ISIS bastards are brutal and I don't find it terribly funny what they've been doing. His jokes and delivery are not entertaining. Did you see England has issued a "severe" terror threat at home? These ISIS guys are so brutal it's beyond belief. https://screen.yahoo.com/popular/isis-panic...00660.html?vp=1

Hawk
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 06:31 PM) He talks over Stone so often it's embarrassing. Stone is actually a good broadcaster when Hawk was talking during Avi's last AB about how a 3-1 pitch on the black is "unlucky to the hitter" I kinda just wanted Stone to interject and say "well Hawk that's why they pay the Pitchers too". It's not unlucky it's just a pro pitcher making a good pitch, happens dozens of times a game. It's also interesting banter. Hawk probably will be way better if he does take some games off. You can tell at times he's whiny. Probably a bit of burnout even though he loves baseball. He should pull a Royals' Denny Matthews and just skip a trip to Cleveland or Minnesota or KC here and there. Baseball has set up the schedule to where it is incessantly boring playing teams in your own division so many times. Hawk should pass on all trips to Cleveland, some to Detroit and KC and Minnie. BORING! And he becomes crabby.

Hawk
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 04:10 PM) I meant as far as cutting back his schedule. And Hawk was entertaining. Now he's unbearable. I really can't believe how many people who seemingly have listened to him for 20+ years (30 years for me), think he's still fun to listen to, or think he's on his game. That's your opinion, and that's fine. But I think he's terrible now. My opinion is the opposite of yours. He's excellent. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) Any time I think Hawk is terrible, all I need to do is surf around my MLB audio subscription. That just makes me want to stab my ears out. Honestly, we are really, really luck with the TV and radio crews that we have in all sports. Chicago has some incredible talent broadcasting their local teams. It is a great time to be consuming Chicago sports in terms of the crews giving us the games. Amen. Chicagoans are spoiled. Try to listen to these announcers who are paid to only praise the team. It's torture. Steve Physioc of the Royals ... I defy anybody to be able to listen more than an inning without turning down the volume. These plastic announcers enunciate like Wink Martendale and are horrific. Hawk forever! That said, Stoney and Wimpy are great, too so if Hawk wants to take off road trips, go for it. Time marches on. He's over 70. Getting up there.

2014 AL Central catch-all thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 04:48 AM) Greg will be happy. The Royals tried to win the game with Holland pitching in a tie game in the Top of the 9th at home, didn't score in the bottom of the 9th and now Bruce Chen's pitching like he does against every team not named the White Sox. KC will need another dramatic comeback off Perkins or will lose a game to the Tigers, who somehow got a quality start out of Lobstein and beat Kuroda. 8-5 now. Royals chances for another miracle finish this week rapidly diminishing. 26-9 now over their last 35 games. Reminiscent of the White Sox 26-5 run in mid-2010. Yeah I'm watching with some Royals fans who want Chen released. I remind them, "You need him for the games against the White Sox." I guarantee you no matter how pathetic he is, he'll go 6-7 vs. Chicago and beat us. However, he won't get the chance. Chen is finally about out of baseball. No way KC can start him vs. the Sox. Hilarious. Sox still get to be shut down by Guthrie, however.

Indians vs Sox
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 03:40 AM) Where are you going to play Alexei, Sanchez and Semien? You might as well stick Marcus in LF, because Carlos Sanchez isn't going to the OF. Alexei isn't and shouldn't be sitting too much unless Hahn knows for sure he's trading him this offseason and wants to prevent him from wearing down too much or getting injured. Plus, when you're playing the Tigers and Royals, it's not going to be fair to sit Ramirez and just play Sanchez and Semien up the middle. Or you play Sierra/Michael Taylor for one month. That's another option. Is Sanchez that great a prospect? I thought Semien was the real deal as well as Micah and Sanchez was just OK to lousy?

Indians vs Sox
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 03:35 AM) If avisail Garcia was playing all year he would got a single in bottom 8 inning. Maybe not. Those were fastballs and he swung right through them. It's possible, though. You could be right.

Indians vs Sox
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 03:32 AM) This freaking team sucks tank has no vision of home plate strike zone swinging at freaking balls get rid of him. No reason to play him in September. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 03:34 AM) I'd rather have greg posting. I hate the Tigers as well. Royals fans can be obnoxious but it'd be nice to end the Tigers' domination.

Indians vs Sox
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 03:29 AM) Allen threw about two strikes that inning, and he struck out the side. I really hope they give some of the young guys a chance next week. Me too, I would even add a replacement for Gillaspie to the mix. He had a nice year. Let him play against some righties and that's it. I'd play young guys. The losses can't be any worse than they'll be with the current crop.
-
Indians vs Sox
It's time to sit Flowers, DeAza, Tank, Dunn and play four callups in those spots the rest of the year. As well as Semien at second for the final month. Also sit Sale and Danks since there's no reason to put wear on their arms, maybe even Q. Team probably will lose anyway but it'll be fun.
-
Indians vs Sox
Tank is the definition of lousy hitter. Ballgame OVA. Sox lose. September should be interesting if Robin plays the dead weight.
-
Indians vs Sox
Tyler has Beckham disease. In a full season he gets hot twice and that's it. Two down.
-
Indians vs Sox
Conor got blown away there. One out. Two to go.
-
Indians vs Sox
I wish conor would slap a single to left. He got the fastball on the first pitch.

Indians vs Sox
Cleto, Bella and the rest of the relievers need to be sent to Pluto this offseason. Bring in a whole new crew next year.

Indians vs Sox
This season really went in the tank from an excitement standpoint. When Sox were 2 under .500 about a month ago, Hawk would get excited a lot.
