  1. The contact play is so ridiculous. Why send a guy on a routine grounder to third? Baseball's unwritten rulebook.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) Audio recording from the area of the shooting that allegedly has the gunshots in the background. http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/26/us/michael-b....html?hpt=hp_t1 Total of 10 shots fired, including a pause in the middle. Heard somewhere this might be a hoax tape. In this day and age, you really truly cannot believe anything you hear in the media.
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 05:35 PM) Losing is a habit. I guess they will show up next year if the team wins the division. Yost is a dope. The crowds have been good. Just because they are in first doesn't mean everybody's going to pack the park to see the Twins for the 19th time on a Tuesday night. What a dummy. Blame baseball, Ned. Your crowds have been pretty good. Tuesday night was one of those things; they'll get 20,000 tonight to see the Twins for the zillionth time.
  4. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 09:05 PM) Me too. 60M sounds nice. This truly is an interesting dilemma for the Sox. With Konerko and Dunn leaving and Beckham gone and Viciedo and DeAza probably leaving, the Sox can start to completely change the makeup of the everyday lineup. The Sox also need pitching. If the Sox finish last again next season, this is one of the bleakest stretches in franchise history. Fans are going to completely give up on the White Sox and you will be seeing crowds of 15,000 pretty much every night. Does the front office realize it's a crisis situation? They should. The team without a major overhaul will be picked last in the division next year again. That's three straight last place finishes. That can DECIMATE a fan base of a franchise like the White Sox. I hope Hahn attacks the offseason as crisis mode and gets some ballplayers.
  5. On a happier note ... Once, I kid you not, I got on a SW Airlines flight and a woman who was a perfect 10, about 25 years old, blonde hair, blue eyes, gorgeous walks on the plane as one of the final passengers to board. She gets on the plane and all that is left is the middle seat in my row. For once, halleluia. She sits down and proceeds to say she's never flown before and is scared to death and she asks if I can hold her hand. I was only about 8 years older than her so it wasn't like I was some grandpa to her. So she gets through the flight, scared as hell. I enjoyed talking to her instead of taking my normal flight nap while ignoring the beastly males who normally sit next to me. No happily ever after ending for me, however. She tells me she's going to Dallas to meet some guy she met on the Internet. The guy has two kids. We get off the plane and say our goodbyes (I did get her card and she got mine, big deal) and sure enough some 5-foot-5 guy from India with a fu-manchu is there to greet her with a big hug. I'm not trying to be prejudiced here, just describing who met her. She seemed happy as a lark to see him. Maybe they got married. It still was better than sitting next to some 300 pound male moose.
  6. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 04:24 AM) Dunn doesn't throw left handed. Oops. Then forget it. Brain wave problem, here.
  7. I blamed Hahn for the bullpen debacle. It ruined any chance of the team hitting .500. He brought in Abreu and Eaton, which is great, but the defense remains horrible and the pitching is quite sub par. Frankly, he has a lot of work to do to avoid the cellar again next year. Season ticket sales should be lowest in the modern era. All they have to sell, really, is Abreu, Sale and perhaps Eaton right now, barring an overhaul. Avi Garcia is close to being a major plus as well.
  8. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 05:09 AM) Can you imagine what we will draw on a Monday night when the Bears play? Like 5000. They should just let everybody in for free. Seriously. Would it anger the season ticket holders that much? There's no downside to letting fans in for free in September. They still wouldn't draw, but those families who did go would still spend a ton on concessions.
  9. Robin should quit after this season and give another former player a shot at it. He deserves a break from this bullpen madness. Make him third base coach for a season if he wants to be in a big league uniform, still.
  10. I know it's just hyperbole, but didn't Hawk and Stoney both at some point this season say, "These guys will NEVER quit." Also that the Sox were in it for the long haul this season. A contender? Doesn't matter, as I like them both, but contenders? You'd think they were the Royals' announcers lying like that.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 04:46 AM) Sox are going to have a hard time attracting flies in September to the Cell at this rate. I can't find the link to the Stone interview the other day on The Score. Anybody have it?
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 04:45 AM) Because of his projected WAR If he's gonna be good, fine. He just looks like another guy I'd like to bat against when I was in my prime, that's all. His pitchers are mighty meaty.
  13. QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 04:43 AM) What device are you watching on? I have gone to using my Xbox almost exclusively - no commercials and better RW and FF controls. And Petricka gives it up. I am SHOCKED. Just a normal PC. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 04:44 AM) If the score holds, the Sox made up ANOTHER game on the Cubs, Red Sox, Phillies, Astros. Stupid Twins choked against KC Sox are dropping down to where a team with a roster like this deserves to be, frankly. They definitely overachieved for a few months.
  14. Petricka was a second round draft pick? Why? His height? Seems pretty ordinary to me.
  15. LOL. Worst bullpen in Sox history?
  16. This doesn't look good. Man on second nobody out. They've got a good manager. He'll figure a way to score.
  17. I wonder if MLB.com would listen if I sent them an email asking them to switch their policy for commercials. How can this help the advertiser? I will not buy Phillips 66 just because of these incessant commercials. They are the same every half inning. It is like torture, not water torture but ear torture.
  18. If Sox can't beat these guys at home to end the streak, I don't know what to say. If Bella comes in, look out.
  19. Sanchez with a lousy at bat. He's forgiven. Our hitters are looking lousy vs. this guy.
  20. Damn. I think that was a cookie. Maybe not at 95.
  21. Has Tyler had a walkoff this year? He deserves a thrill if this is his last year as starter.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 04:25 AM) Putnam: 1.2 IP, 0 baserunners allowed. What a find he was. How's his velocity? Is he a soft tossin' righty?
  23. Walkoff for Tyler ... or Dunn? Sox win?
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 04:08 AM) was thinking the same thing greg it's a f***ing morgue in there tonight. Must be hard for the players to play out the string I get they are professionals but for a guy like Alexei he's seen this s*** before. Just hope the kids add some energy over the next month. Are you guys arguing that Jordan Danks should play over De Aza or be kept over him? Haha. Jordan Danks. Only way Danks bat would play is if he's like +20 runs in CF. Then you could move Eaton to LF to keep him healthy but that's just crazy talk. Gillaspie looked dead on that at bat. Like Hawk said, the hook is the big equalizer. Whiff. (this lefty/righty stuff is one of the reasons baseball has become boring to many; so many specialist pitchers. Ridiculous)
  25. It looks like the riots have completely stopped. Ferguson is officially "old news" for a while? Til they decide to not charge the cop?
